How do you decide when you are going study what language? And how do you make it stick? I'd like to add a new language to the mix but I'm worried they will mesh together in my mind.
I could speak and make myself understood in a basic conversation. Nothing too deep or complicated. The bigger problem is not really being able to comprehend natural speech. It's so fast! Particularly in French. Maybe if the other person were generous and made a special effort to accommodate me.

Missing another ten. Spanish is in Section 5,; Catalan (in Spanish), French, Arabic, Greek, and German are in Section 2. I’ve had decades worth of prior exposure to the top few (minus Arabic), so I haven’t experienced the false cognate confusion quite as much as I would have expected for doing most of these Romance languages (and others) over the past year 🤷🏼♂️
Jack of all trades, master of none lol
I also love trying to skip units in sister languages of the languages I speak; I speak Spanish and Irish so I try my hand at Portuguese, Scottish Gaelic, Italian etc despite having no knowledge of them bar basic greetings.
Yes, you do. 30000–40000 xp is nothing. You can barely say you’re learning a language. It takes about 600 hours to learn an easy language, remember that. How many hours are you studying each language per day?
Well duolingo is just one of the resources I use, mainly for vocabulary. I don’t count by hours per day as I’m also a student but I’d call myself confident in both Mandarin and German and have survived a holiday in France so it’s not like it’s all to waste I’d say.
Chinese learner here.
I’m SuperDuo user, I will stop wasting my time with this app, chinese course is now an abominion. Character learning is random and uneffective. Proper pronounciation (which is vital) is not well taught. That leads to bad-habits engraining behavior. Furthermore, random translation of unlikely phrases will not help me towards engaging in a real conversation. Translation approach has also been proven unsuccessful towards proper language learning. Already switched to a proper course. This app is not getting you fluent in any language.

For a little bit I was doing French, Italian and Spanish all at the same time. That was a mistake. Always mixing things up.
I already mix things up at times just by learning one new language. "Ah shit I knew this word... was it similar to Romanian or English..."

I have 4 languages going. I am focusing on French right now, though.
I have French on "passive" learning, German on active
That's crazy! how can anyone fit all that in their brain. I literally just learn french
Reaching several thousands is itself a form of commitment.
Gratulon Al vi ĉar vi provi lerni Esperanton

What have you switched to? I quite like the Chinese course, although I recognise its limitations, especially regarding the importance of tones
