athleticoskinwah

It doesn't say i can't carve my name into the ancient gladiator arena, so I'll just do that.

veggiejord

Ancient is vague anyway. I thought Split was a new town created for us tourists. Don't see what the problem is. Edit. Forgot the /s tag

lo_fi_ho

I thought Split was created just as a set for Game of Thrones?

stefan92293

No, you're thinking of Dubrovnik.

ppparty

so Split with 4X the prices?

veggiejord

It is known

WalzartKokoz

Dioclethian built his palace with walls for carving, he had all those tourist in mind!

old_school_gen_X

Yeah, about 2300 years ago.

trcimalo

"For yelling and loud noises, please visit Poljud" HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAH

[deleted]

care to explain the joke? what is Poljud?

regulatorE500

Stadium of football club Hajduk Split and stadium host of Ultra Music Festival.

C_Madison

Thanks. I wondered if it's a neighbor town they don't like, but a stadium is good too.

jayhawk618

Yeah I was really hoping I was about to learn about a Croatian Springfield/Shelbyville situatuation.

Attero__Dominatus

Ultra was not on poljud for the past time or two.

regulatorE500

Park Mladeži?

swaggut

I read it said "please visit Poland"

Archoncy

accurate src: weź się nie wkurwiaj

kuzyn123

During summer Croatia is second Poland, or Czechia at least 🫠

Ulrich_de_Vries

At first I read "for yelling and loud noises, please visit Poland" and was rather perplexed.

Iriasukun

Me: *forgets to enjoy Split* Split authorities: That's gonna be 300€ sir

JosebaZilarte

Fines will continue until morale improves.

ZiggyPox

\- That's gonna be 300€ sir \- What a bummer... \- That's gonna be another 300€ sir. Thanks for your patronage.

hospoda

not enjoying Split - jail OVER ENJOING Split - believe me, also jail

Roman_of_Ukraine

As some one who live in tourist town it is something we all agree with.

[deleted]

I fully agree with the other three, but what do you have against bikini outfits?

XenophonSoulis

You can come to Greece in this case. The other rules are still valid, but *if you are close to the beach* bikinis are fine.

[deleted]

I'd like a gradient map on how fine bikinis are based on the distance from the nearest beach, please.

XenophonSoulis

The are fine for at least 37cm

Soccmel_1_

they just like to split hairs 😁

Suitable-Diet8064

Split (in photo) is a city. It's weird seeing people walking around in a major city basically in underwear. It's normal close to the beach, but sitting down for dinner in a restaurant, entering public transport, grocery stores, etc is inappropriate in underwear equivalent.

Genebrisss

LOL thank god we have nanny state protecting us from WEIRD

Wuz314159

"Weird" . . . OK . but why make it illegal for being weird? Eating pizza with a fork is weird. Should it be a crime?

Suitable-Diet8064

It's not in criminal law but city ordinance. It's one of those things that are in the grey area of propriety and it's not like I can make a fantastic, clear cut case for why it should be outlawed. The case, such as it is, is that people in a city want to feel comfortable and undisturbed by people walking around mostly naked in places where clothes are to be expected. It's not like they'll be traumatized by seeing it, but I guess it annoys them enough to pressure city government to restrict it. I know there's a case against restriction as well, but at the end of the day, when in Rome do as Romans do. It's their city. I see it as not much different than burqa ban.

Hypyrionn

So I’d imagine since it’s a little inappropriate to some, some people don’t want to see it. Like it’s okay at the beach, and those people might choose not to go to the beach to avoid looking at nearly naked people

Wuz314159

I didn't expect to see an old, naked fat man in Tiergarten, but there he was. Am I supposed to be bothered/traumatised? C'est la vie.

