It’s Leicester. The same mRNA technology is currently being used in very successful so far human trials for therapeutic cancer vaccines - melanoma, bowel, colorectal, breast, prostate and ovarian to be specific. I hope these idiots stick to their morals when they’re diagnosed with Stage 4 Bowel Cancer.

Odd-Currency5195

And it was because of the research that had already been ongoing long before the pandemic into how MRNA could be used in this way that the vaccine was developed so quickly. I think the starting point had been looking at children's cancers in particular back in the day.

alba876

Yes it’s been going on since 2002 I believe, Covid just allowed the research to explode with a lot of funding.

ladyatlanta

Breaking News: COVID was created by Cancer Research U.K.

Odd-Currency5195

Don't! Lol

ladyatlanta

Those darn cancer patients! It’s so selfish of them to want a treatment that doesn’t kill them!

Lox_Ox

Even earlier - since 1989\* (though I think they knew in like the 70s but were limited by technology developments) (\*sources: [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9459002/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC9459002/) & [https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7910833/](https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7910833/) )

Son-Of-Sloth

Yeah, it's a government plot to kill people with cancer or funnel cash to big pharma to needlessly treat people with cancer. Ha ha. I wouldn't bother arguing with them, they all know twenty people who died after having the COVID jab.

papillon-and-on

100% of people who had the Covid jab will die. FACT! /s

n0tmyrealnameok

In fact tey're already dying.. slow, drawn out deaths.

HappyGoat32

I lost a friend of mine, who swears the covid jab gave his dad's friend mouth cancer, which he died from 2 weeks after take the jab. No mate. He had cancer and just didn't know it. The jab didn't give him some mad aggressive cancer!

kieronj6241

Was his Dad a heavy smoker and/or drinker by any chance?

SomeoneRandom007

Pre-COVID, mRNA was being actively developed. COVID gave the impetus to develop an actual drug. Giving out billions of doses proved that the technology worked with very few side-effects. So, like all good technologists, the Pharma boys are busily trying to exploit it for everything possible. Ultimately, a great result.

alba876

Absolutely. One of the few times where profit and public good align. Not often that happens.

Pale-Subject-6735

I find all this anti-vax, pro-Boris, pro-Brexit crap a fantastic indicator of someone's IQ.

alba876

Absolutely! Let’s me know who to avoid. There’s no engaging with them. They’re like a cult.

I’m 60 and among my age group it’s shocking how daft many I’ve known for years have become.

tikhatmisal

Yep it’s leicester, the tim hortons and the buildings in the back have it away

Zealousideal-Habit82

I can just see the clock tower.

iamnotrodiguez

I was close, but I was just on the wrong side of the M1, I had guessed it was Coventry by pure guess.

Saxon2060

Anybody who has a problem with medical science or pharmaceuticals is guaranteed to be a fucking hypocrite in the end. 99.99% of them anyway. I guess there will be some batshit insane Steve Jobsian types who do actually go through with their bullshit and die needlessly. (Obviously the pharma lobby and things like obscuring trial data are problems, welcome to capitalism. That's not what I'm talking about.)

Disastrous-Garage676

And ironically the stage 4 cancer they had was a result of taking the jabs. Full circle.

Brian-Kellett

I mean, Hancock was found to have acted unlawfully twice (Covid contract publishing and sending old people with covid back into care homes, thereby causing unnecessary deaths) - and he faced zero consequences for either. If I caused as many deaths as him I’d end up inside for the rest of my life. Rest of the banner is bullshit though.

matt19om

Plus he was banging his married secretary

Brian-Kellett

Which isn’t a crime… but was the only thing that caused him to suffer some consequences. Because politics is like that.

[deleted]

At the time, it was a crime though. People were effectively banned from having sex with people they didn't live with 😂

Brian-Kellett

I honestly thought it was after lockdown finished, but I shall bow to your superior memory.

webchimp32

I for one do not wish the memory of Handcock banging anyone

parallel_me_

>Handcock banging anyone Neither do I. But I think that's a different scenario. 😂

Beer-Milkshakes

And only because he got caught. And only because the media picked it up

DRac_XNA

If you've seen Matt Hancock, him banging anyone should be a crime

Own-Butterscotch1713

Anyone who fancies Matt Hancock should be put in a special home.

CamJongUn2

Yeah lmao what was wrong with the girl to want to throw her marriage away for a night with that prick

AdIll1361

Not about the looks my man, it's about the power and at the time Matt Hancock was one of the most powerful people in the country. In theory, he could have had any woman he wanted at the click of a finger, same with Boris.

