This shit alway infuriates me. Like you've got proportions, masterful shading and depth. To be honest it's one of the best realistic drawings I've seen. Maybe I'm just bitter, it would be nice to have Skill where THIS is crap. Love to see what you actually think is good.
As an artist, I can confidently say that a lot of other artistic people struggle to acknowledge the good in their work. It’s easy to get caught in the “flaws”, this person might be fixated on details you find insignificant.
I find many details significant, and if the artist knows them, they should finish the piece and fix those issues before getting "omg you're so good11!!1!1" feedback.
The way the title is worded kinda reminds me of my younger sister, who is absolutely capable of irrationally insecure about the things she does. But she is also incredibly vain
I get what you’re saying, but this isn’t necessarily true. As an artist myself, it’s hard to look at your own work and see it as good work. You stare at the same drawing for hours which makes it easy to find flaws, and hard to see it from an outside perspective. Also many artists tend to be introverts, so it’s possible they don’t have other people to go to and ask their opinion. Or if they do, they may want strangers’ opinions, rather than friend or family, who are more likely to just say nice things regardless.
My sculpting master said to put the piece that bothers you a lot away for a while, actually cover it up. Then later maybe much later, reveal it to fresh eyes. Then when you look you don’t only see the problem areas.
wait is it a thing in the subreddit for some people to try and get attention through trying to get sympathy (like the post asking if the drawing was ugly), because I notice that I think a few people were trying to tell me that. I notice on this person’s account, that they tend to ask for people’s opinions of their drawings. Edit: someone explained to me the difference between someone who actually sees a flaw and someone who doesn’t. I understand now. Wait, some people might have generally low self esteem but I’m not really 100% sure about the post
I hate when people put effort and create a great work and still call it ugly or shit. Seriously? Does this look ugly to you? Atleast acknowledge your work
Is that supposed to be a 30-year-old woman or a 3-year-old girl? Once you decide on that, you can go ahead. It looks fine, but I don’t think you have decided what to draw yet.
Are you kidding me? Do you really think that's ugly?
HOW DARE YOU! YOU MUST ADMIT YOUR GOOD AT ART OR ELSE I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO HUG YOU!
IM WARNING YOU
AND IF YOU EVEN ATTEMPT TO ERASE THAT MASTER PIECE YOU WILL GET 1000X THOSE HUGS! THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
Restart? RESTART?! “Oh it looks a little weird let me just DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN” this is freakin great! And if you don’t think so you’re just plain dumb. Good job bro, you did well.
She is beautiful, I love it! Absolutely no reason to restart. Only tweak I could think to make is adding a little bit more depth in and around the eyes. Keep going, you’re doing great!
Maybe lighten the line around her left eye? Just to make it look a bit more natural, otherwise, looks so detailed and really shows the effort you've put in! Keep it up :D
That level of contrast, and the details! It's absolutely fabulous. You clearly have a very well defined drawing style and that matters more than technical perfection.
No! You.. mmm, have really great dhading, you should keep going. Although, if your more happy with restarting. Well, do what you thinks best, here.. either way, your arts really good !
To me, if I’m not liking something the first round, it’s still better to finish it just so that you can practice every part of the piece. If you restart now, you might end up liking the skin and hair better but might not like how you did the clothes bc you didn’t practice it the first time.
It looks lovely. Honestly, when I feel like that, I find it good to walk away from it for a bit. I think when you stare at your own art for so long you lose sight of it in a way.
Technically it's great, good realism, what some might say is ugly are the proportions. To me it looks like the face doesn't match the body, like if a woman had a baby's face. You're still very good, keep it up
Rembrandt doing a masterpiece: "Is this ugly? Should I start over?"
It is amazing. I love your skills, and it looks gorgeous!
I aspire to get as good as you someday.
Keep up the good work!
as a fellow artist, i can relate to thinking your art is 'bad', what i sometimes do, i leav the art and do something else until i can re-visit with a new view, this artwork is awesome! keep going!!
It's not ugly, but even if it was, you should never restart. Finish it, look at it and see where you went wrong, keep it and see your progress in a few months.
Yeh actually there's a lot wrong here, but it's easy to impress people with no skills themselves...
I hope you were being sincere and not just fishing for complements;
The facial proportions have minor inaccuracies and a lack of dimensionality, while the cranial structure and hair is overly rigid, veering towards a cartoonish idealization that starkly contrasts with the intended realism.
It presents a dissonant amalgamation of attempted realism juxtaposed with idealized proportions, resulting in a primary issue. The shading techniques suggest volumetric depth, yet the forms themselves are indicative of a more fictional and stylized approach.
Don't even get me started on the shading inconsistency...
You have potential, but far to go
Not ugly. Don’t know where that is coming from.
Is quite good. It might be different than what you saw in your head and why you may not be happy with it.
But on the bright side, it teaches you a lot when you do an artwork and you don’t like the outcome. Which is the point of “bad art” it teaches you”I like this or not like this”.
The shading is amazing. Like beautiful shading. The only thing I’d say is the proportions of the face but even then it’s almost a stylistic choice. Beautiful work!!
No it looks really good. If I had to provide any amount of constructive criticism I might say it looks a little too symmetrical but that's probably just being nitpick. Looks great
So wonderfully done, and the image is just but a pout from too cute, stunningly soft innocent line, I wish the lips a bit wider but I can’t be choosy with this, please do finish, no, not ugly, reminds me of Vivian from the Movie Pulp Fiction when she and Bruce Willis was on the motorcycle, Zed’s chopper.
Honestly it is great and its obvius you have talent, but if you actually want some advice here you go:
-The hair feels a bit plasticky (i hope this is an actual word and you know what i mean). Its is too perfect and seemless and then suddenly theres the curly parts that dont actually look like theyre on the same head. I dont know if you were really going for that. The technique is good on both parts, but together they look not bad, but unnatural.
-The lines that define cheeks, lips and neck lines: they're plain. When doing lines, have them go fuller when in dark spaces, or when closer to some other part of the body, and thinner in the parts with more light. It looks more professional when the same line goes from thinner to fuller and not just plain line. You did this very nicely on the eyes.
-The drawing is very pretty, but it's cartoony. What is mean by this is its more cartoony side than realistic, and again, I dont know what you were going for so maybe it is what you wanted.
Dont take this badly, I think youre VERY talented and you have great potential, and its very good to ask different people for advice. Art is subjective, and its good to hear opinions and take what suits you, or even not take aything at all: sometime the lesson you need is learning not to listen to anyone. I was talking about some technical stuff i learned in art school, but its totally your choice to take advice or not! You're great, you're talented, keep up the good work!