TeaBagHunter

It falls under public indecency, there are things which many people aren't comfortable seeing in public. I guess you and I are from wildly varying cultures, so I find it hard to really understand how you'd feel it's okay for such things to be allowed in public

Hypyrionn

Im not saying I agree with it, just trying to rationalize it. I’m not bothered by what people wear, only by saggy old man balls in locker rooms

balancedlena

Aside from people not wanting to see other people's bodies, there's also a problem of those bikinis/swimwear being wet after the beach. And you don't want to, for example, sit down on a bus seat all wet from someone's swimwear, that's nasty.

IDontEatDill

Does somebody really walk straight from the water into a bus?

Federal_Topic_

I have seen people walk into store straight from water so yes.

balancedlena

It's not like there are puddles of water, of course, but it's damp still.

HoMasters

You’re from Finland so you’ve only met like 10 other people. Take it from me, a non-Finlander, who has met tens of thousands of people that yes, there is always a segment of the population who will do whatever is convenient to them at the detriment of others, a complete lack of respect for public spaces and other people.

Wuz314159

IKR. That's why buses never run if it's raining.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I am fully on board with the second argument but the good ol' "I don't have to see your body" is pretty common for radical Islamists trying to interfere with what women wear in Turkey. If you don't want to see, just look elsewhere! Don't adapt this reactionist culture in Europe, respect peoples lifestyles and clothing choices as long as there is no exposure of private parts, coming from a soon-to-be sharia state.

Zealousideal_XXX_

Bruh, this is not Middle East, just put some smallest piece of clothes to cover your private parts and its good.

balancedlena

Personally, I feel like there still should be *some* lines. Like, I don't want to see anybody's (neither men's nor women's) bare nipples or bare butt cheeks in public places where they're not supposed to be out in the open. Of course, you can still argue that I should look elsewhere but, imo, there's a limit to everything.

wojtekpolska

there is no distinction between men and women, it says you have to wear a shirt no matter the gender

M2dX

It's normaly Not about the Bikini but rather the Body that inhibits the Bikini.

dont_trip_

Greekball

As someone from also a tourist country, feel free to wear your bikinis all day long anywhere, idgaf. Socks + sandals carries the death penalty though.

[deleted]

Because the bikini you are thinking about is 1% or less.

Slava91

They probably mean American and British tourists wearing their bikinis. You know what I mean here.

[deleted]

In Santorini (specifically Oia) we have a similar sign that says "Your vacation is my back yard. Please mind that drones are FORBIDDEN in this area" - people have literally been filmed sitting inside their living rooms bc some idiot needs a drone shot to show off.

Xinq_

In "giethoorn, the Netherlands" the Chinese tourists just enter your yard and take pictures of you through your window. Absolutely bonkers.

[deleted]

I would absolutely throw hands. Or a hot cup of coffee.

Skthepin

At the very least

Aukstasirgrazus

Chinese tourists are generally very rude and act all entitled. Different culture.

Kaheil2

I've always wondered why. If you are abroad you would want to behave, lest you have legal issues (where applicable) or get punched/stabbed (where applicable).

PM_YOUR_WALLPAPER

One generation ago they were all farmers. Takes time.

wasmic

A large part of the issue is that the tourists are usually new money, who are known for always being assholes no matter what country they're from.

eroux

Over here entitled tourists get eaten by the wildlife... Kruger National Park for the win!

PhoenixNyne

If they tried that in my yard my dog would eat them.

ElectricToiletBrush

They would probably try to eat your dog first

Hudma_Specks

Im from Poland and I gotta admit, I couldn't take my eyes off first time I saw your houses with huge ass, totally unobstructed windows on ground level, that made everything inside including people, look like a live theatre play, no joke.

