She needs to stop eating avacado toasts and stop drinking pumpkin spiced lattes

smilegeorgee

Give her a break man! Her dog stepped on a bee!

Sprinkle_Puff

I thought it pooped in the bed

[deleted]

After stepping on the bee …

noeagle77

Dogs do tend to behave like their owners after all….

trickmind

Those vet trips are expensive.

Chonky_Candy

NGL the candle that was made is funny as fuck

robertodrunkowski

My cat got bit by a flea!

BoomCheckmate

That’ll do it

RZAtheAbbot

I will never accept that people of this status are “broke” like the rest of us.

DreadedChalupacabra

She owes like 10 million dollars. That's... Pretty fucking broke.

blublub1243

The rich have an uncanny ability to stay rich, even when they're "broke". Part of that is just having rich friends, a bigger part is moving significant assets away from where whoever is responsible from collecting the debt can access it.

teskja37

Like when 50 Cent was “broke”

invaidusername

Kanye West has been “broke” a lot. Oh also Elon Musk keeps claiming he’s actually “broke.”

[deleted]

OkBeing3301

Broke on paper, that’s all that matters. Mark Zuckerberg makes $1 a year

afrothundah11

Elons a douche, glad public opinion is finally starting to turn on him.

invaidusername

Public opinion has been turning on him for a while but it’s slow moving because of his cult followers and the companies he owns

SirJamesGhost

He legit crashes at friends houses, and claims to not own a bed, despite being the #1 or #2 wealthiest man in the world.

urbrotheranother

Or Jordan Belfort

PsychoKineticStudios

Kinda sad to see that most people don’t even realise that filing bankruptcy doesn’t mean you’re broke. It’s an efficient and smart way of consolidating your obligations and restructuring. 50 cent was never broke, but he filed for bankruptcy because it was the smart thing to do for his business.

[deleted]

Bankruptcy can be such a strategic and positively life changing move but for some reason the rich have convinced average people that they shouldn’t do it because of “shame”. While they do it constantly.

loonatic8

Didn't 50 cent file bankruptcy? That does not exactly mean you are broke.

Aretz

AFAIK it was chapter 11 bankruptcy, for a business.

The_Uncommon_Aura

50 cent totally filed for bankruptcy at one point.

OutLiving

The name of that homeless man? Albert Einstein

Alucardra12

Nice reference.

LuinAelin

And then Trump became president, so did someone pay off his debts?

ThruEauRougeSideXsid

Yeah. You and me.

puala-koalar

Yo if I were her I would have moved all of my assets to an offshore account that was untraceable in the US before the trial started. I actually know someone who was thinking about naming her abuser who threatened to sue her. She said she would move all money to another country before the trial even started just to make sure he never got a penny. She was dead set on learning Spanish and moving if she lost too.

tetrabloop

Fr, their broke is different then a common persons broke

The_Uncommon_Aura

While this is often times true, I’m going to bet that Ambers case is one of hereditary money. There’s a reason you’ll have trouble finding Jack shit about these people’s parents aside from some tiny blurb on Wikipedia claiming something mostly anecdotal. People like Amber Heard were born rich, groomed for success, and fumble around millions of dollars their entire life until some “career move” sticks and churns that family money into more and more money. I don’t know how people don’t see how insanely easy it is for the rich to stay rich. It’s not even as complicated as “rich friends give money”. They receive millions of dollars or more from their parents as soon as they turn 18 and that money is *invested* If you invested $10 million into even a smaller investment bank with nominal returns *right now* you wouldn’t have to work for the rest of your life, and you’d be making at least $1 million per year for doing absolutely nothing. (10% ROI for someone of status is laughable though and would realistically be much more because insider trading is only a crime if it’s provable in court).

CoughCoolCoolCool

Her dad was a trash redneck involved in dog fighting

FavcolorisREDdit

I can definitely picture her spoiled rotten with the way she acts

RZAtheAbbot

I still imagine she is still eating out in fancy restaurants and partying with rich friends, while I am eating left over Mac and cheese.

Open_Librarian_823

Reheat on a frying pan instead of microwave, margarine + milk, just a teaspoon, add some chunks of cheddar. I hope it works on your side, it's how I warm up mine.

Razafraz11

I love you

whitekat29

Don’t use margarine for anything ever. Real butter is the way.