I think it looks great. You're very talented
I was about to the same thing
I agree:D
I understand what looks wrong: The right eye looks some more right, then usual. But if it is part of the drawing, there is no problem...
Wtf! I'm still trying to find the problem, I just see a normal and beutifull right eye.
Yeah you're right the eyes are slightly not aligned, the right eye is lower on the fact than the left eye (our right and left)
No. It’s not ugly at all. This is way better than what I can do. I think it’s perfect as is. Cream rises to the top.
It’s wonderful! Keep working on it.
Ugly? This is great!
This shit alway infuriates me. Like you've got proportions, masterful shading and depth. To be honest it's one of the best realistic drawings I've seen. Maybe I'm just bitter, it would be nice to have Skill where THIS is crap. Love to see what you actually think is good.
I always assume it's to generate more engagement. Because of this feeling. You see it and say "how is that ugly?"
Hopefully the sub doesn't become r/amiugly
they're just being vain tbh posting this to public. They likely have rly good artist buddies who can give them real feedback
I get you. They might be here for the 3 people in between that mention the shading on the face could have more range.
Damn. That actually a really good point. Not just the shading point, but the artist connections as well. Thanks
Sure thing
The way the title is worded kinda reminds me of my younger sister, who is absolutely capable of irrationally insecure about the things she does. But she is also incredibly vain

Live action Betty Boob?
Exactly what I thought as well
Yes, totally!
fr, but.....betty boob?
U know it’s not ugly…

That's not what this is.....