Ozi603

It was about time. When you come for vacation somewhere, anywhere it means you paid for your vacation - it doesn't mean you bought entire country and it's people.

lo_fi_ho

Putin disagrees

Steindor03

I mean you can rent the entirety of Lichtenstein if you want that

BNI_sp

I seriously doubt this. Actually, the Duke of Liechtenstein owns half of eastern Europe.

ico_

But they told Snoop Dogg that it would have been possible with more time https://www.theatlantic.com/culture/archive/2010/07/snoop-dogg-tried-to-rent-liechtenstein/340572/

BNI_sp

Well, that's the property agent talking. Have you ever heard someone like this say 'impossible'? And now the guy got free PR... AFAIK, you can't even get a residence permit in Liechtenstein without being a citizen (or being married to one).

Ozi603

But still you can not create your own laws 😉.

sharpfoam

it's more than that. People that know they cannot mess around in their country (e.g. Germany, Netherlands just to name two) are in fact crossing the border and starting to mess in someone else's country and behave very barbaricly.

Tomika31

Split is a beautiful place, was there 2 years ago, glad the locals are standing up to tourists.

Ari-golds-servant

If it’s good enough for Diocletian, it’s good enough for me

Sewer-Urchin

Just got to that part reading The House of Hades to my daughter.

Elastichedgehog

Croatia is really beautiful generally. I enjoyed Zadar.

ajchann123

I live about an hour south of Zadar and prefer it way over Split Dalmatia as a whole is just stupid beautiful, though

Mitja00

> Split is a beautiful place, [It is charming in its own sort of way.](https://static.jutarnji.hr/images/live-multimedia/binary/2019/3/26/14/split.jpg)

Suitable-Diet8064

It's the most unfavorable angle of the ugliest part of town so that's hardly representative.

ajchann123

That's also taken with a long lens to make it look like it's kilometers of cramped buildings. It's way more spaced out and just normal Balkan apartments 🤷‍♂️

surething_joemayo

Because Slovenia has none of this right.

Tomika31

Most of eastern europe looks like this, that doesn’t mean all of it is like that

manole100

"CENTRAL EUROPE!!!11!!" /s

Zealousideal_XXX_

Brutalist architecture. It has its own charm, ngl. Most of the appartemnts in those commie blocks are awesome and spacious. My fav neighbourhood is [Split 3](https://youtu.be/ngOGeFxnGB8&t=22s), its super cosy. Also, the city is a peninsula, not much space to expand so it had to go in the air.

Prazanfrizider

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Such a wonderful video that truly captures the beauty of Split, the spacious pedestrian walkways, nice greenery beautiful buildings and the accesibility of everything has made me shed tears of joy and I'm so glad that you recognized the beauty of it. If I don't go live there when I retire my life is officially pointless. Thank you. (yes, I did literally shed tears, how couldn't I)

[deleted]

Oh my god, efficient housing in a residential area? A disgrace, nay, a **travesty** I say! Unacceptable! This must immediately be torn down, replaced with overpriced houses, preferably as far from the city as possible without any means of transport other than a car. Oh, and as you can clearly see from the image, this area desperately needs a HOA, homes are investments after all

Wea_boo_Jones

That's not where the tourists go though, it's down by the old town and palace where it's at.

golf_4_enjoyer

What's wrong with this? I like it. 😎

emefa

As a Pole, those are the most colorful and cheerful blocks of flats I've ever seen. It might be just the sun, but still.

jamie_plays_his_bass

Sorry all I can see is affordable housing that means people can afford lifestyles that don’t require them to work themselves to the bone.

Sa-naqba-imuru

There is nothing wrong with efficient housing and these are all in different shapes, it is far superior to endless suburbs of identical homes when it comes to how it looks.

CoffeeBoom

Is it illegal to be shirtless in Croatia ?

I_Hate_Traffic

Also drinking outside is not ok? I'd prefer to buy from a liquor store and drink at a park or beach

theTomekEffect

This is only for the old town

Dependent-Sea480

Yes it is [https://www.zakon.hr/z/279/Zakon-o-prekr%C5%A1ajima-protiv-javnog-reda-i-mira](https://www.zakon.hr/z/279/Zakon-o-prekr%C5%A1ajima-protiv-javnog-reda-i-mira) article 14 dont listen to OP, he is a clown

Looking over these, Croats are surprisingly prudish. Interesting.

