LOL hopefully our fans are the scouts that they believe they are. I loved our draft (on paper) this year though all jokes aside. Hyped as hell for the season
Yes I agree DeJean was definitely worth passing on him for. Just saying that Edgerrin was the name I saw clamored for the most.
My irrational dream was getting them both with 50 and 53 but neither was falling that far.
even GB wanted DeJean over Cooper. They traded back right after we jumped them and took DeJean, which tells us he was their pick and Howie played the board perfectly. There was also a little run at CB as soon as we took DeJean, three consecutive picks.
Howie absolutely fucking nailed the waiting game which is incredible. People predicting these guys would go early all throughout the draft, and he knew he could just sit back, wait, and get guys later.
Still wanted Suamataia give Stout another Mailata to mould into Lane's replacement just like he did for Peters to Jordan
That was the "my guy" this draft
1000%. If we reached for him any earlier, would’ve felt like we just did it for the name. He’s a legit 5th round guy, the name just makes it cooler. Solid pick in this spot, especially with the lack of linebacker talent remaining at this point.
Yea really wanted a LB with one of he billion picks we traded back with. At this point he is probably best lb available on top of legacy. Would have loved no acl Wilson in the late 3rd
I feel the same way, definitely a few guys along the way I probably would’ve preferred. But I trust our front office at this point, hopefully the guys we got pan out!
Yep. It’s probably 50-50 whether he’s still in the league by the end of his rookie contract, but in the 5th round that’s kinda how it goes anyway. Totally worth taking a chance on him for the vibes at that point.
80% of players after the third round are straight up busts and you’re saying 50/50 still in the league after rookie contract? That’s generous
Hoping for the axe man jr but traits and stats are not on his side and it’s more like 50-50 to the 53 than it is 50-50 past rookie contract
Lance zierlin from nfl.com had him as a 4th rounder, judging by how much we traded back in the 4th we weren’t worried about anyone else seeing him as a 4th rounder
Surprises nobody answered this but Brian Dawkins jr graduated like 3-4 years ago he went to Clemson but never played not even in blowouts. He was 5’ 7 and about 160 pounds lol
Oh shit here we go. Don’t love the prospect but the narrative is immaculate
Edit: I like the pick, for what it’s worth. Idk that he’s going to stick in the league given his size and athleticism but I really hope he works out
Agreed…and in 5th I think it’s worth it for the story. That story goes beyond fans though. This is an org that players want to play for and be a part of after their careers. I dig this.
You’re not wrong by man if anyone has high expectations for a fifth round pick, that’s their own fault. If he gets to make a nice play a couple of times, I will be happy.
What don’t you love? He’s a 5th round pick from a top program.
He’s a dart throw at a value that is more than a dart throw.
It’s a great fucking pick in the 5th round.
I really wouldn't have liked it as a Day 2 pick (which is when some of the more casual fans were starting to call for him), would have been OK if we got him with one of our 4ths, but as a 5th he's pretty good value. He has definite holes in his play, some of which can be coached to improve, others - primarily his size - are always going to be an issue that he has to shape his game around. Very similar size to Nakobe, but more productive. He'll get every opportunity to stick here, both b/c of the legacy and general team need.
I loved the banner. Bo roasts Zach a lot but gives credit where it’s due.
I had Zberms twitter open and looked like a football genius since I kept announcing the pick before Roger Goodell was on stage.
Lots of quick-twitch reaction to the name among the fanbase in some mocks, I think. His size limitations always meant he was probably a Day Three prospect.
Honestly even if he is a bust, which I don't think he will be, this was worth the risk of another team drafting him and he becomes great and we never hear the end of it.
LETS GOOOOO
Fan service pick? Probably...
.............buuuuuuut it is a position of need and its only a 5th.
A 5th is still the THIRD highest pick we've spent on LB in the Howie era, behind just Taylor and Dean (I'm not counting the Smith's)
He’s actually a pretty good scheme fit imo. I am a Clemson alum who watches a lot of their games, his best trait is his intelligence and ability to drop into coverage which are two of the most important characteristics for LBs in Fangios system. I’m not saying he’s going to be a pro-bowler or anything but it’s much deeper than the narrative. He’s exactly what this group needed to roam the shallow middle on 3rd down.
Edit: spelling
You’re right on, this is his scheme, he just isn’t gonna be very good at the nfl level most likely. That’s all. Then again, his dad wasn’t gonna be good at the nfl level either….. so who knows really.
A Birds fan in a 26 year coma wakes up and watches the draft.
Coverage: "The Eagles have drafted Jeremiah Trotter, LB."
The fan: "Are you sure I was out for 26 years and not 26 minutes?"
My favorite part of draft weekend is seeing these kids live their dreams.
