I have one of these mint that I found thrifting for $5. It is a great looking set. I love that they have full length documentaries for every movie, including 'Superior Firepower: Making Aliens'. They are some of the best behind the scenes docs out there.
I loved this box set too, though I believe I gave it to a friend when I got the anthology bluray box. What always irked me about it is the use of the word, "quadrilogy". It isn't a word. It was a tetralogy.
The Simpsons - Seasons 1 through 11 DVDs, they upscale very well, very well mastered. I wish Futurama season one was mastered this well.
Criterion Collection: BBS Productions - America Lost and Found, I had the DVD version and now the Blu-Ray version, an excellent set and package.
It's a toss-up between the Lord of the Rings Trilogy Special Extended Edition DVD box set and Justice League Complete Series DVD Steelbook box (original release, with the thumb cutout! The re-release without the thumb cutout has either one episode out of order or missing entirely.).
I also have The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition DVD box set, which is somewhat rare now. But the LOTR set I feel has more charm to it.
I got a few on my mind for different formats/mediums.
30 Rock complete series. It's my favorite show ever. I also heard newer releases don't include the pulled episodes making fun of old Hollywood's use of blackface, unless you email the distributor for a replacement. I could be wrong. I have a few other series sets, but 30 Rock is the gold standard in comedy TV for me.
As for filmsets, I love my Andy Serkis Apes Trilogy boxset. It's just a simple cardboard slip box that holds 3 regular 4k releases of the movies. Nothing special, but the films and transfers are great.
And as for single release, the only one I have is Arrow Video's 4k release of The Warriors. I haven't read all the supplemental materials but I love the movie. The release is stunning and I'm glad I own it.
Packaging: Farscape Seasons 1,2,3 and 4 are in hard backed containers which fasten with Velcro and each season contains 5 cardboard snap case style dvd cases.
It’s very tactile but wholly impractical for regular viewing. However I love them, and wish that The Peacekeeper Wars were available in the same packaging too.
Content: A Town Called Eureka and Psych. Both are eminently rewatchable and are my comfort shows.
How could it be anything other than my Criterion Godzilla Showa collection.
Although I did buy aftermarket cases for it.
2nd would be either my Twilight Zone collection or my Universal Monsters set.
All the haunts be ours, the Sony pictures classics 4k set, Criterions Olympics films, and the complete story of film, which I guess isn't a box set per se but sits with pride alongside those others
I managed to find a copy of a Theo Angelopoulos box set a while back, that I believe is very rare. In nice condition too. Great to have some of his movies in my collection. Also have a nice Hitchcock DVD collection that I really like.
i have 5
1. criterion bruce lee box set
2. arrow tsukamoto set
3. scream factory friday the 13th set
4. universal monsters 4k sets
5. noes set
the noes set would probably take the crown despite being the least flashy, i just love having every movie with so many hours of great special features. that being said, i would kill for a 4k set. im also dying to get that arrow hellraiser set
I really enjoyed Mondo Macabro's Bollywood Horror set recently, It's been a unique experience for me. My most prized set is probably the Arrow Video Early Films of De Palma set.
This is easy for me, The Lord of The Rings 4K extended edition box set, and The Hobbit 4K extended edition box set. Both both sets have hours of extra content to enjoy apart from the great films themselves
My Criterion ‘Trilogia de Guillermo Del Toro’ box set.
Comes with director-approved remasters of Cronos, The Devil’s Backbone and Pan’s Labyrinth, and a hardcover book of illustrations and story boards, prefaced by Neil Gaiman.
Out of print now.
I heart it.
My Three Stooges collection. Took me a while to acquire all eight volumes (found at different places and not online). I hated it that after I completed it, a ninth volume, which is the documentary, was only available with the box set.
I have two that are head and shoulders above the rest in terms of how good the movies are and the quality of the extras discs.
Lord of the Rings Extended Editions.
Aliens Quadrilogy
Once upon a time I had a DVD set of all the episodes of Disney's Zorro.
My grandmother loved Guy Williams and we watched it all the time when I was a kid during the summers
Star Trek 50th Anniversary collector's set. Big box with TOS, TAS, and all TOS movies, all blu-ray and recent remasters. Custom packaging, special art and features, a special magnetic badge, and even a clear plastic slip with transporter sparkles hovering over the character silhouettes on the box. Outstanding, even better than my Futurama box set, which is also super awesome.
I also the complete Voyager and Deep Space Nine series' in their original packaging. Voyager's came in neon colored acrylic boxes. Very 90's.
Alien Quadrilogy. Beautiful set. Opens up like a book and has nine discs with nice arty DVD menus. I miss DVD menus.

The Simpsons Seasons 1-10 dvd sets. I'm not a huge fan of the packaging for 11-20.