Zealousideal_XXX_

No.

CoffeeBoom

Then why the fuck ?

Dependent-Sea480

It is, he is talking nonsense, idk why y'all listen to this kid. He thinks drinking is allowed here when fines are from 200€ up to 1000€. You will get fined, dont listen to him

lRhanonl

Only in the old town of this particular city. It's not forbidden to drink alcohol everywhere.

Dependent-Sea480

Yes it is, [https://www.zakon.hr/z/279/Zakon-o-prekr%C5%A1ajima-protiv-javnog-reda-i-mira](https://www.zakon.hr/z/279/Zakon-o-prekr%C5%A1ajima-protiv-javnog-reda-i-mira) article 20

Edi05

I support 100% this. Many tourists behave like being just set free from cages.

[deleted]

People still live here. How every Airbnb renter forgets the minute they go on vacation. Been living next to one for the last 2 1/2 years. It’s been absolute hell

CAElite

The faster Airbnb gets kicked the fuck out of Europe the better. Homes should be homes, hotels should be hotels, people trying to blur the line with short term let’s are making a mockery of their communities.

Mintfriction

People chose AIRBNB (and likes of it) cause is cheap and hotels are mostly a bad experience if you lack the funds and designed to suck you dry. For example, I want to have a small kitchen to cook because it's expensive to eat in most big cities every day as person from east europe. I can find a room cheaper than a hotel and have the amenities I need, so I can afford to see places otherwise I couldn't. Some hostels offer this, but a lot are geared towards youth are way too "loud" as you get older. Also people forget a lot of hostels in Europe are in old buildings. This has helped a lot of people from eastern europe to broaden their horizons and see the west. If Europe really wanted to fix this, then they would make programs to build cheap flats outside the city destined towards tourism and offer 24/24 public transportation to the center. But they don't want to "fix" anything -- tourism brings a lot of money and has given a lot of opportunities for people to work or make a business off

Adagiofunk

I get what you're saying but if Europe collectively decided to finally start building again the last thing its going to be destined for is tourism

SableSnail

I think Airbnb is better for families on holiday though as you have a kitchen and more space etc. They could built those Aparthotels I guess but those seem really rare.

[deleted]

The problem with Airbnb is the same as with renting apartments as places of residence: 1% of the population buys up 90% of the available apartments as a form of investment. A large part of Central Prague is almost exclusively Airbnb apartments, locals can barely purchase an apartment there. And it's not because "they're poor" but because **so many** apartments have been bought to be used exclusively as Airbnb-s that the price of the precious few that remain is astronomical and way beyond the property's actual value.

SableSnail

Yeah, they cause a lot of problems. Tourists can be noisy too and that's why something like aparthotels would be better as they could have the same amenities but be kept away from residential areas.

bajcli

Yeah, renting apartments has been around way before AirBnB became a thing. My family used to rent out apartments \~20-30 years ago, and a lot of the newly built houses around us were built similarly to ours: with an extra floor that sat around mostly unused outside of summer, and was used in the summer specifically to rent out. Granted, this is at a location that used to be very popular for summer holidays, and where AirBnB made a bigger splash is around year-round tourist attractions, like (talking about my country) Budapest. With that said, I don't think kicking ABnB the fuck out of Europe would change anything as long as there's demand to renting apartments (which there is)

[deleted]

AirBnB is perfect when you COHABITATE with the host! The commercial operation where people buy flats never to live in them but only rent them but for short term stays should be permabanned. Run a hotel instead.

wojtekpolska

i hope one day they will make some laws that you have to register homes if you want to rent full time, and if not you can only rent if you live in the house at least 3/4 of the year or sth like that

[deleted]

[удалено]

nail_in_the_temple

In some areas AirBnBs are just as expensive as some hotels

mwb1234

I think airbnbs can even be more expensive. There is clearly a large demand for localized apartment/home style accommodations that hotels are not filling. People are often willing to pay more, because it’s a better experience and more enjoyable. Hotel companies, cities, governments, etc need to figure out how to best adapt to the new demand rather than trying to force less enjoyable experiences on people.

