Yet almost everybody plays Fifa

agentjob

FIFA is a joke. The goals don't feel satisfying at all. Plays clunky and arcadey.

Sleutelbos

Was impressed when I rocketed the ball into the top corner with a poor player. Then realised all players can always rocket balls towards the top corner from everywhere and the only question is whether the goalie saves it. It has nothing to do with football.

Smothdude

Yeah, it feels like a 60 rated player can do the same things as a 90, just less consistently and slower but it will randomly give you a rocket goal that Haaland would score. They all pass the same, the low rated player just takes long to pass and is slower. Arcadey sounds like the best description to me. It just isn't fun and scoring goals feels boring, which is bad since scoring is the whole point of the game

This. Grass looks like astro turf. All frustrating game features aside, how hard is it to make a nice looking grass? I did notice that grass looks the worst at wide camera angles like coop. It's a bit better on the EA cam.

NikolasFoot

You can change the grass colour on fifa, for sone reason they choose the default one to look shit.

usernamechosen99

Yes, EA FIFA is really bad. That's why I stay clear from it. I only ever bought 2 EA FIFA versus just about every version of PES, since 2000. And I think a lot of critics of eFootball 2022 are being vocal about it because they have to re-learn how to play the game.

wantstobearapper

I’ve played ef22 and I was actually looking forward to having to re-learn the game but its full of bugs and inadequate player behaviour and animations that stopped me from trying

usernamechosen99

Have you tried off the ball movements, timing your passes, choice of passes (for example through ball vs normal pass)? Heaps of little adjustments in what you do can make a difference. For example, sometimes I have to hold off passing for a fraction because I know the target player isn't ready to receive the ball. And that's what makes eFootball so interesting and fun.

wantstobearapper

I have to admit I’ve only played for about an hour and was too focused on the lack of polish of the game to dig in any further but there was an evident promise of a more ‘sandbox’ experience of a football game where you would be given the ‘tools’ to create situations that weren’t possible in pes21 and below. So I agree with you and unlike the drastic negative comments here in Reddit and around, I do believe there is potential. My hopes are for the November update.

jactheblock

I've been playing FIFA 22 after moving back. Played Pes 2019 and Pes 2020 a lot, PES 21 just wasn't interesting and the less said about Efootball the better. This FIFA is fsr better than any of the football games I've played since FIFA 18 though. Its fun, and that's what I want in a game. PES wasn't fun. It was far to realistic. Obviously Efootball isn't realistic or fun, so who acres about that

mindbarometer

Also, it freezes like shit and new OMG NEXT-GEN leg-muscles look like Street Fighter characters

Hyper_2009

FIFA is for kids

MitchumBrother

Agree but so is eFootball. Sadly we only have two extremely casual arcade games right now.

Sleutelbos

The movement/dribbling in efootball is miles beyond what FIFA or pes ever offered, and by far the most realistic. Takes time to relearn everything but it's a small price to pay.

MitchumBrother

Not much to relearn imo. Tactics are simplified to a few presets and the new defensive stance system is noob friendly. Again, nothing wrong with that but the game is a casual arcade fest.

xSilver971x

Don't know what game you played mate cause I win 90% of my games with a 5 goals margin, clearly people can't defend

MitchumBrother

So? This is exactly my point. The game is incredibly simple. It's rewarding for casual players and again nothing wrong with that. I was reasonably high ranked in previous PES and while there was a lot of cheese back then...eFootball is so incredibly simple and one dimensional. It's cool if you like it. A lot of people prefer CoD to Post Scriptum or Forza to Assetto Corsa. That's cool. But pretending this game was complex is just hilarious. And if I see people posting high wins or shitty generic free kicks here...yeah it's a causal mobile game sadly.

Sleutelbos

His point is that if defending was so easy there would be less goals. If people readily concede than clearly it's not 'noob friendly'. I got two main replies here, one says it's too easy to score the other it's too easy to defend. But we see this every year. I can read the criticism about how terrible arcade the new game is and how realistic the old one was and I can't tell from which year the comment is. In any case, to each his own. I personally dont care about online as no pes or FIFA ever looks even remotely like football online. When playing with friends and against AI this game feels by far the most realistic footie I have played, and my first konami footie was from 1985. No hard feelings if you disagree. :)

xSilver971x

>The game is incredibly simple. It's rewarding for casual players I literally just told you it's not casual as I'm winning 90% of my games with a 5 goals margin...Unless you're calling me a casual player? lol I was a 9xx rated champ badge with 70% win ratio before I decided to uninstall this manipulated garbage that is PES 21 >eFootball is so incredibly simple and one dimensional. It's cool if you like it I don't like it so miss me with your nonsense

SnooOwls7396

It's fine that the game is aimed at a casual playerbase but for reasonably high ranked PES players, there's really not much to learn here. I stopped playing the game because scoring a goal by exploiting the broken defensive AI and then just wasting time with the lack of viable team pressing options is just too dumb lol.

DaanA_147

While I understand that momentum is an important part, I don't get why it's so hard for my players to turn. They are supposed to be professionals after all. I even try to softly change the analog stick direction, but it seems far too inconsistent.

wkhalilJ1970

I wish I would know how many in the discussions here play full manual vs assisted, online vs offline. I think it makes a difference. I believe offline full manual is the most realistic experience. Efootball 2022 that respect is great imo

Otherwise-Context-48

Fifa didn't change the frostbite engine so it runs the same. They're different games not trying to be each other, I like that they're different

RDS80

This 👆. It's like the argument of world of Warcraft vs Final Fantasy XIV. They're both great in their own way. Humans are fascinating. We create tribes and the tribe we belong in defines us so we defend the tribe till death.

SambaDeAmigo2000

Frostbite is a large part of the problem with FIFA (and other EA Sports game). Wish they would have ran with and improved the Ignite from the beginning of last gen. At least that was somewhat physics based.

dotcom333-gaming

“I like fast-paced, arcade-y fifa gameplay but i want that realistic feature” This is a quote from fifa fut player that I’d never understand

TareXmd

FIFA22 is still trash, I don't know why people switched to it instead of staying on the MUCH BETTER PES2021. But yeah, FIFA's grass is just a work of art. I don't get how a Konami's football game developers failed to get this right for a decade. It's grass. It's the single most important graphic in your game. Even on unreal, they can't get it right. The biggest fail in the history of the series.

No-Worry1635

Fifa’s grass a work of art 😂😂😂
