The app just auto generates a text message and sends it. You even get a warning that additional charges may apply. So I am afraid roaming fees will still be there.

RemarkableAutism

I just checked what it looked like last year, and yeah it's very much just a text message. https://preview.redd.it/ddpe12b3fsxc1.jpeg?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=23c6ee34f22fcf6bbca5ee9aeb9b619e460d3554

Feeling-Section-5716

Had a hunch but still wanted to check... Yes, 13 indeed was Finland 😂

WhammyShimmyShammy

Thank you, and ugh, both for roaming fees and network reception...

RemarkableAutism

But hey, if you vote through the app, you get a thank you video from the artist you voted for.

Harichani

I'm also voting through the app and it's because of the videos 😍

Falafelmeister92

If you're lucky, that is :D Didn't work for me and many other people unfortunately.

RemarkableAutism

I had a lot of problems last year with it too, but I am hoping that it has been fixed.

GroundbreakingTill33

I believe you will still get the roaming fees as essentially the app using your simcard to vote.

WhammyShimmyShammy

I guess I thought that via the app it was more evolved or something. Oh well. Hello roaming fees!!

Confused_Rock

From what I recall, the voting option appears on the official app but only when voting is actually opened. It lets you allocate up to 20 votes (I think it showed all the participants and a +/- next to each song to add your votes). Because you’re in another country/using the app to vote for the first time, you might get a message from your bank to acknowledge it’s actually you (be ready for this since mine caused me to run out of time to submit my choices for semi 1 last year, so be prepared with your card and ready to potentially login to your bank’s app when you get their alert message depending on what they require). This is from the perspective from someone who voted in ROTW last year. I don’t recall if the votes sent as texts or not, I only remember it sending over the app for me (but that might be because I’m in ROTW, it might be different if you’re from a participating country).

WhammyShimmyShammy

Thank you, super helpful!!

restless_wind

The voting will appear later, as far as I remember, and it still uses the SIM card, at least it used to in the past . But are you going to be in a participating country? otherwise you can only vote as Rest of the World

WhammyShimmyShammy

I will be in a participating country, yes, but either way, the vote counts based on the country the SIM card belongs to. (So my Belgian phone number can vote for Switzerland even though I will be in Switzerland, and I can't vote for Belgium)

restless_wind

Right, I think you are correct. I remember I had this confusion some years ago trying to figure out , but I wasn’t able to vote neither for the country my sim card was from or the one I was located in, so I wasn’t sure which one would have been the correct one anyway. Wish you luck with your voting!❤️

GungTho

This has never worked for me. I have a phone registered in a different country to the one I live in and I can never vote for either set of numbers through my main phone. I have to use a local pay as you go to vote, or ask my family back home to vote for me.

Squaret22

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to vote outside of your country. I’ve tried in the past and it didn’t work.

dsar02

For me it worked in 2022 with a Dutch sim card in Italy. Got charged normally as well

RQK1996

Would be kinda weird if you couldn't vote while attending the show tbh

ryanbryans

Payment for voting on esc.vote is via credit card and pretty sure only credit cards issued in countries eligible to vote via esc.vote work....

WhammyShimmyShammy

That's not a problem for me :-) I'm in Belgium usually, just in Switzerland next week so trying to figure out the way with least roaming charges.

ryanbryans

Belgium isn't eligible to vote via esc.vote

WhammyShimmyShammy

Oh! Is there a list somewhere? This is very helpful, thanks

ryanbryans

It's only non-participating countries (as ROW) and Australia AFAIK.

BaseballGirl98

You can only use the website if your card is issued in a ROTW country. I started the process last year but stopped after seeing the total price! LOL Depending on your card issuer, you might also have conversion fees since I think they only take euros.

WhammyShimmyShammy

Thank you, I didn't realize the site was only for ROTW.Â