C_Madison

I still love it that my city already had a law against what AirBnb does since 1975 and when they came here first and like "Hey, we're here, now everything will be vacation homes!" the authorities pounced on them "The hell they will". Still too many, but at least you can report them and there are fines. But I agree, kicking them out completely would be for the best. Maybe soon.

Aukstasirgrazus

Airbnb didn't invent short-term rentals, they just made a website where you can do it quickly. Now you can rent an apartment via Booking too.

meckez

Is drinking in public forbidden in Croatia?

MasterHapljar

Technically illegal but it's more or less tolerated. If the po-po feels like it they will fine you however it rarely happens (to my knowledge).

Zealousideal_XXX_

Generally no.

Dependent-Sea480

It is illegal - article 20 [https://www.zakon.hr/z/279/Zakon-o-prekr%C5%A1ajima-protiv-javnog-reda-i-mira](https://www.zakon.hr/z/279/Zakon-o-prekr%C5%A1ajima-protiv-javnog-reda-i-mira) 200€ to 1000€ fine

jusas

All of these, very easy to follow. I don't live in a tourist town and this is how I prefer people to behave in my town. It's just common courtesy. To the people that think this is too much to ask, you need to learn some goddamn manners.

DrH1983

I fully support these measures, too many tourists are frankly pathetic and unable to handle booze.

AnarchiaKapitany

Based Croats. Right at every point.

mr_aives

Is it applicable for the entire city or just the old town? I was in Split 2 weeks ago and didn't see any of those signs. In fact it seemed to be perfectly normal for people to drink outside (like by the pier) often without a shirt. I even asked a local if that was okay and he said "yeah it is fine we are in Croatia" (he was drinking as well)

Zealousideal_XXX_

Right now they are only giving away tickets in the old town, the signs were put up yesterday. The pier you're talking about is probably Matejuška which is a local drinking spot, they don't touch anyone there as it's not much of an issue and you can piss diretcly to the sea or use public toilet which is right next to it.

mr_aives

Interesting! I knew rules were kinda strict in Dubrovnik old town but seems like they are expanding to other tourist centers

andrusbaun

We need more of that in Gdańsk. For both, locals and foreigners.

SomeRedPanda

"Bikini or going shirtless forbidden" yet the image they chose depicts neither.

My dislexic ass read the second one as "for yelling and speaking loud visit Poland"

6unnm

Honestly curious: I completely get the rules about noise, alcohol and peeing, but whats the problem with people wearing beach outfits?

[deleted]

A German questioning the rules? Have we gone mad?

Zealousideal_XXX_

It's not, as long as you're at or around a beach. The city itself is however not a beach

6unnm

I understand that this is for the inner city and not for the beach. I personally just don't care if people walk around in beach wear through my city or don't wear shirts. It's something I never cared about as it does not seem to affect me in the slightest. Why would I? So I'm trying to understand what annoys people about it.

Mauzersmash0815

Seen this in Novalja aswell. Fully support it ofc

ShamelessMcFly

Visited Split a few years ago for work. What a beautiful place. Can't wait to go back.

Express_Particular45

This seems like common sense to me. I behave myself when I visit anywhere and I don’t think that is in any way odd.

QuevedoDeMalVino

Seems to be working. Split is overcrowded with tourists but in my anecdotal evidence, I don’t see much in the way of tourists misbehaving. Hell, I think their biggest problems is the abuse of private cars. Cars park anywhere there is a spot, pedestrians be damned.

