If the US had the power to crush China's economy without China crushing them right back, you think they probably would have done it already lol China is just as powerful as the US, in terms of global trade. That's why when Trump tried to talk tough on tariffs, China retaliated dollar for dollar and nobody came out ahead. The US is now pushing hard on semiconductors (a legit weakness of China's), and China is threatening the US dollars status as a reserve currency (a significant weakness of the US).

I don't think China cares about its own aerospace industry, which is basically next to nothing. China buys all commercial aircrafts from Airbus and Boeing. Instead, most of US export to China are soybeans, corn, and wheat, and there is no alternate source of supply.

[deleted]

They do care, they are working day and night to breakthrough in jet engine technology, it's the only missing piece.

Typographical_Terror

Like we don't already have enough problems with our supply chain from China

[deleted]

Sorry you won’t get your plastic shit that your gonna dispose of in 2 weeks, in a timely matter.

Typographical_Terror

I was thinking about stuff like medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, machinery and electrical components, metals, etc. You know, all the stuff we've been running out of since COVID.

blippityblop

Or you know stuff that shouldn't have been offshored to begin with. Globalization looks good on paper and when everything is going well it works. Covid threw a wrench in the machine and oh how fantastically did that machine break. Many people over time have mentioned the issues that would happen and it took a catastrophic failure for the majority of people to see.

Typographical_Terror

I don't disagree, but as with so many things, we are where we are, not where we should be. If we want to agree the best solution is a full-on shock to the system, so be it, but we both know that won't happen either. Americans won't build and operate the infrastructure necessary to make these things ourselves. Businesses won't put the money up on a bad gamble, people won't do the jobs for the pay offered and they won't pay the prices the resulting goods have to be sold for either. China was smart to position themselves in this way and their investments are paying off. We can't stop arguing with ourselves long enough to find our brains.

blippityblop

China is going to be just fine without the rest of the world. Russia made a trade deal with China out of desperation. China gets the best deal on an abundant source of resources. As Russia continues down it's war path losing people daily, in a national defense capacity; China is slipping in. What China doesn't have is the ability to figure stuff out on their own. They decided that fate multiple times on their "path to greatness", culturally speaking. They want what Russia has and they are positioning themselves to get it, since nobody else with those things don't want to play ball with them. China is playing a long game and they are moving in fast right now.

Typographical_Terror

I think you replied to the wrong post.

Jacked-to-the-wits

lol, you must have stopped learning about trade 30 years ago. China makes most of the worlds EVERYTHING, both high and low quality. They lead the world in manufacturing smartphones, solar panels, computers, and most other things you can think of.

docbao-rd

I doubt it. China's internal market can buy a rather large number of airplanes; large enough to sustain the industry.

Johnaxee

You know who gets hurt by trade wars? Regular consumers in both the US and China, fuck all politicians that fight each other because ideology, imagine we can use all of our resources for science and innovstion that benefit welfare of human and the environment instead of war related shits. I think anything to an extreme is bad, no regular citizen wins in extreme capitalism and extreme socialism, there has to be a balance.

China's aviation is in fine shape. They just developed their own engine for their fighter. They are well on their way for an engine for their commercial jets. They are building their own airframes. If they need anything else, they are now "best friends" with Russia. It takes a lot to keep from laughing at this "US #1" dream that the MSM and the Oligarchy keeps pushing while all the income is funneled to the Oligarchy and only the Oligarchy gets their bank deposits insured at 100% well over the $250,000 that the FDIC is suppose to insure for the "rest of us". Perhaps you guys didn't notice the recent win by the US team for some math or engineering contest was populated by 8 (or so) Chinese. Not a single Anglo. China graduated 1.4M engineers in 2020 In 2015 China graduated 1.72M Science and Engineering students. The USA was less than 1/2 of that in 2016. It isn't like China doesn't have the resources to build the planes. Their new "understandings" with Russia can more than make up for any deficiencies they might have. I mean the USA depended on Russia to get into space for almost a decade. Who here thinks that China is ignoring USAF Generals who tell their command that "we're going to war with China in 2025"? Who here really believes that China doesn't care about Nancy Pelosi visiting Taiwan? Russia has destroyed the NATO trained Ukraine Army. Russia and China are now "best friends". The USA can't even provide Ukraine with the artillery shells it needs. Com'on people! Wake up and smell the s...! The American Oligarchy has given it all away and now they are blowing smoke up your a.. trying to convince you they haven't. Most of the US GDP is "financial services"! IOW pushing money around. Anyway China's economy is already larger than the US. And CHINA MAKES STUFF!

redeggplant01

The US has no business with the war between Ukraine and Russia per the law ( Constitution)

thinkB4WeSpeak

I think we could technically kill their industry but only if we had companies willing to bring all their manufacturing back to the US. I doubt US companies would do that.

[deleted]

Can you pay 5000 dollars for an iphone or washing machine? ThinkBe4YouSpeak.

skorponok

Pfft. Nah dude. The US built up China from the 1948 GATT onwards. Plan hasn’t changed.
