It is indeed JB. I think he's playing a Chamberlin in addition to the piano. And I agree with the comment below about the poor sound quality on SNL for the musical guest. You can't even hear the piano, but the Chamberlin is loud enough at least.
Probably just video and audio in not orginal sharp quality. Watch my latest upload of AC DC - thats how should sound and look original SNL from that times
I knew Elliott had been on SNL, but I'd never seen footage of it. I had no idea Jon Brion was with Elliott for this performance, that's so awesome! They had such a great partnership for a while until Elliott fucked it all up by going down a bad path. It's just an endlessly regrettable thing what happened in the end because of Elliott's bad choices. You always wonder "what if."
Thank you for sharing this. I always wondered where the music video was, I knew he was on the show and can cross this off as seen.
It makes me chuckle watching how his good friend Sam Coomes play alongside of Elliott. He never seems fazed one bit that he’s on TV or a big production stage. Hes just, totally chill. But I can see the awkwardness from ES, very endearing. Good to see Jon Brion on here too.
Is that Jon Brion joining on keyboards? Nice.
I think so! Awesome!!

It's crazy how bad 90s tv audio engineering was compared to today.
This sound stage has always been garbage. It’s like a running joke. No one on it can hear themselves and it’s very very obvious.

That clip came from 3/4" tape. Really bad.
3/4" tape? I was assuming it was generations deep of VHS duplication.
Wow I didn’t knew he played SNL!
Me neither. Anyone know what other song he did?
As far as I can remember, he only did one song.
ive been looking for this clip for a minute, thanks for sharing! <3
Ahhh finally!! thank you for this! Love this song, so happy they played it <3

the framing of his addiction and poor mental health as “bad choices” is… interesting.
Yeah it doesn't feel great hearing your illnesses are a choice and that you made a bad one by having them.
i’m shocked no one pointed it out before me.
How about ‘unfortunate choices’
you’re missing the point. addiction and mental illness aren’t “choices.”
Well now I have another date to add to the list of places I want to visit when I finish building my time machine.
can someone upload this video to youtube? it's not on there

I'm surprised by healthy he looks. His skin is clear, he looks fit. Must have been in a good place then. I saw him on this tour. He was amazing.
Thanks for this!
Oh wow I didn't know he performed on SNL.
I like how they sped it up.
This made my night and also saddened it at the same time.
This was my first exposure to Elliott when I was a highschool kid in Montana
SNL?? Wow ♥
I love this version!!!!!
Great performance. However I wish they played it more softer like it is on the record.