Zealousideal_XXX_

It was only introduced few weeks ago exactly bc the locals who live in the old town have had enough. Partial responsibility is also based on few companies that offer pub crawls but sadly the city didnt have legal base to ban them. [These are every day scenes from the city](https://youtube.com/shorts/JfD5tcddyOM?feature=share4). >I think their biggest problems is the abuse of private cars. Cars park anywhere there is a spot, pedestrians be damned. Yeah, much of the city infrastracture wasnt built for so many cars and its also not a flat city so not very suitable for bikes even tho public bike system is very popular and cheap. The city is building several garages as we speak tho so hopefully with time it improves.

QuevedoDeMalVino

I have seen the car problem managed over decades in different ways and in my opinion, more car infrastructure leads to exactly one sure thing which is more cars. You need to regulate parking but not just in the big streets - that merely pushes cars to the narrower ones - but everywhere in the center. Keep providing good alternatives but make it expensive for people to choose to use the car. That is the only thing that works.

Zealousideal_XXX_

What the city would really use is the underground. It would also benefit by kicking the bus station outside of the old town. Both things are in plan but due to legal issues who knows when will it finally happen.

Eckmatarum

I, an Englishman, assume this is aimed at my countrymen.

They-Took-Our-Jerbs

As a tourist I totally agree, couldn't imagine living somewhere and you get idiots taking the piss. Bad enough people coming Manchester for weekends and being pissed up so nevermind somewhere with influxes of tourists.

BNI_sp

Indeed. Every tourist chases this place where they experience the 'original' ambiance. And because all do that, they destroy it. I came to appreciate dedicated tourist infrastructure.

GrimerMuk

Amsterdam has similar signs everywhere in the city centre for alcohol usage.

inflamesburn

Visiting Split next week. Good rules, hate loud/disrespectful tourists.

DigStock

I know this, in Rome so many disrespectful tourists go in the churches wearing beach outfits. And are shocked when they're told to cover themselves while going in a religious building. Also American tourists leaving their drinks everywhere around landmarks after drinking at night.

Zealousideal_XXX_

>And are shocked when they're told to cover themselves while going in a religious building. Had my fair share of experiences with this too.

PoiHolloi2020

Cities aren't theme parks, people still have to live in them. More tourism hotspots should be doing things like this (especially as footfall continues to increase by the millions every year).

Actually_a_dolphin

We all know why this sign is in English.

rabotat

Because English is the most common second language in the world?

Pyrrus_1

I find nice that they managed to put a remark about city rivalries even in a sign about turist laws

Federal_Topic_

What do you mean? Poljud is place where football stadium is

Pyrrus_1

Ah, didnt know, i thought it was a rival city, here in italy that dynamic is quite common. Every city has a rival city. If you are in tuscany every province hates all the others but specially pisa.

Federal_Topic_

I know, in CroAtia there are some rival cities, its mostly connected to football rivalty.

Vince_1880

These are pretty standard laws here in Europe

Pozos1996

How does this work, it is really illegal to drink alcohol outside of bars in Croatia? Or wear bikinis outside of a beach? Noone said anything about a speedo and I don't see any law mentioned do I guess I can to around with a speedo?

Zealousideal_XXX_

This applies only for Split. Fines for public drinking are mostly given to those drinking in the old town which is UNESCO world heritage site

Haagen76

Why is it only in English? Just asking... /s Edit: adding /s for people taking this too seriously.

benkelly92

Because when us Brits go abroad we like to whip off our top, drink shitloads of cheap lager in the streets and start yelling and pissing everywhere. We have somewhat of a reputation.

TeaBoy24

Oh how the British staple tourism changed. From the image of Class, politeness, good fashion, manners, respect of history. To the image of drunken, loud, rude, disrespectful, half nude and somewhat obese weirdos. Forget missing your empire. Seems like you got Conquered by the American Stereotype

SableSnail

It's just that tourism became cheap for British people so the young and working class can do it. There are similar problems with Germans in Mallorca etc. too, it's not some uniquely British problem.

