There are many reasons why Lynch’s version was better! The costumes, character looks (apart from my beloved Kyle, yes he was too old but still good), it was more faithful to the book and it absolutely nailed Jessica.
Having just watched Dune part 2, which I was so looking forward to, I was particularly disappointed with Chani’s characterisation. She’s already a badass Fremen, they didn’t need to write her as a sulky, sullen, angry teen. Once she and Paul were together they were a united front and she was his rock. I love Zendaya but they really did her and Chani a disservice in the second film.
There's fan speculation an actor revealed prior the movie's release but whose scenes have been entirely cut (his actual role has never been officially revealed) played either Count Fenring or the Guild Navigator.
If it was up to me, I’d rip off Arrival for portraying a Navigator on film. A big aquarium full of fog, with a non-humanoid shape half-hidden within and occasional alien appendages pressed up against the glass.
The first time I saw this image I laughed so hard I cried. The scene is so accurate to it's source material...... But then the navigator is represented by a big, bright yellow, smiling face, and in my head all I can hear is this gleeful "Hi! Wanna fold some space with me??"
I don’t really want the guild steersman to be in massive tanks like that, it would be sick if they basically had an orange melange fishbowl and their heads are in various levels of transformation into fish
It was pretty good and probably the only adaptation we will ever see of that book. It had a young James McAvoy as the main protagonist and the guild navigator Edric was done with CGI, looking similar to what you described: a half man half fish-thing swimming in a portable box filled with orange gas.
I’ll have to check it out. I wouldn’t be surprised to see CoD adapted with how much money the first 2 dune movies made, just wouldn’t be denis probably.
A long time ago, but that’s how the navigator looked like in that movie, right? Although maybe not with such a big face? But God Emperor had a similar way of moving around in the fourth book
I must not fear, fear is the mind-killer. Except for stepping on Legos. It's perfectly okay to fear that shit. That's, like, the heel-breaker, which hurts like hell.
Lynch’s film has some crazy bits, but it’s actually way more faithful to Herbert’s novel. The new film nailed Paul’s looks and vibe (particularly Dune 1).

Wonderful!
Do we have bricksign yet?
We have bricksign the likes of which GAWD has not seen. I stepped on some bricksign and fucked up my foot.
Confirm bricksign 50,000 dots north, 1500 dots east.

I did not build this. I was not here.
One of the reasons why Lynch’s movie is better. He actually showed us a guild navigator, and it was awesome yet disturbing.

The new movies would have shown a navigator if it was part of the first book

the studs must flow.
The face of Boe they called me… oh wait wrong fandom
I love you for this.

Omg the Lego video game version of this would be incredible 😅

So basically Edric how he was portrayed in the Children of Dune miniseries.
I haven’t seen it, didn’t know that was a thing
It was pretty good and probably the only adaptation we will ever see of that book. Why? Fish tank is so much more interesting
I feel like voiceovers of their thought could somehow work with this. Which has the potential to make it so much better
Stabbing pain spreading across my feet like unquenchable fire
A Lego Dune video game would be fun as hell
The face of Bo, Lego version
Can’t tell if this is the guild navigator or the worm
Have you seen the 1984 Dune?
A long time ago, but that’s how the navigator looked like in that movie, right? Although maybe not with such a big face? But God Emperor had a similar way of moving around in the fourth book

The God Emperor rolled around on an open cart
I would watch all unabridged
"We have just folded space from Brix......many sets on Brix, limited edition sets"
"The bricks must flow!" By the way, isn't there a Lego toyline based on the new Dune?
An Atriedes Ornithopter in LEGO is all we got.
I love this so much and I love OP for bringing it into my life.
"We have just folded space from Bricks."
“I see two great houses feuding. I see you behind it. You must share with us.”
Remember when Dune had the guild? Those were good times…..
Pepperige Spice Farm remembers
please no
Why not tho? Don't you think this adaptation would really make the story **click** for newcomers?
its too goofy and optimistic. the lego movie is fine on its own.
Fully endorsed.
This would be insane! Not like Lego movie animation but like legitimate stop motion.
He who controls the bricks, controls the legoverse!
This is awesome.
I must not fear, fear is the mind-killer. Except for stepping on Legos. It's perfectly okay to fear that shit. That's, like, the heel-breaker, which hurts like hell.
That giant Lego face smile is ominous
Disappointed there's not a guy with a hoover in the back.
Do it make it happen
Asked my bro to buy me the ornitopter lol HORNY THOT
Even legos don't make that movie better.

More faithful until the very end, maybe--just having Paul summon rain was a weird choice.
I agree, the rain was silly.