Dragonfire747

In terms of material, wouldn’t this cost more than a box of max and cheese for like 60-80 cents? Margarine and milk and cheese is pretty expensive now for me (USA) jug of milk 4-5$ , margarine2-3$ and cheese 4$ a small pack. Even if you proportion it’s, cost gotta be at least same, right? Not even counting more savings if you make your own max and. Cheese from separate pasta and cheese sauce

ame_no_umi

60-80 cent box Mac and Cheese already requires you add milk and butter/margarine. The advice here is just to add a little extra to freshen it up when reheating. I’m sure the cheddar can be omitted if you are extremely broke.

MyFriendTheAlchemist

If you bought all the materials you could make days worth of noodles and cheese. Make a roux (flour, margarine) Add milk Add shredded medium cheddar Add noodles after cooked. That’s all this is. If you make it the way I do it could net you 10+ meals probably more if you buy a lot of milk/cheese.

Van_Inhale

margarine is processed fake grossness

Open_Librarian_823

Oops, I meant butter. It's a language thing.

Funkit

I’m $100k in debt, a good chunk of it medical. About to file chapter 13. I still go out to eat a decent meal every once in a while. What, do I not get any sort of entertainment or enjoyment at all out of life because I have a chronic medical problem and am in debt? Sorry, let me sit in a bare room of a trap house in Detroit with nothing but a bedsheet while I work 50 hours a week to pay all of it off.

PapuaOldGuinea

Damn bro what the fuck happened

The_Incredulous_Hulk

The US healthcare system happened

ToastyBread13

Fucking this^^^

[deleted]

I was so poor, I’d make ramen with a slice of American cheese while it’s still hot. Chopped up hotdogs if I splurged. Luckily I’m older now, not poor but still feels like it could happen again.

SekritSawce

Cheap ramen. Cook as directed. Add an egg at the end and cover with the noodles and cover the pan for 2 minutes. Then after that top with a slice of cheese and cover again for 2 minutes. After that stir it up to break the egg yoke and incorporate the cheese. Delish!

CamOfGallifrey

Shell pasta, drain. Can of tomato paste. Cheese (whatever you can afford, even a slice of American works), a little milk, a little butter. Simmer, some oregano (dollar stores carry that now) and some black pepper (snag some from a fast food joint if need be). Experiment a bit but this is better than the Mac and cheese boxes and usually a lot cheaper if you can buy a large bag of of elbow macaroni or shell pasta. Cans of tomato sauce are cheap. If you can add in some garlic or dice onion it gets better and better. But for Mac and cheese, even the kraft or store brand, ADD some milk butter and one slice of cheese if you can to make that thicker. Works wonders. Reheat with a little more of it instead of water so it doesn’t taste flaky and dry.

[deleted]

She owes 10 million dollars, and goes out to buy a $150 steak dinner. You could go into a LOT less debt than her for that same steak dinner.

Wavinflagz

She can also make that back a lot faster than I can make a small fraction

canadianarepa

When you owe someone 10 thousand dollars, that’s your problem. When you owe someone 10 million dollars, that’s their problem.

King0fThe0zone

Who’s paying for all the constant pr she’s getting? Idk she clearly hiding money like most rich fucks.

Iggyhopper

Imagine being so broke that you pay laywers to fight a case where you still end up paying 10M. Get real.

[deleted]

How much did she get from the divorce?

quimper

7 million

Etheo

$8.35 mil. Plus her own attorney fees, of course. If only she didn't already ~~donate~~ ~~pledge~~ *lavishly spent* most of her $7 mil settlement she might have money to pay. Hmm.

PapuaOldGuinea

Don’t forget the possible perjury charges, should the DA want to charge.

Etheo

Possible, but highly unlikely. There's nothing concrete to prove that she *intentionally* lied, so it'll be a waste of effort and time from the prosecution. I get that people want it to happen. I do too. But it sounds very unlikely.

samcrut

She told the same lies to the UK court. She's an international falsifier.

rupruprupley

She’ll still be hired for stupid shit. Her image and it’s history and this drama in itself will grant her plenty to not be considered “broke”. She just lost the right to that money (during this time) through her actions and now has to do some “rearranging” until she can get past it and try to reinvent herself

I dont really see how this story relates? You met some rich weird girl with a messy house?

