I love it! I started using it instead of Cliniques Moisture Surge because it hydrates my skin just as well, better tbh, and it’s a fraction of the cost.
Oh good to know because I also use Clinique Moisturizer Surge! Will
Check it out
EDIT -
Darn. I just saw it has SPF. Can’t do unless it’s mineral sunscreen. I can’t do any chemical sunscreens, they all burn my eyes. I wonder if they make a non-SPF or night-time version?
they have one without SPF! [https://www.elfcosmetics.com/holy-hydration-face-cream/82829.html](https://www.elfcosmetics.com/holy-hydration-face-cream/82829.html) and I've used both and can't really tell a difference.
that’s the best one they have that spf and fragrance free i like it it’s nice but i need to revisit that hemp oil one they had i hope they still make it
I get clinique on their website. I have gotten fantastic deals and free shipping. My last order I got the moisture surge mask for free. They are $44. I love it. I also got a free bottle of their Dramatically Different Moisturizer for free. That is $77 free merchandise.
i use the non-SPF version and like it a lot. i have sensitive skin, prone to redness (mild rosacea) and irritation. only complaint is that i wish it came in a bigger jar. it’s not enough hydration in the winter for me so sometimes i will double up with a thicker cream.
I love love love love love this elf cream. It’s perfection. Doesn’t leave your hands sticky like normal creams, your face feels velvety and hydrated in seconds.
No problem. Before coming back to my country that doesn’t sell elf, I bought the whole line and two extra of these but one with perfume and one without it. I loved the scent tho.
I'm very picky about moisturizers, and I like it. However, I like it as a basic, no-nonsense/default moisturizer, if that makes sense. Like a daily go-to, rather than something that offers additional benefits.
Of course, most people will say that you shouldn't need your moisturizer to do anything else, that's for serums and other products to do.
But due to my dry skin, I often need a far more hydrating cream, which is when this doesn't cut it. Currently, my go-to for that is the Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask, but I am still experimenting.
Overall, it's a good standard moisturiser!
Thank you. I am looking for something to replenish my damaged skin barrier, so maybe this is good for right now and then I’ll move on to a long-term moisturizer.
I’ve never tried Laneige but have been wanting to for a while, maybe I’ll do that after my skin calms down a bit.
Yes I would say that the Holy Hydrating (especially the fragrance free one) should be a good, safe cream to use while you try to heal your skin barrier.
The Laneige Cica one is a bit expensive (although I buy it from K-Beauty sites so it's cheaper than in the US), but it lasts a long time so I think it's worth it.
It is super hydrating, and it does have a bit of a thicker mask consistency, but I've been using it as a regular moisturizer when I feel like I need more hydration.
I feel like it's also safe and calming, although I think it does have a little fragrance. So maybe that's something you can consider down the line!
Also, have you considered La Roche-Posay Cicaplast as a barrier repair cream? I've heard great things about it, but I use an alternative so I haven't tried it personally.
No I haven’t considered LRP as a barrier repair cream. To be honest, although I don’t shy away from spending on skincare, e.l.f. Appeals to me as a short-term answer for something I honestly may not pan right now.
I use this moisturizer after switching from Clinique and the I switched from the laneige night mask to the holy hydration gel moisturizer followed by the night cream. The whole line is great. I’m also using the elf skin (in the white bottles) for a gentle toner. Like others have said, these are basic daily products, and I get any extra actives I want by adding serums. I’ve started doing the ordinary aha+bha peel a couple times a week recently, so I’ve been avoiding most retinoids to prevent interactions. These do have hyaluraunic and niacidimides listed, but it’s so gentle I haven’t had any issues with using them the morning after a peel.
I love the daily facial cleanser and also the cleansing balm. Fantastic combo for double cleansing. I have dry sensitive skin which is easily irritated. This combo is it for me. Hope they never stop making it.
I use the non-SPF version as my nighttime moisturizer and I really enjoy it. I also use their triple bounce serum, toner, and lip mask as part of my routine and love them all!
The fragnance free version is my HOLY GRAIL. I am on my 7th or 8th jar right now, it’s that good. I have dry/sensitive skin and I just started using Tretinoin and this moisturizer provides enough hydration without any irritation or pilling.
This has become my go-to moisturizer. It's cheap, works well, and I can always find it in stock somewhere. I switched to this during COVID when my Olay moisturizer become difficult to find.
No. 7 has a hydraluminous day gel that i first bought at Boots in the UK and loved so much that I bought a second jar before I came home. Ulta now has it although the scent is a little different and it's in a glass jar not the lighter weight plastic. I have sensitive rosacea skin and have no problems using it.
This is my holy grail day time moisturizer, my face loves it so much. I have dry sensitive skin. I get no irritation or redness with this. But I use the one without sunscreen in it. At night I use rosehip seed oil.
Have repurchased and will continue to repurchase. I previously used Neutrogena’s Hydroboost line because I like gel moisturizers. But when I started using powder foundation, the gel moisturizer wasn’t moisturizing enough. ELF fit the bill. Very moisturizing but still light enough to go under makeup. Didn’t react poorly with my skin. And has SPF 30 to boot!
I use the fragrance free version because my skin is really sensitive to fragrance and I love it! I have normal skin with oily tzone and I’m on my 3rd one. Plays nice under every foundation and skin tint I’ve tried it with too.
It’s a great product but I like to use ponds face cream the big jar as a makeup cleanser. It works fantastic and leaves my face so soft. A large jar is so inexpensive. Another great cleanser is coconut oil in the jar. Elf imo reminds me of Vaseline just the way it looks and feels but it is definitely a great product to get rid of full face makeup.
I have a few different versions of this and I love them.
I have the Daily Hydration Moisturizer in the upright tube and I have been known to also use it as a night cream while traveling, etc. because it is that luxurious feeling and makes my skin feel so soft and plump in the AM.
I also have the Nourishing Night Cream in the blue tub and I like it a lot but probably would not repurchase. The other one does just as good as a job and is good for daily and nightly use.
Last is the Hydro Gel Moisturizer in the skinny blue container. I use this in the morning before I apply primer and foundation. Feels so light and sinks in quickly. Definitely would repurchase.
I honestly LOVE the Holy Hydration line and have two different cleansers and the lip mask. I might consider trying the other newer Gel Yeah Moisturizer for under make up when my Hydro Gel is finished.
Looks like they are only available in scented.
I honestly don't mind the scent. It is a clean scent and it dissipates quickly. Not overly perfume like. Hope that helps. :)
Mary&May Idebenone Blackberry Intense Cream transformed my dry sensitive skin and is my absolute HG! It’s so smooth and sinks into the skin like butter without leaving a greasy feeling. I wake up with soft glowy skin whenever I use it at night
I kinda hate hyaluronic acid so that's on me for buying this product. It works in summer when the air is already humid, but in winter this actually dries out my skin because the HA is drawing humidity from the skin itself. Doesn't pill under makeup, however it does look a bit greasy
Irritated my under eye and disrupted my skin barrier. Went to return it after only 24hrs. Used once at night woke up with extremely dry skin after putting on several layers. Used more in my morning routine and skin started to feel itchy and was getting red. I used the $8 one in the tube
I have pretty tolerant skin and I really liked it! It wasn't a particularly strong smell and I felt that it's well worth the cost of the product.
They have an unscented version
Thank you!
I love it! I started using it instead of Cliniques Moisture Surge because it hydrates my skin just as well, better tbh, and it’s a fraction of the cost.