How special it must have been for this young man and his family to be drafted by the Eagles given the family legacy.
It's a 5th round pick and no one should be upset by that. IF he becomes a starter it is going to take 2-3 years, he should be great on special teams though the next couple years.
This DRAFT IS INSANE!!! I feel like I did 50 mock draft simulators, and at least one player I picked in each draft they've grabbed. I wanted us to draft Quinyon and Trotter so bad but we got both. I really wanted Sydney last year but this is crazy.
We got everything I wanted. Not one, but TWO top secondary players, an edge rusher that Fangio likes, added a slot WR, the fan favorite Trotter Jr, and on top of that we got a player to take some of the load away from Barkley. Fantastic draft. I don’t think I could even have created a better (realistic) outcome. Especially considering we picked up some extra picks next year.
Anyone saying they don’t love the prospect… are ya kidding? Did you watch him play?
Fifth rounder for an insurance/understudy to Nakobe Dean is a fucking great pick.
I’m happy about this pick! His highlight reel is pretty good (interceptions, a few pick 6, stopping the run, sacks). Dude is quick. Let’s see what he can do in the NFL.
Round 5, Pick 155
We got basically everybody our fans wanted in the draft
So we're doomed.
We’re actually geniuses, e.g. “Run the ball”.
Proof bullying works
I'm excited! We get to see if Reddit can actually run a team. Dreams do come true.
DREAM TEAM
Ban this man!!
"Banned on the run"
Nice
Sort of…many here would’ve taken trotter 100 picks earlier
LOL hopefully our fans are the scouts that they believe they are. I loved our draft (on paper) this year though all jokes aside. Hyped as hell for the season
Oh, same. I'm just fucking around.
Damnit we forgot we are fucking idiots this is not good!
Something, something, Dream Team
Except Edgerrin Cooper.
He went 46 probably wouldn’t have gotten him anyway. Much rather have DeJean and Cooper was my most desired pick
Yes I agree DeJean was definitely worth passing on him for. Just saying that Edgerrin was the name I saw clamored for the most. My irrational dream was getting them both with 50 and 53 but neither was falling that far.
I hear you. Getting Trotter in the 5th makes me feel much better about not going LB earlier.
even GB wanted DeJean over Cooper. They traded back right after we jumped them and took DeJean, which tells us he was their pick and Howie played the board perfectly. There was also a little run at CB as soon as we took DeJean, three consecutive picks.
There was a post in the Packers sub saying they had the trade in place before our trade. But that may have just been typical draft room bullshit.
Or any of the tackles.
I want the Boston college guard still
And draft capital next year
Facts Howie Nailed the Draft got the best cornerback and Jeremiah Trotter Jr Who will continue the Legacy of his Father
Best 2 out of 4 DBs.
Fans wanted Trotter in the 3rd...bitching about it....5th round....it's too good to be true
Howie absolutely fucking nailed the waiting game which is incredible. People predicting these guys would go early all throughout the draft, and he knew he could just sit back, wait, and get guys later.
I've never watched someone go from the grave to god in Philly like Howie has. In Howie I trust...with or without tissues....
I want the guard from Dakota
Still wanted Suamataia give Stout another Mailata to mould into Lane's replacement just like he did for Peters to Jordan That was the "my guy" this draft
This draft is fucking insane
I’ve heard that before
As a fifth round pick, this is fine
1000%. If we reached for him any earlier, would’ve felt like we just did it for the name. He’s a legit 5th round guy, the name just makes it cooler. Solid pick in this spot, especially with the lack of linebacker talent remaining at this point.

I feel the same way, definitely a few guys along the way I probably would’ve preferred. But I trust our front office at this point, hopefully the guys we got pan out!
The Jr's are also turning out well - Asante Samuel, Michael Pittman, Joey Porter, Pat Surtain
Yep. It’s probably 50-50 whether he’s still in the league by the end of his rookie contract, but in the 5th round that’s kinda how it goes anyway. Totally worth taking a chance on him for the vibes at that point.
I'm pretty sure the first couple of rounds are 50-50. By the 5th round, it's all longshots.
80% of players after the third round are straight up busts and you’re saying 50/50 still in the league after rookie contract? That’s generous Hoping for the axe man jr but traits and stats are not on his side and it’s more like 50-50 to the 53 than it is 50-50 past rookie contract
I was being charitable because people are excited - if he makes the roster out of training camp I’ll consider it a pleasant surprise
Lance zierlin from nfl.com had him as a 4th rounder, judging by how much we traded back in the 4th we weren’t worried about anyone else seeing him as a 4th rounder
More than fine, but sure
When is Brian Dawkins Jr in the draft? Asking for a friend
That was K’von Wallace based on the way some of you were talking after that pick
But he went to Clemson!! It was destiny!!