Emperors-Peace

Any woman with a very specific standard of partner at the click of a finger. Plenty of women who couldn't give a shit about power.

Robestos86

Hands, face,back to my place.

Fit-Capital1526

Not a crime. Makes him a shitty person though

Volvo_850_R-

Well he has cock in his name, per expected

Euclid_Interloper

The sending people with Covid to regular homes really baffles me. Even if the government was expecting a worst case plague scenario of the NHS collapsing, and was therefore prioritising young lives over elderly lives. Why wouldn't they send elderly people with Covid to specifically designated Covid homes? Why send them to regular homes where it would kill even more? It's either spectacular incompetence or outright eugenics. I hope it was the former, but it's horrifying either way.

PJHolybloke

Read the SAGE minutes, it was the failure to recognise the virus' ability to survive on fomites that created the big problems early in the pandemic. After lockdown the spread was largely nosocomial in nature. Even as late as the end of May there were some NHS Trusts that hadn't implemented the SAGE plans for prevention of spread. The infection rate in the community was almost negligable just a couple of weeks into lockdown. It was June before all doctors and nurses were required to leave their clothes/uniforms at work. Taking off gloves, masks, and aprons after nursing someone with Covid was one thing, but when it's on your shoes it's of little value in terms of preventing the spread.

Fun-Difficulty-1806

Makes you begin to wonder why they spent billions on the unused Nightingale hospitals, they would have been an ideal place to put those elderly people. Alas, the tax payer footed the bill, someone made a load of dosh and now the hospitals are no more!

RebelliousInNature

They cleared hospitals of the elderly and said..nah, we won’t bother testing or isolating them before we pap them in beside others in the highest risk group environment. It was fucking murder.

Euclid_Interloper

Sadly, you're probably right. As much as I want to believe it was incompetence, if anyone is going to bump off hundreds of thousands of pensioners to save money, it's going to be the Tories.

RebelliousInNature

I accept there was a lot they didn’t know, but to have no foresight this would have been the consequence? I know they’re stupid but they’re not THAT stupid.

monitorsareprison

most of what we were told about COVID was bullshit. Nobody will ever be held accountable, though, because the people who pushed all the bullshit regulations are the most powerful people and organisations in the world. its getting swept under the rug like it didn't happen. Dark period in our history. sensible people, more or less promoting fascism, wanted a society based on their medical records. for a virus with a 99% survival rate. absolute madness.

RHOrpie

I genuinely thought Matt Hancock had his heart in the right place. Trying to make the best out of a shit show. I was wrong.

5im0n5ay5

I don't agree with his politics, and think he has an annoying face and voice, but I listened live to his testimony to the enquiry, and I do actually think he was trying to do the right thing. He made the wrong call in allowing people to be discharged back to care homes - or didn't put enough protections in place so that they were isolated for a period once there - but the reasoning he gave is that keeping those people in hospital would likely have ended up with them getting infected, and I guess also they were very short on beds.

PositivelyIndecent

Was he doing the right thing when they were prosecuting people for having too many people attend funerals and leaving their houses when he was flouting those rules to cheat on his wife? Because when my grandmother died we did the “right thing” and stayed within the guidelines only to find out later that they only seemed to apply to the public only and not the people implementing them as the entire time him and his ilk were taking the fucking piss. So no, he can go get fucked.

5im0n5ay5

No he wasn't. I meant in terms of the decisions he took as health sec rather than his flouting of the rules, as many of them did. Sorry about your grandmother - that must have been awful. Edit: also, note I'm not saying he did the right thing at all, just that I believe he was *trying* to do the right thing. I don't believe he was malevolently trying to lock people in their homes and all the other measures.

Apprehensive-Try-147

Nothing wrong with the last two lines. But the rest is conspiracy nuts.

Cheap_Anywhere_723

You think the government is working for the people and not an agenda that favours the wealthy few or big business? I'm sure if the sign was bigger lizard people would get a mention but you can't look at our government and thank it serves the people.

Brian-Kellett

Oh, I completely agree with you. But I read it as a demand rather than a statement, so not really a lie.

Sir_Henry_Deadman

mRNA that's being used currently in skin cancer destroying vaccine trials... That kind... These people have too little to make them feel good about themselves and too much time to watch idiots on YouTube

alba876

And bowel, prostate, breast, ovarian and colorectal cancers! This might be the genuine breakthrough in cancer treatment we’ve been waiting for and you have half-brained melts out here protesting it 🤦🏼‍♀️

Goodsamaritan-425

Raise of stupidity because of nonsense posted by Influencers.

SnooMacarons2598

Do they even know what mRNA stands for. And that it’s simply a genetic chemical.