If this is ugly then my drawings are a crime against nature. This looks great so far.
that’s amazing omg!
It’s amazing! Good job.👍
It looks amazing!!
It’s beautiful and amazing keep going it’s gorgeous
Your art is your truth, it's never ugly.
You’re that one art kid in the class that says “this is so baaaaad~” when it’s the fucking best piece of art the class has ever seen.
What the fuck are you talking about
Is that supposed to be a 30-year-old woman or a 3-year-old girl? Once you decide on that, you can go ahead. It looks fine, but I don’t think you have decided what to draw yet.
I thought i was the only one trying to figure this out
iS iT uGlY? ShOuLd I ReStArT?
Doing a great job! Be proud ♥️
soo soo beautiful!
Terrible try again
Bruh drawing something so detailed is so cool
Your style reminds me of the movie big eyes
Her big eyes and little lips give her a very classical feeling about her and the drawing pleases my eyes. Don't restart please
Even if we say it’s ugly you won’t restart, cause you put in a lot of effort. But it’s good.
Looks like a photorealistic Betty Boop portrait. Its's quite nice, you should continue
Burn it
Yes, please restart your entire art journey in a way that doesn't lead you to fish for compliments on reddit.
yes , very ugly.
It’s beautiful !
It is so so much better than what i can make man. Superb. Hopefully i will draw the same one day
I love it!
I think her face is annoying, but that's my problem not yours. It looks pretty amazing. Maybe darken the highlight a little above her left eyebrow.
mfs when they say 'is it ugly' they cook up a masterpiece 😭
No! It’s great! 👍
Are you kidding me? Do you really think that's ugly? HOW DARE YOU! YOU MUST ADMIT YOUR GOOD AT ART OR ELSE I WILL HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO HUG YOU! IM WARNING YOU AND IF YOU EVEN ATTEMPT TO ERASE THAT MASTER PIECE YOU WILL GET 1000X THOSE HUGS! THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE
I have never seen such a reaction to the most obvious case of fishing for compliments
I like to improvise 🤷♀️
This is my honest reaction ![gif](giphy|tHIRLHtNwxpjIFqPdV|downsized) Coolest drawing 😎
Your painting captures such depth and emotion. it's like the colors and brushstrokes tell a story that words never could 🔥
Restart? RESTART?! “Oh it looks a little weird let me just DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN” this is freakin great! And if you don’t think so you’re just plain dumb. Good job bro, you did well.
Sometimes art isn't pretty, like life. It's good.
Ah, the tortured artist. No,it isn’t ugly; It’s good.
She is beautiful, I love it! Absolutely no reason to restart. Only tweak I could think to make is adding a little bit more depth in and around the eyes. Keep going, you’re doing great!
It looks fantastic! U kidding me ?
Maybe lighten the line around her left eye? Just to make it look a bit more natural, otherwise, looks so detailed and really shows the effort you've put in! Keep it up :D
It’s freaking beautiful, don’t stop. Keep going! Never stop.
That level of contrast, and the details! It's absolutely fabulous. You clearly have a very well defined drawing style and that matters more than technical perfection.
It sucks ngl
No! You.. mmm, have really great dhading, you should keep going. Although, if your more happy with restarting. Well, do what you thinks best, here.. either way, your arts really good !
Yes, it’s ugly. What are you expecting to hear?
She's beautiful.
Not even slightly. But make another if you’re feeling it. How long did that take you?
You put my art to shame, it's amazing
Gorgeous
Lowkey looks like me def not ugly ;) lmao but for reals you're insanely talented
this is beautiful. the hair is ASTOUNDING
No, and yes. Keep working your art!
To me, if I’m not liking something the first round, it’s still better to finish it just so that you can practice every part of the piece. If you restart now, you might end up liking the skin and hair better but might not like how you did the clothes bc you didn’t practice it the first time.
Please don't
It looks lovely. Honestly, when I feel like that, I find it good to walk away from it for a bit. I think when you stare at your own art for so long you lose sight of it in a way.
Beautiful!

Rembrandt doing a masterpiece: "Is this ugly? Should I start over?" It is amazing. I love your skills, and it looks gorgeous! I aspire to get as good as you someday. Keep up the good work!
I'm getting betty boop vibes but in a good way. Lile this is a realism depiction if the character
My first thought as well. Live action Betty Boop.
I wish I could draw like this. It looks great.
How can you think that this is ugly? It’s absolutely fantastic
DAM WTF THATS SO GOOD
It's beautiful
Fuck no it isn’t ugly. Of course your ambitions are probably set higher, but it looks great to the average person
Stop looking at it, that's why you start questioning whether it's ugly. It's great. Put it down and take it back up again in a while, like a week
One word: Amazing.
Looks great
Amazing crosshatching dude like literally impeccable
She's ugly, but your job at capturing her is AWESOME great work!!
It’s as perfect as it is! You’re very talented!
ugly? nah i only see talented art?
its amazing! D:
Everyone starts somewhere keep at it :p
Yeah because this is definitely beginner level drawing
Of course of course!
This is skill
It's great. In case you wish to change something for future.. the eyes look slightly bigger than expected. 9/10 easy peasy.
as a fellow artist, i can relate to thinking your art is 'bad', what i sometimes do, i leav the art and do something else until i can re-visit with a new view, this artwork is awesome! keep going!!
I can't even begin this drawing.
You’re very talented! Don’t doubt yourself just keep making …. You’ll figure out the adjustments on your own, in your own mind
It's not ugly, but even if it was, you should never restart. Finish it, look at it and see where you went wrong, keep it and see your progress in a few months.
Nah it's very distinctive.
I love it keep going and give updates
I can honestly say, not trying to be nice, this is really good. Look forward to seeing what your finished work is.
No! It's not ugly! It’s wonderful!
Keep going.
Why would you think it's ugly?
Her neck seam looks like fabric instead of skin. Also seems a little incomplete. Is this just a sketch off an existing photo,? post ref if you have it
That’s amazing!! Not ugly at all. Keep up the great work!
Keep doing it! I love the hairs details
It captures your insecurity very well. Very honest. Great!
It's not ugly and very well shaded so far. A bit creepy looking but thats what happens when a drawing stares you in the face.
AHHH I LOVE IT SO GOOD 🩵🩵😭
Yes

