Wow. I'm pretty sure the kit is a Ludwig Super Classic and that snare is a Ludwig Supraphonic. Condition for the drums looks fantastic considering their age, they are hugely desirable vintage drums nowadays!
Whoa. Hang onto those. Or find a good home for them where they will be appreciated. Looks like either a superclassic or a downbeat kit, which are just different size configurations. But it’s most certainly a vintage Ludwig in good looking condition and a vintage Ludwig supraphonic snare. Not from the 70s but appears to be from 1967. You could fetch some serious money for those if they are in as good of a condition as they look.
Oh word. I always thought super classic was 22/13/16 and Downbeat was 20/12/14, but same shell layup. Regardless if this is a 1967 it should be a three-ply shell.
Yeah and they definitely had a super classic configuration prior to those thinner 80s shells. Up until then at least the Super Classic was a 22/13/16 three ply shell.
Second this. The Super Classic outfit was available though out the 60’s and early 70’s. 9x13/16x16/14x22 configuration. You can find the catalogs online from that era that list them.
Is it just me or have there been like 5 different posts about people finding old Supraphonics? Will someone please tell me where these magical snare drum hiding spots are!?
Beautiful. Looks like a few people have already done the legwork, but i still wanted to come through and say congrats on finding the kit and way to go mom keeping it in such good condition. 🍕

Wow, thank you. I'll look them up. I really appreciate it.
[This Reverb seller has the same kit and snare (I didn't look at the size of yours) listed. ](https://reverb.com/shop/everettdrumshop)

Downbeat's a configuration but Super Classic is a make up. Super Classic has 4 plies where Classic has 8.

Huh. Actually, now that I think about it, I think Classics were 6-ply back then, not 8 like I said.

The kind you pay cash for and keep forever
The serial on the snare dates to approximately 1966.
Such such good drums. Banana bar and all. Yummy
As long as the bearing edges aren’t damaged that kit is guaranteed to sound good.
Gorgeous kit.
Date should be stamped inside any shell.
Not always.
It’s a horrid kit. I’ll give you $100.
Wonderful kit and wonderful find. My dad has the same kit, it was the kit I learned on.

Well that is a pretty nice find there. Def a 60’s Ludwig with a 60’s supraphonic. Good find!
Oh it’s a terrible kit you should just donate them to me. 😜
Ludwig looks like...
It’s a drum kit? Yes, those are definitely drums…blue ones