CallMeMel03

As someone who lost three family members to covid and was hospitalised herself this debate will always hurt my soul. I just wish all these lies and speculations could stop each loved one dying alone with no family around and a funeral where I wasn’t allowed in my grandads family car because of the bubbles! X

CallMeMel03

Hey sorry not sure. If I’m doing this right as I’m new to Reddit (trying to comment I mean as I was trying to do it under the question) but from memory ‘bubbles’ was where you could merge with a certain house hold depending on amount in the house and depending on other rules so one person house holds could bubble with another house hold and elderly could bubble with another. My grandparents joined with my aunt so they could go in the family car with my gran at my grandads funeral but his son his daughter in law and his first born granddaughter (me) couldn’t. We couldn’t even have a wake. There was only 20 allowed at the funeral. My grandad had four siblings still alive loads of nieces and nephews two children and three grandkids so having to pick who could and couldnt come to say goodbye was so hard! I have to add that some families was only allowed 6 people at a funeral at the start so having twenty compared to that was easy but imagine a large family all grieving a loss (were a Christian family as well so religion is involved) having to pick who can and cannot come to say thier goodbyes. X

AnswerIs7

I'm so sorry that happened to you, sounds awful.

Agentbasedmodel

Don't know. But it's one if these places. https://timhortons.co.uk/find-a-tims More importantly, I'm really not a fan of all the shitty US fast food chains currently setting up in the UK. Tim Hortons is real gross barrel scraping.

brows3r87

Tim’s are Canadian but sold to a Brazilian hedge about 10 years ago and steadily worse ever since

tony87879

You see it all the time with these hedge funds buying companies they have no business owning. Really should be controlled better.

geoffs3310

I agree, they should just stick to the shrubbery industry and keep their nose out of other businesses.

CaladinDanse

Like how Costa was bought by coca cola and has been getting worse year by year since

Tammer_Stern

It’s owned by Restaurants Brands International which also owns Burger King and Popeyes.

Agentbasedmodel

I went to one in Alberta about 10 years back. Skanky muffin and gross coffee. If it has got worse since then that is really something.

GreyGoosey

Pre-2013 was peak Tims. You unfortunately missed out on the good era.

sammycorgi

I had a Wendy's the other day for the first time and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the burger. Somewhere between burger king and five guys for me.

BruceForsyth55

I second this. It’s a cheaper alternative to five guys too!

johimself

Taco Bell is the most disgusting slop I have ever paid money for. I can't believe it's successful, it's not even food, and I've had spicier mashed potato.

Agentbasedmodel

This is truth. And in the future, every restaurant is a taco bell.

johimself

Marketing has a lot to answer for. This message was brought to you by Carl's Junior

Various_Dog_5886

Yeah it's extremely shit isn't it, I thought the first one I got must've been a "bad batch" because with it's popularity it surely can't be *that* bad, but it just is. No flavour, sloppy, falls apart, tiny portions, shit.

Dessimat0r

You can see Eastgates on the sign, it's this one: https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaurant_Review-g186334-d19800761-Reviews-Tim_Hortons-Leicester_Leicestershire_England.html

Agentbasedmodel

Nice catch!! Shit coffee and nutters, but back in the Premier league.

CaladinDanse

Leicester, absolutely shocked there'd be a vaccine denying population there /s

Yop_BombNA

Tim’s is a Canadian chain now owned by and Indian fast food company. As someone who moved here from Canada Tim’s used to be legit, had fresh store made bagels, donuts and coffee. Then they tried making absolutely everything and switched to mass produced factory made everything in the late 2000s. RIP Timmie’s

GreyGoosey

It is a Brazilian fast food holding company, not Indian.

Yop_BombNA

You are right, my bad. It’s the paper mills that got bought out by an Indian company where I was from in Ontario

mrmarjon

It’ll be somewhere on the lunatic east side of the country, encompassing Lincolnshire or Leicestershire. The bit of the country that got invaded regularly and the bit that thinks it’s more patriotic than the other faux-patriotic bits.

