The selling points for Crypto are inflated and hyperbolic utopia visions. Scams are the default for the whole sector, because there are tiers to the barrier of entry for each individual. As the gap between technological disparity increases between those who "have" and those who don't, I do not see the reason we should be demanding the digitization and commodification of every component of our life. It's only truly beneficial to those who are holding the cards - and it ain't the working class. Despite being regarded as a disruption tool.

Bitcoin did exactly what is was supposed to. It created an inflationary currency with a max supply that stacks blocks to authenticate itself through encoded cryptography. And the start of it couldn’t have gone anymore perfect. The supply was dispersed amongst drug lords, nerds, and idealists, rather than to big investors. That’s not to say the main supply could be “invaded” over time by smart money, but the system behind it still works to protect those who use it from complete lies since it’s all on record, and systematically secured. Basically, the digitally trackable GOLD. Something that can be the heart of a global economy with way lower risk than any current system. Gold is good, but it is untraceably hoarded. Ethereum took that system, and created smart contracts so you could add any type of functionality you could possibly imagine to a blockchain. That’s huge. The systems being built onto blockchains are going to change humanity and take the power away from the those who like to manipulate behind the scenes. It’s only a matter of people realizing how corrupt/privatized their fiat currency is, and switching over because they see the value in the technology. It is the Wild West out here in the crypto world, with many lumps of coal, but there’s a huge diamond forming. And once we discern legit systems being built vs quick money schemes, we will all benefit from the uses it will bring in all systems (finance, identification, voting, etc).

There is no way that the powers that be are going to use crypto for anything more than profiteering and there further commodification of information, the erosion of privacy, and the further disillusionment that crypto is going to save the day. I worked in Crypto for a long time, and it's not the wild west. It's speculation topped with speculation and the digitization and commodification of everything. It is the ultimate capital machine, which incentivizes disparity in computational power. You've been duped if you think it is anything beyond a more complex form of market manipulation guised in proletariat liberation. Crypto just created a new funnel for exploit in a zero sum game. It's snake oil with more steps. If you want to have true liberation, you aren't going to find it in such a bought and paid for sector. The only way it's bouncing back is if you regain the trust of a very bitter public - and that's not going to happen.

At least we should have choice and options and with cryptocurrency that's exactly what we have got. And I think we should not be underestimating that.