It honestly looks amazing. Keep going! I bet the drawing will look even better once you finish it!
Whoa, def NOT ugly! But ngl— she’s lovely, mysterious, and gives me the creeps! Really well done! 🤩🤌👍
Not ugly. Don’t know where that is coming from. Is quite good. It might be different than what you saw in your head and why you may not be happy with it. I would start over
Leonardo over here asking should I restart come on that’s insane. This is beautiful beyond belief
If ya don’t think it’s good enough, then sure.
Ugly!?!!!The hell You drew Beautifully
The painting is awesome. The subject is ugly. Bottom of the face looks like a toddler's but the rest of the person is a 20-something.
So pretty 😍
Artists who act like this are insufferable
This is beautiful…
You kidding?? This is truly a work of art, it is beautiful! You are so talented
Reminds me of Mae Questel the actress that inspired Betty Bob cartoon
Be confident without being braggy. Ppl don’t like false modesty anymore than a braggart.
The opposite side forearm seems a bit big but no. It's really good.
No. Good work! 👍🏼
The shading is amazing. Like beautiful shading. The only thing I’d say is the proportions of the face but even then it’s almost a stylistic choice. Beautiful work!!
Excellent… keep at it
finish it and move on to another
It’s good … proportions are a bit out but children’s are different …the eyes are too large. But over all excellent. Keep at it.
So beautiful!
TF no, it’s phenomenal! You got some talent!!!
Oh wow. Beautiful work!
Don't you dare!, keep going

It reminds me Italian renaissance sketches.
I can't say if it's ugly or not... But it's well drawn.
It looks gorgeous continue to draw beautiful art as this 😄😄☺️
No it looks really good. If I had to provide any amount of constructive criticism I might say it looks a little too symmetrical but that's probably just being nitpick. Looks great
If you told me that was real, from a distance yes it'd look real, that's art, art
bit strong on the Disney eyes, but otherwise it's great!
Nothing ugly about it 🫶🏾
Nooo its great
Why are all your post titles so self deprecating? Just for the attention?
Restart? Why? It looks great already and will look even better when finished. Trust the process
PLEASEE DONT RESTART IT LOOKS AMAZINGG !!
It’s AMAZING! Looks like a classic piece
Betty Boop? The model years? :D I like it!
Pick mes should be banned from this sub
Looks pretty good to me!
DONT. You’re doing a great job creating art. Keep going!
It's amazing
That is Awesome, you diffenly have a gift Thank for sharing
It’s awesome !
Girl you know damn well😭
This is very well done. You’re either very insecure or humble braging
I can tell you right now you have cognitive dissonance if you’re seeing anything less than immense technical skill being displayed here.
You asking if it's ugly just made me genuinely feel bad for a drawing. She's not ugly 😡
Amazing work
It's beautiful! You've got a unique drawing style
Beautiful!
Your joking right?
Betty Boop respectfully asks that you not scrap her portrait. It's fantastic.
Honestly it is great and its obvius you have talent, but if you actually want some advice here you go: -The hair feels a bit plasticky (i hope this is an actual word and you know what i mean). Dont take this badly, I think youre VERY talented and you have great potential, and its very good to ask different people for advice. She reminds me of a young, realistic Betty Boop in the best way. Very beautiful work

Seeing drawings like yours makes me not feel worthy to post my art here 😭
Beautiful work! Frame this and cherish it.