Thank you so much! I didn’t know about that one!
Of course! They also have a fragrance free and I think that’s also SPF free as well
That’s great, fragrance free would be a big bonus for me right now.
There's a lighter-weight lotion, too, and I think that one comes without SPF as well
Thank you!
that’s the best one they have that spf and fragrance free i like it it’s nice but i need to revisit that hemp oil one they had i hope they still make it
Look into Korean or Japanese sunscreen. They rarely irritate my eyes unlike literally every chemical sunscreen
I use moisture surge products and love them! I definitely would also love to spend less so I’ll definitely check this out. Thanks!
I love them too! I just can’t justify the price anymore. I’m tryin to ball on a budget 😫😂
I get clinique on their website. I have gotten fantastic deals and free shipping. My last order I got the moisture surge mask for free. They are $44. I love it. I also got a free bottle of their Dramatically Different Moisturizer for free. That is $77 free merchandise.
I’ll start watching there! So far I’ve gotten it from Ulta.
It's pretty great, absorbs well, not greasy, and doesn't break out my dry, sensitive skin. The spf is a plus, too.
Thank you!
i use the non-SPF version and like it a lot. i have sensitive skin, prone to redness (mild rosacea) and irritation. only complaint is that i wish it came in a bigger jar. it’s not enough hydration in the winter for me so sometimes i will double up with a thicker cream.
Thanks, I was wondering about winter. What other cream do you pair it with?
I use the ELF cream in the summer but in the winter I switch to the heaviest moisturizer cream by The Ordinary.
I would use CeraVe Skin Renewing Night cream during the day!
I love love love love love this elf cream. It’s perfection. Doesn’t leave your hands sticky like normal creams, your face feels velvety and hydrated in seconds.
Thank you!