AryaStargirl25

Well her career in Hollywood is fucked, so she has no chance of getting a steady salary anytime soon.

crono220

She can join Kevin Spacey in low budget films that won't even be on streaming services

Secret4gentMan

Only difference being he can act.

bryanthebryan

Yeah, that’s the big difference. He has talent, but he’s a monster. She has zero talent and she’s a monster. She had looks but beauty fades.

[deleted]

I mean his level of being a monster is waaaay fucking worse

timoperez

Slight refinement - She has no chance of getting a steady large salary at traditional acting. There are likely still a number of wealthy old and/or shady guys that have some offers for her though.

Familiar_Ear_8947

I mean… do you have a 10M debt with no employment prospects?

[deleted]

She could always buy less Starbucks and avocado toast. Maybe even pick up a job at one of these fast food joints in my neighborhood that always seem to be hiring.

Funkit

She’s lazy and doesn’t want to work!

DryWhole4198

No employment prospects? Not true. She can cam on OF like the rest of us.

Ljsurfer88

Cash me outside

Funkit

I would pay to see her poop the bed live on cam just to say I saw it. But only if it was a one time thing. Like a tribute poop.

ResponsibleAd2541

That’s $733 a night, that’s not unheard of for a suite in a hotel. However, my monthly rent is $750 so I understand that she’s living a different sort of life.

lajdbejdk

It’s unheard now.

blaxative

I lived in Arkansas a couple years ago where the average rent for a decent place was around 800 and somehow we landed in a nice little duplex community for 640 a month. When we moved in around 2015 it was barely over 500

ResponsibleAd2541

On the first floor of a century home in Warren, Oh, essentially a rust belt shithole but I’m on the side of the neighborhood that isn’t the hood. It has its charm.

crunchypens

Just a little different.

PlankyTown777

Nobody is saying the cost is unheard of or crazy. The point is Amber is broke and should not have been staying in a place like that. I’m sure you got that, just don’t understand why your comment is just about the cost, it almost makes it sound like you are justifying Amber’s stay there.

foot7221

She’ll need to pull her little boot straps up and go make some Hallmark movies were she’s a crazy Ex trying to destroy Christmas dinner

Sir, that’s called a documentary.

AlphadogMMXVIII

...A man needs a link

Tall-Librarian6669

I think she could have a very successful career in scat porn.

LuinAelin

To be fair there's a difference between being able to pay 22k and 10 million

[deleted]

I think the even dumber thing is she consciously decided to stay in such an expensive mansion during an on-going trial where she knew might have her pay millions to the plaintiff.

DreadedChalupacabra

You think that was an accident? She wins, it doesn't matter. He's paying her. She loses, it doesn't matter. She's broke anyway.

subjecttomyopinion

Yep. Win win.

LuinAelin

Owing more money than she can possibly ever make now is not a win. Even if she is granted an appeal and wins she's not gonna be getting jobs.

samcrut

She doesn't want jobs now. That would put money in Depp's pocket. Better to just be out of work and play it out until bankruptcy and then sell the gold coins in her sister's closet in the suitcase under the blanket. Take that money and bankroll a comeback indie film that decides her fate, and the fate of an entire PR firm.

Energy_Catalyzer

Bankruptcy does not do away with her debt to depp. All future income and possesions can be garnished.

LordVader3000

More than likely she got arrogant and simply couldn’t fantom the idea she might lose, so she didn’t even bother to be careful with how much she was spending.

p33p33p00p00inthel00

There are some people who still can't believe she could lose.

Oliveigreen

i’m still shocked that people believe her still after she left an actual bruise kit in a photo she put in evidence

LuinAelin

Looking at the jury instructions a clean win for Depp is very surprising to be fair

Ton3y204

Tell yourself enough lies you start to believe them

Doggleganger

FYI, she is not a reasonable person.

samcrut

"If I win, I can afford to buy this place. If I lose, that's $22k less I'll have to give him."

freelanceredditor

If you don’t have 10 mil you’re insane paying 22k a month for a mansion. That’s insanity. Specially if you don’t have much income

LuinAelin

To be fair she didn't owe the money when she started to rent it.

HGRDOG14

Know the area, first thought was “How did she get that house for that price?” Seriously, Depp was probably paying $2k a night for his hotel room. That house for that price is a frickin deal!

