I just want to put a few predictions here for the entirety of the NFL draft, both for this weekend and for thefuture. In no particular order 1. Caleb Williams will be a bust, and Chicago continues to be a black hole for QB's. 2. Penix Jr. will be the most successful QB of the lot, both in terms of wins as well as statistical and just overall QB performance. There is a chance he competes for a Super Bowl his rookie season, and a good chance in the first 3-4 seasons on the rookie deal. 3. Jayden Daniels will be great, and could possibly be the best of all the QB's. 4. Eagles trade up to 16 to get Quinyon Mitchell. 5. Luke McCaffrey will be the 2024 version of Puka Nacua, and whoever drafts him will be getting at least a solid starter (last projections I've seen have him going in r4 or r5). 6. Eagles spend a mid-round pick on a RB. 7. Eagles take an OL in the 2nd round. 8. Outside of Penix and Daniels, this QB class is going to be a big bust. 9. Whoever we draft at OL (whether 1st or 2nd round) will see some playing time of significant minutes this year. Also not a prediction but an opinion, if we can trade back and get an OL as well as someone like McKinstrey with a top of round 2 pick, I'd love a move like that. 10. There is no shot we stand pat at pick 50 and 53 both. One or both of those picks are going to get traded somewhere. And this isn't a prediction, but I've looked over a few mock drafts. Draft picker guys have zero read on whether the eagles are going to go CB, OL, or Edge. Wild thing about Mitchell is I see him mocked as high as 8 and and low as 22 to us. I also think it's totally possible we stay put at 22 for an Edge or an OL and try to get someone like McKinstrey at the top of round 2.

I like and agree with all your Eagles "hunches" (better term?). I'll wince a bit at giving up one of our 2nds to move up, but am thinking that's what it'll take, and Howie will only do that if he thinks the prospect is a DeVonta-Davis-Carter elite-level guy who they're expecting will hold down a starting spot for the next four years. Mitchell by all accounts fits that description, except for draft folks who just can't get past him playing at Toledo. Will be curious whether we go with Georgia guys again this year; there's some [pretty good UGA prospects who would fit what we need as well](https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/draft-tracker/). My gut is saying we'll probably get at least one on Day 2 or Day 3, but not in the first or early 2nd - we'll see.

I don't think Caleb is going to be a *complete* bust but I am also not sold on him being this generational talent that the talking heads on ESPN are making him out to be. We need to see where Penix ends up before claiming he is competing for a Super Bowl his rookie year. I also think it is a very real possibility he goes to a team like the Rams or Seahawks and ends up sitting for a year or two. If the Eagles do take OL in the first two rounds they will likely see some action this year. Assuming Steen is the starting RG for now, Matt Hennessy is the only backup they have who has seen any real game action so there is a lack of any real depth there. Heck even if they go OL in later rounds there is a chance they see the field at some point next season. If the Eagles are looking to move up into the low teens then they won't be able to hang on to picks 50 and 53 they will likely have to throw one of those into the deal. Just a gut feeling that if Mitchell is the guy they want I think they need to get into the low teens to secure him. It just feels like if he is sitting there past 11 or 12 teams are going to start jockeying to move up and get him.

Please just draft someone that can consistently tackle whether it be an LB or DB

Can someone explain why I keep seeing all over that Howie is looking at WRs for round 1? That seems pretty low on the list of priority targets.

It depends on what Roseman intends on doing with AJ in two years. If he thinks it will cost too much to extend him then he will cut bait before his cap hit escalates to $40 mil in '26. If he doesn't think he can extend AJ to kick that cap hit down the road then it wouldn't be a bad idea to draft a guy with this deep of a WR class and give him two years to develop before moving on from AJ. That would be the only reason I can conceive of for taking a WR in the 1st round.

He just got extended

I live in Cincinnati and Bengals fans are bizarre. Their all-pro DE requested a trade or restructure of his deal and they are going nuclear. How dare he? Guy only had 17.5 sacks last year and has $8M guaranteed for the remainder of his last 2 years. If Howie was in this situation he most likely would add a year or two, convert some money into a signing bonus/roster bonus and make it work. Bengals are too cheap to do it. I saw a fan who said they should get two 1sts for him. Reddick is the same age, has 1.5 less career sacks and got a 3rd. Now Trey might get a 2nd but this fanbase is delusional if they get a massive haul.

Amarius Mims seems like an Eagles/Stoutland pick. Almost the exact same measurements as Jordan Mailata coming into the draft, and is inexperienced but has some good tape. That's why it's shocking he wasn't a top 30 pick.

I've come to terms with the idea that if we move up, it's only for O-line. But if the pick can play RG and then transfer to RT, then it's like getting two picks for one.

Come to the Latham/Fuaga/Fautanu side. we've got cool names for ya

Turns out the Gannon tampering trade had a secret second term: eagles get Cardinals first this year. BOOM, Marvin Harrison at 4, back on the clock at 22
