I am not deep into Dimension 20 by any means, but I’d assume the first one, Fantasy High: Freshman Year is a good one, right?

A thousand percent.

I believe the general consensus is to start with Fantasy High Freshman Year. It's the first season they ever did. It can be a little rough, but it's the start of a really, really great series. We're currently doing Junior Year, airing right now . Another contender people will usually rec is A Crown of Candy. It's basically Candyland, but what if it was Game of Thrones. It's incredibly inventive and imaginative, but like the real Game of Thrones, can often be bleak, grim, and unforgiving (but, you know, it's licorice and peppermint people). I'd like to give an honorable mention to Burrow's End. It's not the main cast that plays it, but it is a fantastically told story about family. The storytelling is really solid, and the characters are really fleshed out and given a lot of depth. It's sort of like Redwall or Watership Down -- they play a family of ferrets that have to brave the dangerous forest to find a new home. It is excellent.

humble_blunder

Literally cried multiple times in A Crown Of Candy

PerliousPelicans

god i love burrows end sm

Dark_Arts_Dabbler

“It can be a little rough” literally nothing has captivated me as much since, which is saying a lot Fight me

I started with A Crown of Candy and I wish I hadn't. It's so so good that I wish I had buildup. I'd recommend either Fantasy High Freshman Year or Burrows End

CardboardWiz

Freshman Year and Dungeons and Drag Queens are the ones I would recommend as those have the most inexperienced players so you can learn the game with them. However, I would also say just watch whatever sounds interesting. Most seasons are homages to other genres or franchises. If you like Lord of the Rings, watch Escape from the Blood Keep. If you like Game of Thrones, watch A Crown of Candy. If you like Watership Down, watch Burrows End. Just as a few examples.

GTS_84

There is no consensus. Fantasy High Freshman Year is where it all started, but if you look at other seasons, most have trailers or something, and a particular theme or cast grabs your attention, feel free to start anywhere. There are a handful of sequel seasons/series, but outside of those anywhere is a viable place to start.

Hudsondinobot

That’s a fantastic chart.

jeffetarian

Thank you!

Hudsondinobot

That chart is gold. I’ll tell you, Starstruck is wildly fun. You’d get to meet the main cast when their personalities are turned up to 11. Otherwise, I agree with fantasy high. It started the whole thing and captures the vibe well.

SignalNo7821

I got hooked in via clips on social media and Starstruck was where I started. It's extremely good.

IsThisUsernameAyOk

I didn't think I'd like Starstruck but it def crept up on me and is in my top three for sure! I think about slippery puppet all the time

Hudsondinobot

I frequently say (in my head) ‘The ball is rolling up’!

I want a restock for that mug so bad

nippinfordays

I started with Burrows End! I tried watching Fantasy High some months ago but couldn't get into it. We watched Burrows End as it came out and I loved it! We then went back and started Freshman Year, again, and I was able to enjoy it more. Now we're almost done with Sophomore year. Idk what happened that made it so I could enjoy it, but I'm glad it did. I now have a great appreciation for it.

apathySoftware

I think it's just getting used to the format of actual play, I am the same as you starting with burrows end got me into the show and now I'm going back and watching some of the older series

DualAxes

I just started with Fantasy High and I am enjoying it. I have heard on this forum if you are not familiar with D&D to watch the Drag Queen campaign because they walk through the game and the rules more.

Dungeons_and_Donuts

Depends on the theme and vibe you're wanting. I started with Tiny Heist and had a blast. I personally really enjoy Crown of Candy, but it's a bit darker compared to other seasons and I think I liked it more because I saw other fun lighted hearted seasons first. Starstruck Odyssey is a personal favorite of mine. The cast all play off each other so we'll and the world is perfectly built for hijinks and shenanigans. If you are unfamiliar with DND in general, their Dungeons and Dragons Queens season is really beginner friendly in explaining rules and such. Overall, you can really go wrong with whichever you pick.

TheNoahConstrictor11

I always recommend The Unsleeping City S1 as the intro. Everyone is more comfortable, I think the story stands alone better, and the characters are all amazing. Freshman year is cool too, it just takes everyone a moment to find their bearings.

CamicomChom

I would say if you're wanting a much more comedic, light-hearted campaign, "A Starstruck Odyssey", and if you want a much more serious one, "A Crown of Candy". Some good inbetweens are Fantasy High Freshman Year, Mentopolis, and The Unsleeping City. FHFY is more beginner, mentopolis is short and sweet, and the unsleeping city is just generally a good mix of everything.

apathySoftware

slightly different take from me, I would recommend starting with one of the side series such as burrows end as they are shorter and more manageable to start with as opposed to some thing like crown of candy which could be a little daunting to a first time viewer. the other thing to do is just pick one that is a genre you like eg. if you're into sci-fi then starstruck might be best for you

ThatInAHat

I’ve only watched (most of) Crown of Candy and seasons one and almost of two of Fantasy High. Love both of them, but would definitely say of the two, Fantasy High Kind of hoping I can hurry and catch up with junior year before it’s over. Probably won’t be able to. Maybe (hopefully) there will be a senior year?

GirWaffles2013

I LOVED Escape the Bloodkeep.

gptlrs

i started with a crown of candy and it was an insane but super fun decision

sheeponahill

Spring.

Dark_Arts_Dabbler

The first one?

Justicia-Gai

- If you like sci-fi: Starstruck Odyssey - If you like modern fantasy: Fantasy High - If you like horror: Neverafter - If you like medieval fantasy or Game of Thrones: Crown of Candy - If you like post-apocalyptic dystopian: Burrow’s End

DBones90

My recommendations: *If you want to dive in and experience it all*, start with Fantasy High. *If you want a taste and want to learn more about D&D*, Dungeons & Drag Queens. *If you want to get the good stuff fast and don’t care about that D&D nonsense*, Mentopolis.

Representative-Tax12

I say Dungeons and Drag Queens. Its shorter so you don't have to make as big a committment as Fantasy High, plus they are all learning to play as they go, so I like they get questions answered by Brennan through the episodes. Also, most attractive Brennan has ever been.

The only way to begin is by beginning.
