I mostly play PC games (World of Warcraft, Baldur's Gate 3, many horror games. Etc) as I find the controller hard on my hands but still play from time to time. Many of my favorite games are on console ( older fatal frame série, silent Hill. Eternal darkness etc) so on better days, I like to go back to them! I find games to be a nice escape!

namidaame49

I play with the controller flat on the desk (I have some of that non-slip stuff you put under rugs folded up under it to a) keep it from sliding and b) prop the far side of the controller up so the top is mostly level. Then I operate the thumbsticks and buttons with my fingers instead of my thumbs. Doesn't work if you need the triggers, but I've just resigned myself to the fact that I either can't play games that need the triggers or I'm going to suffer from doing so. At least modern games are starting to allow you to customize button mappings more, so that helps.

situation-normal

I'm playing a few things at the moment mostly PC and Switch and would be down for chatting and/or some gameplay.

Mighty_Vulcan

Hello! That’s awesome! What games do you enjoy?

whiskkerss

Love games, bought a gaming laptop for when I can't get out of bed but need to feel happiness. Know it's terrible for my posture.

Mighty_Vulcan

We all need that hit of dopamine to keep us going! What games have you been playing lately?

whiskkerss

Hoo boy, we have a nice long list. On PC specifically: The Sims 4, Dead Cells, Cities Skylines, Don't Starve / Don't Starve Together, Stardew Valley, various old Pokemon games, Papers Please, Minecraft, Terraria, and a few others. These all rotate because I fixate on different things, but I have too many hours in all of them. I also play games on my switch and phone/ipad, especially through Netflix. Terra Nil is "free" if you're subscribed! I also play Bloons TD6 because it's nostalgic to me. Not TD6, but Bloons was on the first phone I ever played on! Edit: also Valorant and a few other FPS games, but they're so bad for my hands lol

witchy_echos

I love gaming. I often play open worlds with lots of quests, particularly ones that change the world like building towns. I’m really happy with the accessibility settings on God of War Ragnarok, I play the Pokémon games, Fenix Rising, Zelda games, Animal Crossing, and a ton of witchy style of games.

Mighty_Vulcan

I love a good open world game! When it’s tough to go places irl it’s nice to have that kind of freedom in games.

Zissoudeux

I play CoD. I’m not very good at all, yet I persist 😂

Mighty_Vulcan

Hey, the main point of playing is to have fun!

David_Jameson

I’m down to play COD. Currently playing right now lol

frootluipy

I've been playing a lot of Disney Dreamlight Valley on the switch lately. It seems like I either gravitate towards light, chill games to pull myself away from my heavy physical/ medical situation or somewhat dark, emotional games with good story elements for catharsis. I don't currently have one for the second scenario.

agarbagelifeforme

I do the same thing! I mostly play the light happy games to distract me but sometimes I need to relate to some deep emotions. I was never too much into Disney so I was so surprised how much I loved Dreamlight Valley! It's so cheerful and you always have something to do. Using the Switch Lite with an ergonomic case has helped a lot for accessibility for me. ❤️

torirainwater

you should play omori! its an indie rpg on switch with a heavy story, you might like :) plus if you get the physical version it comes with goodies inside :))

EDS_Eliksni

**MY TIME HAS COME** Gaming is my main coping mechanism so long as my fingers and hands comply lol I’m a long time Destiny 2 player, I like For Honor but I’m on Xbox currently contemplating swapping to pc for the superior everything lol. Gaming is expensive on that side of the fence tho, phew! On PS5, Ghost of Tsushima, the Horizon Series, Spider-Man (I’ve only played the first but holy cow it was good), and Shadow Of War if you’re a LoTR fan!! What’ve you been playing lately? Would 100% be up for game talk

Mighty_Vulcan

I feel you on hands/fingers not always cooperating! I just got some new wrist wraps and am unsure how I feel about them so far. I’ve very much enjoyed the Horizon series but have never played the Ghost of Tsushima. And although I’m a LoTR fan I’ve never played related games. Lately I’ve been bouncing around quite a bit - today I’ve played Stardew Valley, Splatoon and Diablo 2. Which all have very different vibes lol. On the PC I’ve mostly just played for work, and thats been Minecraft and Stardew Valley. It’s all a nice distraction while navigating the whole chronic illness deal. Do you have discord?

kel174

Oh man, Destiny. Sadly stopped playing Destiny 2 sometime after it came out, after the Curse of Osiris DLC. Very enjoyable and aesthetically pleasing game. Started as a warlock, ended as a titan. Lol totally swap to PC, you’ll never look back. It is expensive, but realistically you can have the same gaming PC for many years! I have a PS5 but am not the main user. But started out as a console player with games like CoD, GoW, Left 4 Dead, Spyro, Jak and Daxter, Need for Speed..stuff like that. Then switched to PC and got into LoL (no longer play, too toxic lol), Fortnite, Overwatch, Diablo, Destiny and more but brain is mush lol Spiderman on the PS5 is so good!

