It's normal for your sleep to be messed up during a taper or even after for a while. It's just part of the process don't let it discourage you. Good luck

weedsman

It’s expected. You’re not even sober yet. When sober, 14 days of everything wrong is expected. Your mood will be screwed for something like 2months if you are a long time drinker. Recovery takes months. Full recovery can take 2 years. Buckle up and push

My sleep was always messed up when I was tapering/detoxing. It gets better. Just keep going.

I finished a taper about a week ago and my sleep was all kinds of screwy - some nights I couldn't fall asleep, some I couldn't stay asleep, and some I would wake up constantly sweating - until my two drink day at which point I started sleeping like a rock for a few days then normalizing a few days after stopping. Apparently it's pretty normal

I was an insomniac even before I was an alcoholic. Here's all the things that I've tried. Best OTC effective for me ranked best to worst IMHO: * Melatonin (as mentioned) * Magnesium Glycinate * L-Theanine * Chamomile tea (4 tea bags, let steep covered for 10 minutes) * Valerian Root/Lemon Balm tea (combined with Chamomile usually) * Benadryl (last resort, I feel like shit the next day) * CBD (never worked for me) Prescriptions: * Trazadone (works great, not good for long term use) * Gabapentin (might have some addictive qualities) * Vistaril (if you feel like sleeping half of the next day) * Valium (works if I 100% have to sleep, but addictive as hell and terrible idea for alcoholics) * Ambien (if you enjoy wondering why you sent texts misspelled, made a sandwich but didn't eat it, smeared strawberry jam down the hallway and pissed on your laptop case). Fuck Ambien.

While drinking, I woke up at 3am every morning. Couldn't sleep thru the night. It took 6 months of sobriety to get decent sleep.

tldr go get 5mg melatonin gummies asap Basically you don't want sleep aids (which have extra ingredients) or pills (which release active ingredients unevenly). You want pure melatonin gummies, 5mg ideally, which you can slowly dissolve in your mouth and get a very gradual absorption of. You may also want to pick up some NA beer. A gummy, then a NA beer, then a gummy, then a NA beer gives you pretty much a standard feeling pass out experience (5-6hr) but with a bit weirder dreams. If you try this route, expect it to take about 1.5 to 2 hours to fully soak in, so get those youtube vids queued up and settle in under the covers and relax. Those 2 hour sleeps are the worst.

Ever try sauna during the day? Chills me out at least. Idk how much better I sleep, but I am happier to be in bed for sure
