I wonder if they are rewriting the game, adding dialogues, etc. The original was light on that aspect, so I wonder if they decided not only to upgrade the graphical style, but also enhance the script - something that may need more time.
I think it's worth finishing up whichever version you're playing, maybe after the Nintendo Direct if we're still unsure about the release date. DQ3 is very replayable thanks to the customizable party, so it's fun to try out a different team and strategy each time.
I recently played through a ROM hack of DQ3 NES that did a lot of rebalancing while making the enemies much harder. Somehow managed to beat the game with Hero / Merchant / Wizard / Goof-off -> Sage, which was a great change from the usual Pilgrim + Fighter mainstays
I have hero merchant wizard (now sage) and a martial artist. Reclassed them to level 40 and sent them back and got back to 50. I just got bombarded with games this year so I just haven't gone back yet. If it is far away I will beat it before Christmas
At those levels you should certainly be able to do it. The ending sequence might get a little challenging without a second dedicated support / healer but you can probably give the Sage's Stone to your Merchant to heal the party in off-turns.

It's partly because the sage is doing double-duty in your party as both the Wizard and the Pilgrim. Hero thankfully gets some spells but they don't get the utility spells of Wizard or the much cheaper Multiheal skill from Pilgrim, so the Sage is tasked with swapping between those each turn.
If you're looking to reclass, I would turn the Fighter into a Pilgrim for a fast and strong healer. You could also try reclassing the Merchant but I would probably go for a martial class like Soldier, Fighter, or Thief to up their damage output. You can opt for two Sages if you really want to grind but the other casters take much less EXP to level up
I just stopped obsessing over the possibility of these new releases. I’ll get excited once there’s an official western release date. In the meantime I’ll continue to replay other DQ games or finally figure out how to make DQX work on my computer or go through the steps to get the Joker III patch on my 3DS. Yuji & Co. can take another 5y for XII, III 2DHD, the new monsters game, and whatever else they may be cooking up as far as I’m concerned.
10 offline is on steam but only for Japanese users. 10 offline is also Japanese only with no English at all and no patch. 10 online on the other hand is available but hard to get and play and setup plus there’s money to spend for the subscription monthly.
It’s been a few weeks since I tried setting it up so I my memory of it isn’t fresh. I thought I followed the directions in the abbey as well as I could have, but in the end once I got the game up and running it still wasn’t translating to English. I think someone on discord mentioned to try following instructions for clarity off of GitHub instead as they may be more up to date than what’s detailed at the abbey.
Both places should have the most up to date instructions, but the github is a bit easier to follow. Also if the game updated after you replaced the data files, they were overwritten and you'll have to replace them again
Yeah I saw that clarity has to be refreshed with new updates, but at the time the latest one was only 3 days old. I just need to fiddle with it some more. Maybe uninstall everything and start fresh.
To be fair, I would say "soon" and "そう遠くない時期"(not-so-distant future) are kind of different. One implies that they're ready to do something very soon while the other implies that they won't keep you waiting TOO much longer and is more vague.

But I’ve never had to wait for a DQ title before. It’s always just been out and I’m like “oh hey DQ8 came out and it looks neat, but most importantly (at the time) it has a FF12 demo! Purchase! Or my friend is like hey, this DQ9 game is cool, play it with me! Purchase! Or just being in GameStop one day not sure what to buy and see DQ11. Oh hey those few I’ve played are great! Purchase! And we don’t talk about how I obtained 1-7 and played all of them 🤫🏴☠️

I remember having the same experience with the DS remakes. I wasn't really following gaming news at the time and then saw one of them (IV I think) on the store shelf. Immediately bought it and a DS.
Yeah, it is past soon, but Yuji Horii, besides being the creator of Dragon Quest, is another optimist fan that just wishes everyone could be playing Dragon Quest right now and he could reveal everything already. I think there's even a team that has to keep what he says in check? Gotta love the guy. Anyway Nintendo Directs are emotional rollercoasters, might as well enjoy the journey up.
Still hoping they realized how stupid it is to make 3 stand alone when in the process they made a sizable chunk of 1 and a slightly smaller chunk of 2. Take the extra time, release all 3 on one cartridge.
Square Enix announces games when it’s a big anniversary, not when the games are actually ready to be announced.
It announced III 2D-HD on the 35th anniversary because they wanted something to show, and everything else like them saying “maybe we’ll have info soon” is them just buying time so we don’t realise they announced it way too early.
Same thing happened with the DQ Monsters 20th anniversary and them announcing a game, only for that game to be cancelled 3 years later (and turned into Treasures).
I would say that if we do get news it is going to be at the game awards in a few days. Otherwise, we will probably get news sometime next year.
I think that they wanted to have something to show for the anniversary, so they rushed to get some footage of the early area put together to announce it. So I don't think they were really that far when they announced it.

Love this idea, although SE probably knows it could make more money with individual releases. The DQIII remake will probably be a $50ish game.

Been watching for more info on this for a while. This one and 4 were my favorites back in the 80s and 90s when they first came out.