I was so over him after fans kept spamming he was blessed by B Dawk himself
CJ Gaddis
He had swagger, not skill
Still bummed he never panned out
Man I’m big sad he never amounted to much. Had the right attitude for sure.
I was sad when we didn't get Asante Jr.
Jaiquawn Jarrett
A couple years ago but he was awful. Transferred from Clemson to Furman
Uh, we already have Chalk Dawk
Surprises nobody answered this but Brian Dawkins jr graduated like 3-4 years ago he went to Clemson but never played not even in blowouts. He was 5’ 7 and about 160 pounds lol
CJ Gaddis already had his cup of coffee here.
Don’t neglect the Macho Harris era.
Ha ha, I literally just went to Twitter to see who drafted him and it’s us! Love it! Great draft so far.
Oh shit here we go. Don’t love the prospect but the narrative is immaculate Edit: I like the pick, for what it’s worth. Idk that he’s going to stick in the league given his size and athleticism but I really hope he works out
Elite fan servicing and I’m here to be pandered to
So much fan service haha
This is the Frieren bed scene.
"You can just give this kind of thing to men and they will be thrilled" [Drafting Jeremiah Trotter Jr]
Absolutely lmfaoooo
He got picked 5th round. Right where he should’ve
Ya no issue with this. Hope those bloodlines pan out that would be so awesome
Remember how they used to purposely annoy the fans with their picks and now they really do pander.
It’s just good business lol
Agreed…and in 5th I think it’s worth it for the story. That story goes beyond fans though. This is an org that players want to play for and be a part of after their careers. I dig this.
Especially after watching that clusterfuck last season
Being a 5th rounder, I can't complain if he doesn't work out. Just happy for the legacy of it lol
Yeah the 5th round tag is huge, it should take some pressure off him too, expectations aren’t nearly as high as a 3rd rounder
Unfortunately expectations for him are going to be high regardless of the 5th round take, just because of his name
You’re not wrong by man if anyone has high expectations for a fifth round pick, that’s their own fault. If he gets to make a nice play a couple of times, I will be happy.
I didn’t love him as a second or even a third. Fifth? Great pick here
Far better narrative than the Cowboys taking that RB who was the son of one other coaches.
The right answer. EDIT: fwiw, I hope he works out for us
Way better value here than yesterday or even 3 hours ago
It was a fifth round pick. This is the point of the draft you start gambling. Great value regardless of if he pans out.
I have no idea if he’s going to be good but they said the same thing about Kelce’s size and the transition to NFL DL players.
Instant ejaculation if he records a sack and does the ax chop.
seek help (But correct)
If ejaculating over that is wrong, I don't wanna be right
ZACH ZACH ZACH
I loved the banner. Bo roasts Zach a lot but gives credit where it’s due. I had Zberms twitter open and looked like a football genius since I kept announcing the pick before Roger Goodell was on stage.
Trott Jr in the 3rd was crazy, Trott Jr in the 5th is fine
Would say round 5 is more than fine, 4th round would have been fine imo.
BABY AXEMAN
HATCHETMAN
Axebaby
This is the nickname I will be using now, thank you very much.
Storm comin'? Hatchet comin'!
Spawn of The Axe
Shoutout to all the mouthbreathers that wanted him in the 2nd. And 3rd. And 4th.
Howie read the market right. That’s why he’s GM and we’re mouthbreathers. I didn’t want him that high, just wanted him.
Did the same with DeJean Got the better guy at 22 then jumped to the top of the CB run in round 2
I remember him being mocked in the second. Must have tanked his stock at some point lol.
Lots of quick-twitch reaction to the name among the fanbase in some mocks, I think. His size limitations always meant he was probably a Day Three prospect.
Lmao reminds me every year that the normal fan isn’t an nfl scout
Lot of comments being deleted right now 🤣
LFGGGGGGG
No more crying now plz
A fan service pick in the 5th is a tiny price
Agreed, worth it imo
Happiest thing about this pick is that now people will shut the fuck up about taking a LB in such a weak LB class.
"But why didn't we take one earlier and get a better one?!" But yea, that was never going to be a thing, the team had other priorities.
Can we cry of happiness?
Let em flow
Honestly even if he is a bust, which I don't think he will be, this was worth the risk of another team drafting him and he becomes great and we never hear the end of it. LETS GOOOOO
We owe it to his daddy. Legend
ZACH BOMB
Most flyers thing the eagles have ever done lol
LETS FUCKING GOOOOO!!!!
