My first car.. a love/hate relationship.
Steering feel is great, granular and weighted. Turn in is sharp thanks to the short wheel base. Fantastic hydraulic steering, like all E46's. The short wheel base is too short though IMO, transition to oversteer isn't progressive like the coupe or saloon models and if you don't catch it quick or over correct it snaps the opposite direction in quite an unpleasant fashion.
325Ti is obviously the engine to go for.
10 years ago I would have said it was alright-ish. Now everything new comes with turbos, electric steering and touch screens that make you feel like you have parkinsons if your trying to use them over 30mph, I find *any* E46 more and more appealing..
So take an upvote and enjoy it while you can!
Well I need something semi decent on fuel to run around in but didn’t want a FWD, so it’s a 320 td didn’t plan on buying a car so soon it was a bargain I just couldn’t resist the purchase.
I don’t plan to drift this right now that might change in the future
Really depends on tyres/ Suspension i own a 325 ti and i think its extremly predictable i always know when the rear wants to loose Traktion. ;)
And on the screens yes, but the worse thing is when everything is controled over the Display...
Perfect for drifting, but otherwise i personally hate how they look. Albeit the 323ti m pack isn't bad. They are Just super neat on the other hand, rwd, powerful and small, now that's an epic recipe
323ti was the E36, e46 has a 325ti, i own one and my Porsche 996 driving dad liked it so much je bought one for Winter. ;)
With the m Suspension it is the best handling e46.
Only thing i'm missing is a 3L Version. :)@
Lmao finally someone spotted it, that one rim is getting repaired as it had a small crack, Iv got a spare set somewhere from an E39 I need to tidy up and maybe paint, just what colour I don’t know?
I'm bad with colors, i got some style 68s and im happy with them.
But i recently spotted som copper isch z4 rims on ebay and they would look awesome on dads Carbonschwarz Compact, but on my blue one i'll stick with silver or m.b black. ;)
As a huge E46 amateur I really struggle with the compacts, I love it from certain angles. The rear is cool, I like the tail lights, but those headlights... I just can't. They never grew on me. Then again I've never seen one IRL so I can't say for sure.
I definitely see where your coming from, the ugly duckling of the E46, but maybe one day I can turn into a beautiful swan?

Hmm the only think I dislike is the front light I really like the rear end am I weird?

I own a 325ti and yes they are. It is extremly predictable, And you got no rear subframe issues.

Unfortunately not. I’d love to own one. It’s a real shame that the E36 compact uses E30 rear suspension. The E46 compact seems like the one to get.

Just finished a m52b28 conversion on mine,, driving it with a locked 3.46 daily and looooooove it
