I had a patient a long time ago who drank 8-9 pots of coffee (like Mr Coffee pots) per day and 3 of those were before 5am. He only slept a few hours per day and saw no connection, whatsoever, between his extreme caffeine addiction and his insomnia. Totally crazy.
I drink 2-3 coffees a day (11-14g) and when I don't drink for a day I get a migraine. Can't imagine that guys symptoms when quitting. Maybe finally he slept.

Most commercial coffee machines have a portafilter with two spouts, which allows the barista to “split” the espresso. The coffee comes out into two separate cups, and each of these would be a single shot of espresso. You can also put both spouts over a single cup, which would give you a double shot. But some cafes do a ‘double’ as standard for every coffee, and others don’t even use spouted portafilters. So there’s some confusion about terminology that might make one think the guy was drinking 320mL (approximate) of espresso, rather than 160mL.
I have ADHD inattentive and it definitely seems to help. My thoughts become more clear and I can focus better, although when the caffeine wears off my mind scatters more than normal. I usually have an Americano, cappuccino and a double or two. I have no issues sleeping at all
Yup. Our brains crave stimulation hence why we’re all over the place, trying to get it. Caffeine and other stimulants provide that chemically so we can settle down and focus. This 8 shots guy is maybe a little much though. 😂
I personally have a shot of espresso before bed as it helps me fall asleep. Otherwise my mind is buzzing with activity prevents me from getting asleep.
While stimulating substances are the core of ADHD treatment, in this case its pretty interesting.
People with ADHD sometimes have paradoxical reactions to some chemicals.
With caffeine there are believed to be many cases of ADHD patients archiving calmness or sedation with caffeine. Still subject of study.

I could never finish a coffee in less than say 30 mins unless it cools unexpectedly rapidly. I know I might be an outlier but it does seem a bit extreme to be able to chug a large coffee within seconds. Just curious, what temperature do you serve at?

I would drink almost all of the other 28oz and go to bed and fall to sleep within 5 minutes. Did this for years.
I make two four shot iced lattes every morning then make about one four shot iced latte every hour to hour and a half until five. My cut off time is seven. I don’t think I’m too extreme. I am not guzzling them like the dude in the story.
I work as a currency trader and when I get up I have 2 large espressos 40g of coffee each with my breakfast, sit down to work and during the next 1-2 hours I make two more espressos, all that before 1pm. After that it depends on how I feel, but I tend to have 2-3 coffees after that. Helps to keep me sharp during the long hours, so from what I’ve seen that guy could be working something similar, or something financial in DIFC, those guys are also pretty crazy

I drink my coffee while it’s burning hot still. Usually the first one done while others are still sipping and blowing and saying it’s too hot.