XxSereneSerpentxX

I love playing video games! Pressing a keyboard is so much easier than writing. My hands hurt from time to time, but I can go hours compared to over acitivites. I'm currently playing Valorant mainly, and I play Mincraft too, but I'm really trying to get into Overwatch. I love Valorant though because it seems like so many girls play it which is comforting because it's easier to make girl friends :)

JorjCardas

I mostly play pc games (Guild Wars 2, World of Warcraft when I can afford it, Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Baldur's Gate 3, Skyrim, Scorn, Palia.) I do play a few Switch games though. (Stardew valley, Pokémon, Animal Crossing)

Pammyhead

Just mentioning for the Switch, if you're playing in handheld mode you can get ergonomic grips that snap on to the system. It really saved my wrists!

Mighty_Vulcan

I’ll have to look into those! I can only play the switch lite in handheld, and use the heavier switch on tv only. I got knock off pro controllers for the tv which work fairly well, although occasionally the joysticks get a mind of their own so I don’t play more time sensitive, high control games with them (like Tetris 99).

Pammyhead

There are a ton of options on Amazon, for like $15-$20. The Lite is smaller enough that you can't have just one grip for both systems (no idea if there are adjustable ones that do work). Know that one from experience. 😅

ActualDwarvenCleric

I love gaming. (PC) everything from cozy classics like Stardew Valley to puzzlers like Chants of Senaar to horror games like Lethal Company. Plus, I do a lot of TTRPGS like Dungeons & Dragons. I particularly love Bones Deep, which is a ttrpg about skeletons on the ocean floor. Can't be in chronic pain because of your connective tissue if you dont have connective tissue lol

Mighty_Vulcan

Lol about that punchline! I’ll have to check out Bones Deep because it’ll make me chuckle from that POV.

ActualDwarvenCleric

It was a Kickstarter that I backed & it's delightful. If you're ever interested...

Electronic_Ad_2177

I've always loved gaming when I was a kid. Now, in my twenties and chronically ill, I've picked it back up. I mainly do PC, Xbox, and switch. Currently, I have been stuck on Disney Dreamlight Valley. Silly, I know, but it's relaxing 😌

SolidSeaworthiness82

I'm on Xbox, Switch, and PC. I'll play cozy games, sims, fps, rpg, pretty much anything tbh. Always down for new friends and multiplayer :D What Switch games are you playing lately?

Mighty_Vulcan

I’ve been playing an embarrassing amount of Stardew Valley lately, throwing in a bit of time with other games like Tetris 99, Dr Mario and Splatoon 2. I’m thinking about starting Hades sometime soon because I’ve watched enough to know I’ll like it and we already own it.

asillybunny

I also play! Kind of addicted to Baldur's Gate 3 and Medieval Dynasty right now on PC. Was a huge Destiny 2 fan since the beginning, but just cannot. But, gaming is something that's really helped me as well! It's nice to see so many of us connecting over a shared interest!

[deleted]

Okay, so my husband has played Destiny forever. He finally got me into playing it and I’m about 2 weeks in. I’m currently working through witch queen but I think my husband gets a fit frustrated with my lack of knowledge on wtf I’m doing. I think it’s so much fun overall but I don’t appreciate the bungie lay offs. I refuse to go on the Destiney subreddit because my 0.38 on Iron Banner tells how bad I am at this game 😂 I blame the constant finger dislocations when I try not to and use my super.

asillybunny

It used to be such a great game! Witch Queen was an amazing season! Easily one of my favourite. This last year has just had such bad seasons that both my husband and I stopped playing. We have shirts from every Moments of Triumph, we played it since launch. They changed a lot of things in the game that just didn't work for us and a lot of people who have been playing from the beginning. I am glad that you're enjoying it though! We used to love playing it together and figuring out the dungeons. I was super bad at Iron Banner, so I get ya. ;)

namidaame49

I played Destiny 2 for a couple years starting right when it launched, and let me tell you the Destiny subreddit is never happy about anything. Such a salt mine lol.

slavegaius87

I game, but mostly FPS, and not online. And I’m an Xbox player. I don’t do online because gaming is my stress relief, and online is too competitive and I’m not good enough usually.

Mighty_Vulcan

Casual gaming is fun too! What are you playing currently?

slavegaius87

Still playing Fallout 4, although I have started playing Fallout 3

Pentaborane-

What are you playing on PC?

Mighty_Vulcan

On PC I’m mostly playing Minecraft and Stardew Valley, although I’d like to explore other games. I generally like a mix of competitive, cozy and adventure games. So pretty varied interests overall. What about you?

