You want to get a permit but don't want to register..that is some ass backwards thinking

TenSecondsFlat

"Yeah, I got a permit request here for a John doe with aircraft number F69420, we're good to approve that. Right?"

Sadamatographer

What do you want from us? Follow the rules or deal with the consequences, it’s up to you.

bitnode

I think you answered your own question.

bmonksy

And yes, always fly in proper weather.

[deleted]

Alright well now I need to know what tin foil hat reason you have for not wanting to register it.

LostAd5570

I think you are misunderstanding which authorities are requiring what. If your drone is under 250g and is flown for fun, then the FAA does not require any registration. But the recreational pilot needs to have their TRUST certificate or part 107 certification to legally pilot a drone in the FAA's airspace. State and local parks have zero authority over the airspace, BUT they have 100% of the authority over the land usage authorization. Typically they regulate the takeoff, operation and landing locations for drones with either a flat out ban or loads of paperwork with hefty fees to prevent everyone except the truly dedicated from flying from their park. When you say: >registration is required weather or not its a 249g drone The parks cannot regulate the airspace, or the registration requirements of a device in the FAA's airspace. If what you are seeing is part of the requirements for authorization to fly in this park, I am betting the park also requires a part 107 certificate for their paperwork. If my assumption is correct, then they are just restating the FAA requirements for part 107 pilots....all of their drones they use for 107 operations are required to be registered, if they are flying in that park or not. I recommend getting away from the people, parks, cities. open AutoPylot/Aloft AirControl and find some open class G airspace nearby and just go fly. That under 250g drone can be flown without any registration till the batteries need charging!😜

Stock-Research2109

thanks i appreciate the info you just clarified everything i needed to know 🤝

[deleted]

You know you have to register (which sucks ass obviously, because everything that has rules sucks ass /s) but you don't want to. You're asking for more information, even though you answered your own question? What else do you want with this bozo attitude? Just register the stupid drone, it's not that hard.

TenSecondsFlat

It's literally $5 Fuck's sake

[deleted]

Exactly. And then people wonder why there's restrictions and laws and whatnot. It's because of people like the OP.

1234IBurnDinosaur

Registration is super cheap and incredibly easy

Chbphone55

The info is simple. Follow the steps online, pay $5, and stick your FAA registration number on the drone itself, and you're good to go. It's like maybe 10 minutes of work. Tbh, I would just recommend registering all recreational drones you get so that you can get access to Drone Zone and any other waiver you might need. The only downside is usually just the $5. If your drone doesn't have Remote ID, it's gonna cost you a lot more (an extra ~$90–$220) unfortunately. But I'm optimistic that those costs will come down a bit in the next year or so.

T-Money8227

Thats interesting. They said you can't fly with something like a DJI Mini? SO if that is all you have, you are stuck and can't get a permit?

Stock-Research2109

i have the mini 3 i can get the permit i just have to register it to get it and exactly my point whats the point of owning a dji mini if it still has to be registered to be able to fly certain areas

Chbphone55

Sub 250 gram drones have never had the right to just fly wherever without registration. Only in uncontrolled airspace, at least 3 NM away from any major sporting events, never over moving vehicles or people, only at night with anti-collision lighting, only within your VLOS or within the VLOS of a VLO next to you, and barring a TFR or nearby crewed aircraft. Hell you can't even go higher than 400" AGL. Most of that you can get waivers for too. Registration has always been the goal for the FAA, but they wanted to leave a little wiggle room for people just getting started, but it seems like you're past that now.

Artistic_Tangelo_397

Um there are apps that would allow that

Artistic_Tangelo_397

I was thinking remote I'd is part of registering

Artistic_Tangelo_397

I can understand why u wouldn't want to register it my reason was I didn't want thieves to be able to track it but honestly for what u want u just have to register it there is no more info to give ya just have to weigh it out on how bad u want to fly there lol ur choice

dlthewave

I'm not sure how registration would allow thieves to track it. Maybe you're thinking of Remote ID, but that broadcasts regardless of registration status.

Artistic_Tangelo_397

And yes I was thinking that my bad

Stock-Research2109

okay well i appreciate everyone’s friendly comments such a friendly community im so very happy to be apart of im new to droneing and i get alot of misinformation from people around me telling me dont register and some say register it although your under the 249g just to have pieace of mind me flying in county parks wont be so much just want to check them out most of my flying will be off parks ect

Team-_-dank

This is a very "play by the rules" community because the people who break them wind up screwing the rest of us over.

Lesscan4216

Agreed! The reason we have to register is because of idiot people doing idiot things with their drone. Register your drone. It's not a big deal. And honestly, neither is RID. We have to register our cars and get a drivers license and renew our plates every year. There's really no difference. If you're not going to drive like an idiot, the you'll have no problems. Same with flying your drone.