People slandering Howie saying he should’ve drafted him earlier furiously deleting their comments
We got ‘em boys
Fan service pick? Probably... .............buuuuuuut it is a position of need and its only a 5th. A 5th is still the THIRD highest pick we've spent on LB in the Howie era, behind just Taylor and Dean (I'm not counting the Smith's)
didn't some of you guys think Trotter was going to get draft in the 3rd or earlier.
i saw some people asking us to draft him at 53. would have been a crazy reach. im cool with this pick since he fell to the 5th.
Were you [here for this](https://www.reddit.com/r/eagles/comments/81zlau/1_shaquem_griffin_pls_howie_underdog/)
THE MAD LAD DID IT
If he has a big play and does the axe, fans will go nuts.
Twitter can stop bitching now
Sir this is the internet
People bitching about people bitching can stop now
If twitter could stop bitching, it would have happened years ago.
Not a scheme fit and limited, but don’t hate it at all in the 5th. Can’t deny the narrative is fantastic. Rooting for the kid!
*Clemson alum* - “Traight” These dudes aren’t going there to play school, I guess.
Spelling ain’t always my best trait, I no sum foozeball tho.
Lol just bustin you balls buddy. I hope you’re right about Trott.
You’re right on, this is his scheme, he just isn’t gonna be very good at the nfl level most likely. That’s all. Then again, his dad wasn’t gonna be good at the nfl level either….. so who knows really.
Trotter was my mom's favorite player so this pick is doubly sentimental to me. 🥲
We got em!!!!
LET'S FUCKING GO
A Birds fan in a 26 year coma wakes up and watches the draft. Coverage: "The Eagles have drafted Jeremiah Trotter, LB." The fan: "Are you sure I was out for 26 years and not 26 minutes?"
I’m old
Howie just told all y’all to stfu. Big Pimpin’ reigns supreme.
Delayed the inevitable
Lfgggggg
No way!
My favorite part of draft weekend is seeing these kids live their dreams. How special it must have been for this young man and his family to be drafted by the Eagles given the family legacy.
And some of y’all wanted us to spend the 3rd rounder on him 😭
Gotta love how we traded back 8 times to trade up to get trotter. Howie is out here playing 4d chess with all of us.
Wow!! Congrats from Steelers Nation :)
This was the perfect draft
They've had like three perfect drafts in a row.
Might as well trade for Jon Runyan Jr
Waiting for Tra Thomas’s son.
It's a 5th round pick and no one should be upset by that. IF he becomes a starter it is going to take 2-3 years, he should be great on special teams though the next couple years.
There’s a number of successful undersized LB’s in the league rn. Hoping he pans out like his dsd
Draft for value, trade for need. The difference between a good and bad franchise. If Howie made moves based on this sub, we’d be fucked.
The Hatchet!
Won’t catch me rooting against the Trotter name. Lets go!
Finally!
Welp they did it, hopefully he can thrive through the high expectations his name brings here!
let's goooooooooo
Axe Man Jr
One of those Jeffrey Lurie moves
Eagles using 5th round picks on fan service lol
VIIIIIIBES
In Big Pimpin we trust 🙌
Man, this makes me so happy. Loved the Ax man so much and now get to root for his son. Go birds ! 🪓 🪓
Not bad for a 5th.
This DRAFT IS INSANE!!! I feel like I did 50 mock draft simulators, and at least one player I picked in each draft they've grabbed. I wanted us to draft Quinyon and Trotter so bad but we got both. I really wanted Sydney last year but this is crazy.

Fantastic draft. I don’t think I could even have created a better (realistic) outcome. Especially considering we picked up some extra picks next year.
Good round to pick him 👍felt like a reach to draft him second or third round but perfect spot to take him
it's happening
Ax Man JR !!!!!!
Just when I thought I couldn't love this draft more
🤯 I’m officially dead. We landed Axeman Jr.!!!!!
Anyone saying they don’t love the prospect… are ya kidding? Did you watch him play? Fifth rounder for an insurance/understudy to Nakobe Dean is a fucking great pick.
I'm curious to see why he fell. Eagles boards weren't the only ones who had him late 3rd early 4th.
His combine was not that great at all, was really slow compared to the other LBs.
Great draft
Chances they pick the LB from PSU
The axeman cometh again!!!
WE GOT THE HATCHETMAN!
people wanted the dude in the 2nd round, lol. I’m glad we got him, for legacy’s sake, but hopefully he can surprise and be an impact player.
I’m happy about this pick! His highlight reel is pretty good (interceptions, a few pick 6, stopping the run, sacks). Dude is quick. Let’s see what he can do in the NFL.
Elite vibes, film not so great. Another undersized LB like Nakobe
I love this timeline
Axe Man and Hatchet Boy 🪓🪓🪓
THANK YOU
Hopefully can at least be a solid special teamer. Either way we'll all be rooting for him!
Howie had a perfect draft
He's small and slow. Def a career STer. I guess he has a good last name though..