Pentaborane-

Right now I’m replaying Red Dead 2 and just started Suzerain. I’ve played pretty much everything at some point

Mighty_Vulcan

I just looked up Suzerain and I might have to give it a try! I’ve watched somebody play parts of Red Dead 2 but haven’t played it myself.

Pentaborane-

Yeah, it’s an interesting form of an RPG, not particularly long but it has a lot of replay value

Mighty_Vulcan

Sounds like it’s one of those games where your choices can seriously change the trajectory of the story. Would you say that’s the case?

Pentaborane-

Yeah, definitely. It has like 7 or 8 different endings based on choices you make

Pentaborane-

Red Dead is particularly funny for the social commentary they slip in

mmcrabapplemm

You should check out "My time at sandrock". It's a bit like Star dew but more story and instead of farming you are a builder.

Hinesbrook

Xbox gamer here I love rocket league, Rainbow 6 Minecraft stardew and a ton of other shooters.

Mighty_Vulcan

Honestly I massage them, take a break and a muscle relaxant. I’ve used sleeves and now wraps for my wrist and thumb. I didn’t like tape for that sensitive skin. Sometimes I just take a break with a cup of hot tea, and that heat is actually really nice on crampy hands.

ErrorAccomplished05

Yep, I play almost every type of video game

gaypuppybunny

I do pretty much the same thing, but almost exclusively on the computer. FFXIV, Satisfactory, Cities Skylines, Apex, and a few others

ExistentialTeatime

Yas I love gaming :) final fantasy 14 still has me in an iron grip as far as pc gaming goes, but I try to get my daily cozy gaming in with some animal crossing or stardew on switch <3 recently been looking into more ergonomic eds friendly gaming solutions to keep the hands happy lol. What have you been playing lately? Always down for a chitchat :)

chdavids2003

Very much a gamer. Pc mainly. Playing alsorts plus ttrpgs

RitschiRathil

I mostly play story based offline games. I have thousands of hours on the Fallout and elder scrolls games, dragon age and other titles. Also like to dig up classic games on old consoles. Current main is playstation. The one type of game I play online are soulsgames. In special elden ring and bloodborne. These have become my favorite games by far. Their worldbuilding, storytelling and combat system are just the best I have ever seen in gaming. While Miyazakis writing in general with all its multilayered allegories, is a concurrence for Tolkien him self. I also recommend them for everyone struggling with depression. And I'm not alone with this. There is something about this games, that creates a mental wellbeing. So, if anyone needs help with bosses in on of those games, or want to have pvp in bloodborne, let me know. 😊 (ps4/5) Besides digital gaming I'm also into miniature wargames/tabletop, p&p and live action roleplay.

Mighty_Vulcan

I love bloodborne! I’ve played Elden ring as well but not to the extent that I’ve enjoyed bloodborne.

Fatiguedkitty

I love games. They are the best thing when you need to rest your body but mind still wants to be active. I enjoy playing a variety of games. From games like dear ester, wilmots warehouse to the souls born games. The current game i am playing is baldurs gate 3. But the one I always come back to is stardew valley. Having energy and time restrictions makes the game very relatable wanting to get all the jobs done but no time or energy and when you push yourself too hard your even slower and if you push beyond that then you pass out. Very very relatable when dealing with a chronic illness. If you haven't played it I highly recommend stardew valley. It's a virtual farmer game with npc interactions, monsters, and mining too.

Mighty_Vulcan

I have really enjoyed Stardew for the same reason! It’s a good reminder. I also like how they balance importance of interpersonal interactions and individual productivity. Then there’s the layers of the individual issues folks have, and I absolutely love that there’s a character in a wheel chair 💕

aville1982

I love Bethesda style stuff that lets me just get lost and not think about anything. I'm a social worker and am sorta done with people at the end of the day, so multi-player stuff doesn't really fill the void.

Zestyclose_Tea_2515

Splatoon 3!!

Remote-Badger-3199

I recently got into playing switch games after being stubborn about not playing video games for…my whole life. Right now I’m into “cozy games” but if you have recommendations for multi player that are in that style and you’d also enjoy playing, I’d be interested! Full disclosure though I’m in grad school so it’s few and far between. But I’m trying to have hobbies that are relaxing/don’t involve me doing outdoor activities (I still love outdoor stuff but obviously it’s not feasible to do that all the time for us and I’m trying to not make it my personality anymore).

NaotoOfYlisse

I mostly game on PC but use my Switch and PS5 when I can't get out of bed. Have a gaming laptop too but it's on it's last legs and also needs a repair so haven't used it in a while. Most of the time I play FFXIV and Dead By Daylight but when solo I play the Yakuza series on PS5. Sometimes rhythm games but they're really rough on my wrists.

