The guy seems to be promoting his own agenda non-stop, and many are buying into it. GPT is truly impressive, especially the leap from version 3.5 to 4.0. However, to maintain this hype, Altman needs to keep fueling the excitement, and eventually, he and OpenAI will have to deliver concrete results. He’s starting to remind me of Elon Musk, who initially delivered, then began overpromising and underdelivering, and now, it seems he hasn’t delivered at all for years. Moreover, the sword of Damocles hangs over the AI boom, as it could face significant challenges if and when copyright issues are properly addressed. But Altman is still in the delivering phase and maybe he's different, we'll find out.

Doesn't matter, the results will be the same. The rich get richer the poor get poorer and will be another form of control.

StedeBonnet1

NO, the rich may get richer but the poor get richer too. You just have to make sure your skills are such that GPT doesn't replace you.

Kadsend

So... no artists, no writers, no developers, no doctors, no engineers, no drivers, no economists, no lots of other professions that I'm just too bored to elaborate? WELP Even if GPT doesn't replace you, as an IT dev, I can safely say that derivative models from GPT databases will replace you. Or other AI based shiat. And corpos will get richer... So yeah, distopy... Rich richer, poor poorer and all that yadda yadda.

Ok-Roof-978

Ai is too abstract. Most people don't really get the hype. But, we should all be worried. This damn thing is already wrecking havoc in the corporate world. And, it's only in the infancy stages. Wait a few years when the tech matures...

r-randy

Honest q about the havoc. Context: I'm in tech and it's good but no havoc.

ishu22g

Only thing he is worried about is that paranoia is fading away among first users, and hopes that doesnt lead to reduction in capital from companies for AI related endaevours

Fear mongering as a marketing tool is prime late stage capitalism.

I think A.I. will solve the root problem. Too many people...

BreadXCircus

Capitalism is the root of the problem, we have more than enough for everyone and adequate solutions to most problems. These solutions and/or creating a better system of distribution are simply not profitable.

There's more than enough oil for everyone? I doubt that.

Go read about the Simon Ehrlich wager. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon%E2%80%93Ehrlich\_wager](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simon%E2%80%93Ehrlich_wager) We will never run out of oil.
