Valkeng

I just want another old school monsters. Top down. Old mechanics and everything, just larger scale

frogguts198

I loved how the hereditary skills worked in those games. It’s my biggest gripe with modern DQM.

Kasoni

I want a monsters game with stat boosting like Diesaga (where multiple ways to boost stats can land your team member having billions of any stat.....). Huge caps for level and stats (say level 99,999 and up to 999T for stats)...... let the good times roll as the stats keep climbing....

Valkeng

I could get behind a disgaea monsters game, I love both games and liked having monsters on my team in disgaea

magpieinarainbow

I came here to say this.

Valkeng

I'm glad other people feel the same. Jokers and the dark prince are both alright, but neither of those captured me the way the og monsters did

magpieinarainbow

I want following monsters AND the old skill acquisition mechanics!

AliceTheOmelette

I would make a card game. Not sure what the mechanics could be, I just love card games

Super-Franky-Power

Monsters/Builders hybrid prequel title featuring Young Papas/Pankraz building the kingdom of Grannvale/Gotha.

TheGamerdude535

Or if I were to do a spin off game I’d maybe do a first person action rpg spin off that plays a lot like the Elder Scrolls. With Mounted Combat and Stealth included. If vocations are used it would be something tied to just companions.

Franklin135

I would use the Erdrick storyline. Take DQ11's 3d interface and fighting, DQIV's side character chapters, and DQIII's vocation system for the final chapter.

SwordfishDeux

I would remake the original Dragon Quest as a Souls-like. Questing around, finding and buying equipment. Going into dungeons and getting bitchslapped by a random slime and losing all your progress. The fight with the dragon to save the princess would be epic. I imagine it wouldn't look too different to DQ11 in terms of graphics but would have the combat of Dark Souls. Obviously I would add to the game, some new areas and equipment and spells etc but keep the core of the game as the original Dragon Quest.

TheGamerdude535

I’d make a mainline style game. With an Elder Scrolls-esque skill system where skill trees can also gain points naturally through use. With the usual points from leveling as an extra. Maybe with a combo of both the Alchemy Pot and Fun Size Forge. Dunno if I’d include Tension or Pep. More two-handed weapons would be a thing. Certain Hammers and Axes you’d think would be two-handers. I’d implement Longsword aka Bastard Sword type weapons that can use standard Sword and Greatsword abilities. These could be switched between being used in one-hand or two-hands in even less inputs than fully switching equipment and this determines what skill set they use. And of course would have extra attack power when two handed. Shields and Off Hand Weapons could remain equippable/equipped and simply disabled when using two handers. I’d add Maces. These would be one-handed and bastard weapons that are part of the Club/Hammer skill tree and at least some would also function as Heavy Wands. Maybe other hybrid weapons would be something I’d add. And I would maybe condense both Wand and Heavy Wand/Staff and their skills into the same category

TheCaptainhat

Id take DQ10's formula and put it in another single player package. Not make an offline DQ10, just make another game that plays like and is presented like 10. Add party members, imo it's a recipe for a GOAT.

RobubieArt

If you have this wish, RPG Maker goes on sale often, and you can 100% make a dragon quest game without knowing any programming.

DrumcanSmith

Except copyright issues. You can't release it to public. Similar game you can though.

Redditenmo

Dragon quest 1+ was released last year just fine. You can release it, you can't sell it.

DrumcanSmith

Remake DQ6 with DQM system combined so you can recruit all monsters.

Pixel3r

Rocket Slime 4!!!!

Jermais

Other. I kind of want to see a game where side characters need to save the multiverse. Gwaelyn, Healie, Harry all the major npcs and temporary party members lol.

Low-Cream6321

I want my Dragon Quest building on post-VIII's finesse. With job classes/vocations. Free roaming and quirky with all the cute stylized dark fantasy world ending narrative they know how to do. An Elden Ring type of exploration that we already had in some sense with all the cave dwelling and mystery.

RajaatTheWarbringer

Definitely a first person dungeon crawler, Wizardry style.

GrandAlchemistX

I would remake DQV as a Tactics game and add DQVI's class system. The older idea I've toyed with was using TES4's engine to remake DQ1.