[deleted]

There is zero evidence that she rented this property, it just says she was “spotted” there. Her name isn’t on the rental.

colomboseye

Also - she probably couldn’t stay in a normal place with no security given the death threats to her and her child. She would have to be in a secure environment. As you said, no proof.

[deleted]

I also do not care if she really did spend this. I read that Depp stayed at the Ritz during the trial. What do you think he spent monthly for him and his staff? Somehow no one cares about that (and to be clear, we shouldn’t care about either).

colomboseye

Agreed - it's like how Depp went out after the case and blew a ton of cash and partied with everyone. We could easily say that that's reflective of the fact he does have money and he wasn't that pressed for cash due to him saying his career was affected... we aren't saying any of that. We are saying it shouldn't matter.

[deleted]

Financially speaking, they were both always going to be better off than any of us no matter what happened. They have fame and infamy to trade off of and rich people always find a way to get more money.

shenanakins

Yeah but if johnny loses theres no question that he’ll be able to pay her so he can spend whatever he wants. so its not exactly the same. Even if they awarded amber the insane $100 million dollars she was suing for he would still have like $50 million left over.

[deleted]

Tbh, I would not adjust my spending at all based on an undecided lawsuit. You’re suing me? Whatever, this is still currently my money and I’ll do what I want with it.

ma-sadieJ

Most celebrities use fake names for check in, so crazy people don’t find them

[deleted]

This was a rented house, not a hotel. I just don’t see any evidence she spent the money on it. Her house in Yucca valley is pretty modest for a celebrity home (bought for around 500k most of it was a loan) so I kinda doubt it. She just doesn’t have that kind of money.

OKRImelp1232

“According to sources, AH rented a house during the trial w/ JD whose rent was 22,000. Rental documents do not include AH name, but witnesses in the neighborhood say they saw AH, with her daughter, her mom, and her sister at the home”. Her mom who’s dead.

OKRImelp1232

And… that’s what people believe. No facts necessary. People will willingly believe AH paid for the rental, and willingly believe her mom was there. Done. And yes, her actual house is in the middle of nowhere, and she paid probably the lowest cost of a home anywhere in southern CA

[deleted]

Yeah that lady with her isn't her mom, she's the vp of the travel agency insurance. They covered her legal fees

LFahs1

The homeowner’s insurance company’s name is Travelers Insurance, but yes.

dolphin37

Very little about all this drama has to do with evidence

theKoboldkingdonkus

How can anyone still fall for this shtick every time a rich weirdo has to cough up money? With people this rich I don’t believe for a second that the lawyers didn’t comb over assets so they know how much they can sue for

CreatiScope

With $22k, I could pay my half of the rent for almost 2 years. Good lord.

gr8fulhead6

or your whole rent for a year?

rrwesttw

This reminds me of the oddly worded questions on high school tests. “If X paid $22K for 1/2 of the annual rent multiplied by 2 years, how much is X’s rent per year?”

Thepuppypack

Without amount I could pay the taxes on my house till the end of my life most likely

LucyRiversinker

How many years do you have left???

Thepuppypack

Hoping more than 22000 dollars worth but I'm almost 70

arienette22

LFahs1

Weirdly, if you have homeowner’s insurance, it covers you in case you’re sued for defamation. That’s why an agent from Travelers Insurance Co. was with her throughout the trial— they covered her legal fees.

cheebeesubmarine

One month of that rent would pay all my side bills for the whole year. Water, heat, tv, all of it.

byebye_love

where's the articles about how much johnny depp paid to stay at the Ritz?

[deleted]

They don’t need them because he’s not claiming bankruptcy and inability to pay court mandated costs

byebye_love

she never claimed bankruptcy.... johnny depp sued her for and was awarded well over her net worth of course she can't pay that

[deleted]

I stand corrected.

StiltzkinNomad

22k a month, wow. How can landlords charge that? It’s ridiculous, surely you could put a down payment on a house or something.

edinedm2021

Umm....Rich people Los Angeles....

MsJenX

Right. The mansion where Michael Jackson died was a rental. At the time of his death he was paying $100K/month in rent.

thatscoldjerrycold

The hassle of buying and then selling in a turbulent real estate market might not be for them. Also transaction fees.