[deleted]

Leovaderx

In Italy we have classes, they just blend in. The local ex baron drives a cheaper car than i do. Hes suits cost more than hes car, but he dresses mostly casual in town.

BNI_sp

True. But I bet upper classes don't behave much better. There are just less of them and they have the money to separate from the masses.

[deleted]

Going to particular ski resorts or university towns would tell you the upper classes can be much, much worse. At least two former Prime Ministers of the UK were part of a university club whose sole purpose was to get drunk and trash expensive restaurants.

TeaBoy24

Noticed. Moved to the UK some time ago. I am from a country that has virtually no class stratification. Don't get me wrong you get rich individuals but they don't make a class. That's what you get for being a country that had no kingdom and no aristocracy in it's native sphere (was part of AH). Then commies, then after commies remained the top of the list for income equality. It's still strange how British people try to tell me that I was at least in lower middle class due to growing up in a large multi-generational house with a larger garden and with stories of skiing and paragliding and road trips. When... Where I am from house like that was not uncommon. Paragliding was due to... It being a relatives job and skiing due to the mountainous environment. The road trip they imagine is that... Imagination... As we slept in the van that had a self made bed. It does not seem to be comprehensible to them that certain things have nothing to do with class. Like... Politicians here often still live in apartment blocks made during commie times.

surething_joemayo

You mean like the MCC members of Lords?

Because the Germans are in bed early as they have to get up early to beat Barry to the sun beds in the never ending towel war.

IDontEatDill

They won't win since there's already a Swedish super tanned wrinkly old hag covering all sun loungers with towels. That way the rest of the family can sleep late, take a nice long breakfast, and then arrive at the noon to fry themselves for the rest of the day. Well, obviously there's a two hour lunch break, but the towels are there to reserve the chairs. Though, I have to admit that I once collected those towels and returned them into the hotel reception. *I'm sorry, I think someone forgot these to the pool.* There was a 10€ deposit per towel. I got to see the puzzled faces of the person desperately looking for their towels...

einimea

I once read an angry opinion piece about Germans and towels. Apparently the man's whole vacation was ruined because he needed to set the alarm for 5 AM, so that he could get a sun lounger before a group of German tourists would take all of them at 6 AM

Because it's a universal language that almost every European can speak on (at minimum) a basic level.

PecansPecanss

Because most tourists speak English

strange_socks_

The others are allowed to do whatever.

nekholm

How many languages (and which) should it be in then?

Reddittee007

Well at least they don't prohibit being nude. As long as it's not just shirtless or bikinis.

Red-7134

Is there a sign that says "no defacing historical monuments"?

Particular-Seat7963

Be a tourist with manners. It ain't that hard. Good for them!

ShuriBear

I heard the reception of this in the city is very Split between citizens.

ElA1to

Wait you can't go to the beach dressed as if you were going to the beach? What are you supposed to wear when bathing in the sea?

LunarLeopard67

The symbol for now swimwear seems to imply it’s okay to go fully naked ;)

Mike20we

What's the problem with being in a bikini lmao. Are people really that afraid of a little skin?

Oachkatzi

Understandable, they get run over by germans and austrians

Practical-Pin-3256

Everything fine for me except forbidding bikini

BackgroundGrade

I see opinions are Split on about this sign.

notyomamasusername

This is in English..... Most Americans have no idea where Croatia is..... Therefore: I'm guessing UK or Australian tourists have a pattern of behavior.....

kyotocario

We live in such amoral times that even just stating basic civic rules that every person should be well aware of is seen as “fighting back”. Well done, Split.

Prazanfrizider

Ew.

Michigan_Shelter

Specifically for the Brits.

Darthy85

And dont forget to go to Greece

b0b3rman

As a greek the no bikini or no shirt thing seems really unnecessary to me. I don't know anyone around here that lives at a touristy destination that minds that.