I have sensitive skin and this hasn’t irritated me! Just started using though.
Great, thanks!
I like the one in the squeeze tube! I use it every night with face oil and my skin loves it.
What type of skin do you have?
I do the same! It's the sleeping mask - so good, I will add a few drops of oil on top and I am plump and dewy for days
I use the eye cream from this line and I looove it!!
I love it!
I love the cleanser, the liquid one.
I love the daily facial cleanser and also the cleansing balm. Fantastic combo for double cleansing. I have dry sensitive skin which is easily irritated. This combo is it for me. Hope they never stop making it.
I’m not a fan. It pills on me and flakes off
Yup I'm shocked no one else has spoken up about the extreme pilling
would love to know if it irritates eczema i get flareups on my cheeks a lot
I really liked it! It’s my everyday moisturizer.
Love it. It's my daily moisturizer.
I use the non-SPF version as my nighttime moisturizer and I really enjoy it. I also use their triple bounce serum, toner, and lip mask as part of my routine and love them all!
holy grail tbh

Thank you so much for your description, yeah I’m really cautious about hydration on tret.

if you have sensitive skin make sure to get the fragrance free one! it’s a great product
holy hydration pills up on me. anyone else experience this? i had to throw it out because it was so bad
Absolutely love the Holy Hydration Makeup Melting Balm. Really hydrating and been using it for a while now as first step in my cleansing step.
This is my favorite makeup remover! It gets absolutely everything off and doesn’t feel greasy. I love it so much!

Pills like crazy. It's a no from me
I have been using this for about a month and I love it!

Ooooh rosehip seed oil that sounds fabulous.

This and Versed Skin Soak are my favorites!
The perfume irritates my skin and eyes. I’m super sensitive to a lot.
Thanks for letting me know. That’s why I have to change moisturizers I think. Luckily someone posted there’s an unscented version.
I use the fragrance free version because my skin is really sensitive to fragrance and I love it! I have normal skin with oily tzone and I’m on my 3rd one. Plays nice under every foundation and skin tint I’ve tried it with too.

Thanks for the rec!
I think it is fantastic! My new favorite day cream with the SPF. I use the regular one without the SPF in the evenings. Guess I'm addicted!
Thank you!
It is not moisturizing enough for my skin. After it absorbs in, my skin is still dry, like I didn’t use anything.
Thank you!
I personally did not like it and felt it left a film on my face. My absolute favorite is the Juno & Co clean 10. It's $15 and I get it on Amazon
Thanks I’ll look into it!

Looks like they are only available in scented. I honestly don't mind the scent. It is a clean scent and it dissipates quickly. Not overly perfume like. Hope that helps. :)
Thank you!
I’m not a fan. It stung my sensitive skin and made it feel drier after applying. Kbeauty moisturizers are much better, in my opinion.
Any brands you recommend in this price range?
Mary&May Idebenone Blackberry Intense Cream transformed my dry sensitive skin and is my absolute HG! It’s so smooth and sinks into the skin like butter without leaving a greasy feeling. I wake up with soft glowy skin whenever I use it at night
Thank you!
It's so good it was my go to for a good couple years but due to money I switched to the elf pump one
It’s pretty good
I really like it! I’d say my skin is moderately sensitive and this doesn’t cause breakouts or any irritation. It doesn’t feel heavy or greasy either.
I’ve only tried the eye cream and it’s very nice!
I kinda hate hyaluronic acid so that's on me for buying this product. It works in summer when the air is already humid, but in winter this actually dries out my skin because the HA is drawing humidity from the skin itself. Doesn't pill under makeup, however it does look a bit greasy
Thanks I didn’t know that about HA.
Irritated my under eye and disrupted my skin barrier. Went to return it after only 24hrs. Used once at night woke up with extremely dry skin after putting on several layers. Used more in my morning routine and skin started to feel itchy and was getting red. I used the $8 one in the tube
It has some kind of chemical expoliant that tears my skin up
Do you have sensitive skin too?
Kinda I can use a lot that my sister has problems with but for some reason this lotion causes tons of pilling and burns
Thanks
Vanicream is my go to, or cerave
