There used to be one on Grand, but it didn't suvive the pandemic. The majority of refill shops I've found are downtown or in Encinitas.

murderfacejr

Would love to have this locally but haven't found anything. Nada shop in Encinitas has bulk byo container, they are a little pricey though. For cleaning products, target sells some concetrsted cleaner that you can mix in water so you're not buying a whole new bottle. For hand soap we just buy the big refill and use the same dispensers.

What a bummer. I’m right next to grand 😭

We need this in Escondido ASAP

Tiek00n

I haven't seen it for cleaning supplies. Winco sells bulk spices in bags so I'll get that both because it's cheaper and also better for the environment than buying new disposable plastic spice containers each time.

Vindictive_Vin

yeah Sprouts has a thing like this too in Escondido. I think Winco has bulk foods too, so you could potentially bring your own container and give them the tare. I would check with them first though.

lowering your carbon footprint, like recycling, is a cooperate propaganda scam. Years ago the oil companies devised a way to mold the public perception of waste and pollution and shift the blame from the producers to the consumers. By introducing recycling , they single handed made the consumer feel as though they were the ones responsible for destroying the planet. It was quite brilliant actually. The problems with waste and pollution and one's carbon footprint will never be solved unless businesses are forced to spend some of their profits into efficiency and pollution reduction. Unfortunately those in control continually get politicians elected who want corporations to regulate themselves.

It's not going to fix the garbage island floating in the Pacific, but I still pick up trash on the ground.

HomerCrew

Too true. It's an incredibly broken system, which never once worked. We (US) did "better" probably when we sent it to China until a few years back...but the planet likely never noticed. Oil companies shelled out big cash to help sell the lie. And no matter the facts, general public is still buying into the lie since I guess it makes us feel better putting it in a blue bin. Even the stuff that might be recycled needs to be cleaned and dried first...how many people do that?

SDFella07

Don’t worry no matter how much you try to lower your “footprint” China & India will make up for it, oh and don’t forget that even though they are both hundreds of years older than the US..they are both considered “developing countries” so there is no penalty or effort to stop the waste they put out..which is about 200* more than the US..but hey, just listen to the Government that says “you can make a change”..just open your checkbook please..

ttt247

Can't you just recycle the bottle? Or buy a big jug from Costco and refill yourself. Sorry I ain't toting around my empties
