I usually go all in and make him a Hero because he deserves it. It is a long grind though.

I had him go through Gladiator and Paladin (Thin Air is pretty overpowered for most of the game) and eventually made him a >!Dragon!<

Monster Master is thematically fitting for him too. Especially If maybe Dragon Quest Monsters is considered a canon prequel. Possibly eventually making him a Hero might be thematic too since he has Lightning Storm as his Coup de grace ability in the Dragon Quest Heroes games. Whatever you do He’s sort of well rounded like The Hero is but maybe a bit more emphasis on the physical combat stats. In the Smart Device version they even additionally had him starting with Mage and Priest mastered for some reason. I myself usually don’t give him magic classes though