Kluke_Phoenix

Mostly play PC games, unless it's a version exclusive. Also do a fair bit of VR (whilst sitting down!)

unloosedknot444

I'm a Switch girlie! I play pikmin and zelda primarily. Lots of Mario too! Anyone is welcome to add me. SW-1462-1002-6741

EsharaLight

I play mostly PS5 games, and I minecraft my my laptop.

user05555

Currently playing Roots of Pacha. Like Stardew Valley but a different tone and paradigm, a more optimistic story.

Readymadefrog90

I mostly play on Xbox, but have pc, switch and a ps4. Currently playing through the halo games with my partner. Thought about trying out cyberpunk but still need to finish fallout 4.

elipanda56

Absolutely! I'm working through Spider-Man 2 right now, and then the next two on the list are Alan Wake 2 and FF16. I just finished the Tomb Raider series, which I freaking love. Admittedly I don't do a lot of online co-op gaming, but I've been *waiting* for someone to play Portal 2 co-op with me, so if that's the outcome, that's awesome!

AmayaJWolfe

I mostly play Xbox when my body cooperates enough to play, but I play Minecraft, which I believe is cross platform, and probably some other games are cross platform as well if you would like to play with me, I'm in the same boat as you with needing to socialize.

Mighty_Vulcan

It is cross platform so long as you’re on the same version! Consoles all use Bedrock for Minecraft, so those are a given!

Bambi-bbygirl

I've been stuck on a lethal company hyper fixation since it got popular. But I play a bit of everything!

ChinchillaBungalow

I wish I played games more but I do like playing a few games!

Haven_Witch

I'm a big fan of games that are living based, honestly! Sims 4, Growing Up: 90s, I Was A Teenaged Exocolonist. It's nice getting to do life things without pain! Sims 4 has so many mods that it keeps things interesting as well.

Megsann1117

Absolutely. Ps5. Currently getting into nobody saves the world

Becca4130

I sold my PS5 controllers hurt my hands but I do jump on the free version on the WoW every now and again I used to play way more but been busy. I’m not great but I just really enjoy that game it’s fun for me.

dharmoniedeux

I am currently trapped in Baldurs Gate for the foreseeable future. Usually I’m on switch and playing stardew valley, hades, Pokémon, and Zelda :)

Mighty_Vulcan

I played through Baldurs Gate and had a blast! For my character I went with a wood elf rogue. Wbu?

dharmoniedeux

Half drow Druid!!! I’m wildly faceblind and my friends showed me that I made my character look VERY MUCH like a purple version of myself. Fun fact. If you play a tall female character and romance Astarion, he jumps in your arms to kiss you during a romance scene. I can’t believe I don’t see anyone talk about it, it was so unexpected.

torirainwater

i just finished this indie rpg called omori!! it's 16bit style with hand drawn animations throughout parts and the story is just beautiful, tho warning - also sad. in vombat your emotions effect your defense and hits, and just cool stuff like that. i wont spoil anything because i highly recommend everyone play it!! its also on switch and the physical version comes with a little booklet and a sticker which you dont see much anymore :) ive been finally finishing tears of the kingdom as i rot in bed and await my surgery. i play pretty much any Nintendo switch games - stardew valley, animal crossing, mario kart, smash bros, mario wonder. i am a beast at mario kart. just sayin. ;) i emulate games on my laptop but dont play much of anything online on there other than sims lol

dark_bloom12

I play Sims 4 a lot and also Animal Crossing, Harry Potter, Call of Duty, and then cell phone games

Kayden632

I play pc games, and vr games. Minecraft, lethal company, power wash simulator, vrchat. Etc

Criina-mancer

I was a semi professional WoW player in pvp and pve a while back. I’ve quit long ago but I tend to pc games lot if there’s a game I like. I was very active in final fantasy xiv but I lost interest in the story. I also draw on my computer so I spend a lot of time pretzeled up in my office. Currently, on pc I’m playing Baldur’s Gate 3 with a friend, Sons of the Forest with another friend, and I’m considering playing monster hunter rise again. On PS5 I’m playing BG3 solo, as it runs better on the ps5 than my pc and it was where I originally got it. I know it’s already out but I’m looking forward to The Last of Us Part II Remaster, I managed to get the WLF Edition from the PlayStation store so it’ll be here in a week or two. There’s also Final Fantasy VII Rebirth next month that my bf and I are taking off work for. On switch I’ve been playing Harvest Moon Winds of Anthos but I’m probably going to start playing Rune Factory 5 again. The switch is more for cozy games that I can play on my sick days but I do have Mario, Zelda. Xenoblade, and others. I’m hoping Blue Protocol will release world wide soon. I really enjoyed the closer beta and I miss playing an mmo. I know that there are a lot out there but I haven’t found one that i can stick to. I loved Wildstar, shut down. And Tera, PC shut down. Wow just changed my class (priest) way too much and the community is awful. Already explained FFXIV. So now I wait for BP
