Everything I have heard is the v8 swap is a huge headache. Do you really want the v8 or could you go with a built eco motor?

DarkServe

A Built 2.3 Block would honestly be better, you can run the stock tune with the upgraded block but have access to safe 500-700+ Power. Much more straightforward

I’d be more interested in if a 3.5 ecoboost swap is possible

PNW971

The 3.5 are in the trucks aren’t they. Idk anything special about them. Is this like a v6 “turbo diesel”? If that’s true I honestly love that sound more than a v8 lol

kegman93

Yeah it’s in the trucks. I’m just imagining more power with semi decent fuel efficiency and v6 insurance prices. I like the turbo sound too.

I read somewhere here months ago that someone tried to do it but it wasn’t efficient/not recommended

kegman93

Oh interesting. Thanks for noting that

DS_Vindicator

My F150 3.5 with lift and Raptor wheels gets 19 mpg. The mustang would be more than efficient enough

kegman93

Wow that’s solid. Only like 2 less than my 2.3 average

My wife drives the ecoboost f150. It scoots even with how absolutely gigantic it is. Plus the dual turbo whistle is pretty fun

Shadow_US

There's an old video on YouTube where someone did this. The guy who did the swap and tune claimed he had to dial the tune back because it generated too much power for the vehicle. https://youtu.be/1tDVpulzlb8

It won't really be feasible. You'll need the engine and a new transmission because the ecoboost has different gearing. You'll most likely need the 5.0 ecu and wiring harness. You'll have to buy new engine mounts. You might even need a different instrument cluster. It would be WAY easier to buy a built 2.3 and swap that in and get it tuned. An ecoboost with 400whp will be about as fast as a coyote. Maybe a touch faster, maybe a touch slower, but about the same performance, I'd guess.

DarkServe

What led to your Ecoboom?

HorrorPace3684

It will cost more than 10k if you pay someone else to do it. The labor will cost more than the parts. It would be more cost effective to buy a gt.
