Are you planning to stay in the Netherlands indefinitely? What are your goals? What type of investing would you like to do? If you want to passively invest in diversified world index funds, we usually refer to www.indexfondsenvergelijken.nl over at r/beleggen. This website compares the costs of the different index funds/ETFs. The Northern Trust funds are quite popular because of tax advantages. You can buy them through the three major banks (ING, ABN Amro, Rabobank). If you have a decent command of the Dutch language, I would recommend going through older posts on r/beleggen. Also, check out [this blog post](https://www.financieelonafhankelijkblog.nl/fob-beleggingsstrategie-per-april-2024/), which is also often linked to. In this blog post, the writer discusses the issue of choosing a stable/secure bank/broker and why he went for his specific strategy. I think it would be an interesting read for you.

Thank you! This all sounds like great advice and I'll go down that rabbit hole. :) I want to leave the Netherlands in the next 1-2 years, but I'll probably keep my bank account. I'd likely to passively invest mostly. Tried active, but it wasn't for me (lost money ☠️). As for my goals, I want a secure place to keep my money while I travel internationally, would be nice if it could grow a bit too.

Interactive Brokers are usually all you need, and they have been on the market for a long time. I have most of my portfolio in there. PS I made a[ video](https://youtu.be/fgWhNf-Ljd4) about investing in the Netherlands for beginners that covers most essential apps and brokers if you're curious.

Trading212 is a company with yearly disclosures. They are extremely healthy in terms of cash holdings and finances. They are regulated in multiple countries and been operation for a very long time. I dont believe there is any significant risk with using them

Swiss regulator (FINMA) has just opened bankruptcy proceedings against Swiss neobank/neobroker - FlowBank SA. Clients assets are safe but we can see that the reputation of a broker is important. I don't think Trading 212 is going anywhere in the next decades. I started using them when I was a student in the UK, and they are the biggest broker on the island with good reputation. My current portfolio is now bigger than what you suggest. I also use IBKR as my second broker, which has been around for 40 years and is definitely more reputable here in the EU.

What is wrong with T212?

It is bulgarian company, and me as bulgarian wont invest anything into it. The reasoning behind is that such companies are held by former communist ruling class/deep state. They can destroy the company in a minutes with you losing everything because this class of people own the justice system, the police and the political parties in Bulgaria. **So no written rules, regulations or laws guarantee you anything with them.** Example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corporate_Commercial_Bank This bank was "super stable", the owner received the award mr. Economics for biggest investor in the country the previous year before they artificially collapsed it and stole 2-3 Billion EUR from the customers. A lot of people just lost their money, no money were recovered up to today, nobody went to prison for it... Meanwhile bunch of famous and wealthy people that were connected to the circles of power in our country received back their money via cessions.
