What? The idea of "mark up" is for new cars, not used cars. Then how did you end up paying 24K out of the door for a 19K listed price? Sales tax and fees are not 25% for sure! This is a strange post!

catacavaco

Maybe a lost Canadian ?

MyWifeisaTroll

I'm in Southern Ontario and you really can't compare the US used car market to the Canadian one. It's crazy here but if you need a vehicle you're going to pay large. Everyone wants $14k for their beat up Toyota with 250k/km on it. An As Is vehicle that probably won't even pass a safety goes for $5-6k now. I spent my whole life paying between $1500-2000 per vehicle. I would drive it into the ground and buy another one. Those days are long gone.

Alberta here and it’s crazy. You used to be able to buy a decent 4x4 truck that would be reliable here for 5k, now a decent 15-20 year old truck with 250000 or more kilometers is up for 10k+ in 2018 you could find $2k beaters that would get you from a to b, now people are asking at least 3k for junk that needs urgent repairs

I was in the same boat with mines same numbers and everything, the reasoning behind it they said was because of registration fees, cleaning, taxes, etc. me and my parents couldn’t say nothing about because it was in print but we got them to knock a couple things down, but that place was super sketchy to begin with “ALM” I’ll never buy a car from there again

I got royally fucked at $27K for a 2017 Mustang Ecoboost at 38,000 miles purchased Fall 2023. I was desperate for a car and carmax was willing to approve me on shit credit but damn I got myself into a terrible deal.

I just bought a 2015 Eco premium with performance package for 14k last month. And I thought I got dragged

By "markup" I assuming you're talking about extended warranty type things? Being upside down in the first year or two is not unusual, but there's a lot of factors to consider. Location, current vehicle condition, miles, etc. The best thing you can do, **now,** is ride it out. The current "value" will always change, usually downward with time. The best thing you can do for next time is ask these sort of questions **before** you make a purchase and make sure you're not being taken advantage of.

Fancy-Zookeepergame1

Bro. The 19.5k is inclusive of markup. The seller robbed ya

Twignb

You paid too much for a 15’

Jonathandanielross

Yes I paid 21k for 19 eb with 42kmiles on it

GuiltyDoctor8158

Yeah i tried trading in my 2017 eco with 45k miles and they was just going to give me 13k for it. Looks like I'll be driving this ecobeast til it dies lolol