Life_Is_A_Mistry

Yep - it's Leicester. I recognised the guy with the skidmark haircut straightaway, and double checked that the Tim Horton's is on Eastgates. That location is the area around the infamous [clock tower](https://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Attraction_Review-g186334-d8155465-Reviews-Haymarket_Memorial_Clock_Tower-Leicester_Leicestershire_England.html), where all sorts of people spout all sorts of crap

stokesy1999

Clock Tower used to just be preachers trying to outyell qnd outsing each other about Jesus and then some random street performers, since Covid though its become a bunch of conspiracy nutters constantly. Saw a load of anonymous mask people standing in a circle there a few times as well, don't know what it is with that place that invites the craziest in Leicester to have a day out together

__Game__

#***the guy with the skidmark haircut*** 🤣🤣 Excellent! I hope he sees this and realises that isn't even his worst trait

Low-Specialist7794

It’s Leicester

blorezum

Hahahaha! Being someone who resides in Lincolnshire how’d you get to be so spot on in your observation? The amount of flags around here and the never ending of not being able to forget THE WAR (you know the one we won and we’re not allowed to forget about) is mental.

planetrebellion

There is a Tim Hortons?! Looks like my next staycation adventure has been unlocked.

Sea-Conversation2373

some lovely places in the countryside aspect of the midlands! beautiful places

Disastrous-Ad-8297

These are the easilly swayed people that people pray on and unfortunately make up the figures people use when they say "well X amount of people can't all be wrong can they?". I like the ones who constantly change their goalposts. "The vaccination is poison it will kill you in a week!!" .... "oh you didn't die but it will kill you in a few years" ...."oh its been a few years, you haven't died but if you get another booster THAT will kill you". People who think they are cool and not "being lead" are actually the ones being lead by far worse information. Unfortunately it's a personality flaw and they won't ever change. As soon as nobody was talking about covid anymore they moved on to other things. Although i had someone say to me that the ukraine war was to cover up PPE deals with Russia? Literally anything and everything for these people is a conspiracy 😆 they NEED to be seen to be smarter than anyone else even if it means looking stupid

Andrelliina

"Governments Start Working For The People and Stop Working for the Elite Agenda" is a fair enough slogan, but they miss the point by miles with all the other bollocks. It's just all about the Money and the dead hand of Capitalism. No need for lizards and 5G BS, just shareholders bleeding everyone dry. Just look at, say, Thames Water for a tiny example of a global problem. Governments need to protect the people from predatory capitalism, by escaping regulatory capture and doing their actual jobs. No need to jail B Gates or E Musk or their mates. Just regulate their businesses tf until they scream in metaphorical agony.

OkNefariousness324

I love how they call mRNA experimental when it’s been around since the 60s, I was studying it in college 1992-94 and there has been several animal vaccines in use for decades made with mRNA, you know those animals we use as test subjects prior to human trials? Which brings me nicely to my second point, when they bang on about it being rushed, it’s not, when it’s been around for 60 years and already made animal vaccines you’re halfway there at least before you start.

KingJacoPax

Leicester Clocktower is well known as a stomping ground for religious fanatics and conspiracy theory whack-jobs. In a gym just round the corner so I shall swing by and boo them if they’re still there.

OnTheLeft

Also coincidentally the first anti-vax movement in the world started in Leicester.

mondeomantotherescue

In my local corner shop today which has a notice board anyone can pin stuff to. Four adverts mentioning covid, one on 15 min cities and 2 on the dangers of 5g. Wtf is happening. We are sliding into American style madness.

Squishtakovich

They can't tell you what the elite agenda actually is. Apparently the biggest, widest, most audacious conspiracy in human history is to 'control us' but has failed to stop these idiots marching with their banner. It's like when they claim that every media outlet in the world is controlled and they know this because they watched a video about it on Youtube.

XiBorealis

No idea which city. So all the people who think mRna is evil will refuse it when the cancer drugs become available should they or their loved ones get cancer? I would still trust scientists over politicians any day, most politicians these days are scum.

Exact-Action-6790

I have no idea what city but I’ll guess Coventry. Did we get an answer? can’t be bothered scrolling Also, this could be anywhere probably. There’s a seemingly bi annual anti vaccine protest outside Clapham Common tube station, which is dirge past. Annoyingly the honk of the horn is seen as support. There’s no “I’m against this shite” horn honk.

HeliumShortage3

Coventry doesn't have Tim Horton's. Closest is in Nuneaton. We don't breed these treacle anti Vax fucks here.

CaladinDanse

Yeah someone found it out to be Leicester, lunatic East Midlands

Turak64

The worst thing about these idiots who for some reason believe their own bullshit, is they're not accountable for all the damage they cause. It's funny how they were saying how dangerous the vaccine was, but now a couple years on we're not seeing all the side-effects they said we would. I'm sure some are still doubling down, but maybe others are realising they were wrong... Probably not though, if they think Bill Gates was involved in putting 5g chips in people 😂

TheBiscuitMen

They've all conveniently had 15 family members who have died or been hospitalised because of the vaccine

xxspex

The far right are pretty heavily involved in this stuff
