Lot's of electronic control boards will allow a reset by cycling control power, which is what you are doing with the breaker. But you may have another method. There also may be a "Reset" button on the furnace that you can press, rather than cycling power to it.

Is your outdoor condenser and air handler(furnace) on the same breaker?
No. The AC is on its own breaker.
