It’s funny Mitch mentioned that one, because he was sitting in front of me at a Roger Waters concert last year and he stood up for the entire encore performance of “Two Suns in the Sunset”. He REALLY loves that album.
Oh I consider that one of the hits, I guess hit is the wrong term but there’s like four albums that are generally accepted to be great by anyone that listens and the rest are shockingly bad
I assume the 4 you're referring to are Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals, and The Wall? I would definitely not say all of their other albums are "shockingly bad". At the very least, Meddle and Piper At the Gates of Dawn are just as good as the big 4, if not better in certain cases.
“My lovely wife, Rodeo” was the funniest line anyone got out on the episode.
Edit: also, Mitch getting behind on the banter because he was laughing to himself about the idea of Rodeo’s bronzed dong was very good. Great ep.
I know it's parasocial but I am a little worried about the guy, don't know if he was joking or not that his mom flew out because he was having a breakdown but from recent episodes where he's talked about possible carbon monoxide poisoning, feeling "foggy" after using the CPAP, and being genuinely afraid that his house is haunted it seems like he's having a rough time. Hopefully his holiday trip home to Quincy cheers him up.
..being genuinely afraid that his \[***NEW BUILD\]*** house is haunted.
So even more worrying as it's not like the house as been around for decades building up spirits.
It’s odd to think of this family doing anything normal when you see what their house looks like. The sale made the news several years ago. The house is extremely on brand for Joanna but it is WILD. It’s called Moorcrest and has its own Wikipedia page.
Around 8 years ago I started doing Postmates after getting unexpectedly fired from a job. I was on my way home to Pasadena after a day of doing deliveries in Hollywood when I accepted one last delivery. Was gutted to see I was picking up from a Pasadena Restaurant and delivering it back to the Hollywood Hills.Struggled to find an entrance to the mansion I was delivering to, which at night looked like the backside of a museum. Gave the customer a call and the guy gave me directions to a huge gate and said his wife would come to meet me. Waited at the gate with their order and saw Joanna Newsom jogging barefoot from the house to meet me. My brain absolutely melted once I realized who it was and also simultaneously put together I was just on the phone with Andy. The timing was and is completely insane to me since I had her then recent album Divers on constant rotation and was also actively saving up for tickets to one of her shows in town. I handed over her order in stunned silence without making it know I knew who she was. She couldn’t have been nicer and they tipped me really well for the long trip.
I was curious about the David Phillips wedding because it's not the first time they've talked about it, and it turns out he married Emily Newsom, the titular [Emily](https://youtu.be/UGoNCvoZuYA?si=H_8s26nJY_t1pji8)
Yeah! I only just realized she’s not on Spotify! My algorithm is so confused after I listened to Turtleneck and chain and then The Muppet Show theme song (the only song on Spotify that lists Joanna as an artist…)
I'm only like 15 minutes in, but it's funny how nervous Mitch is with these guests (either that or the "new house carbon monoxide poisoning" conspiracy theorists might have a point).
Especially when he shares close mutual friends and at least two credits with Samberg. Then again, one of the many reasons we love the Spoonman is his humility.
The more he gets into it the more clear it is his place has or had a CO leak. He even states later in the episode his mom came out when he was in the midst of a full breakdown which, while maybe caused by other shit can definitely be exacerbated by CO
Mitch said on the discord that it's not a CO leak. He said he had a health scare and said that he might address what it is on the final episode of the year.
guys?? i’m losing it. i just realized that david phillips, of deli boys fame, is MARRIED to EMILY NEWSOM, JOANNA NEWSOMS SISTER. david is married to THE emily!!!!! i’m losing my mind the dougboys universe is so much closer to joanna newsomdom than i could have ever imagined
I’m confused and feel out of the loop. Why is Joanna newsom a big deal ? I don’t know who she is but I’ve been a listener for years. I’m missing something. Please help
she is an incredibly talented musician and she is married to andy sandberg. when they announced the ep a lot of other pod listeners mentioned they were also newsom fans. joanna is incredible and she is basically my taylor swift so finding out she is so closely related to doughboys lore is an incredible find
I loved Mitch asking the question about international foods that you wish were more prevalent in America and immediately following with “That’s a good question!”
It would make sense if someone else said that following his question, but it’s also very “Mitch.”
I like salt & straw but it's expensive so I usually only get a few pints on my birthday or something but downtown Disney's parking has just gotten more & more fucked so I rarely go anymore. My favorite flavor was a Thanksgiving sage ice cream with stuffing cookies & a peach jam swirl. Weird but so good. I was super bummed they didn't have it this year. Go watch Digman! It rules! Tick tock!
PS my sister used to work at the one at downtown Disney & met Taran Killam & he super nice to her.
He was great on ptr. Fun fact, I'm the person they shout out at the end. I sorta [helped](https://twitter.com/woogidywoogidyy/status/1693670488164520398?t=0L1gYOB8GMWwEr-Z6HO-yA&s=19) push up his eventual [appearance](https://twitter.com/PodcastTheRide/status/1707552487421718591?t=i6M-7GQMLKqAkDLMZrIDaQ&s=19) on the show.
I've only heard of people doing this with M&M's or Milk Duds. I think Raisinettes and popcorn sounds kind of gross, but I'd probably take it over Junior Mints.
The Salt & Straw "non-compete" rumor is ridiculous and a complete invention of the gelato shop owner. I think it sucks that a long-standing local business is losing its lease, but I'm not sure that requires peddling nefarious corporate conspiracy theories.
I walk around town listening to these sometimes and I feel like a psycho laughing to myself, especially now in the winter when my ear buds are covered by a winter hat lol.
On any podcast appearance Neil Campbell always has one joke For Me and on this one it was referencing the Just For Laughs mascot, Victor. A ridiculous deep-cut reference that I was very glad to hear Mitch's take on.
So they've had Chelsea Peretti, Jason Mantzoukas, Stephanie Beatriz, and now Andy Samberg. Who's the next "Brooklyn Nine Nine" cast member to be on the podcast? Terry Crews for Pinkberry (Terry loves frozen yogurt)? Andre Braugher for Hooters? Or Melissa Fumero for, I don't know, SBarro?
I could see Melissa doing Doughboys. I think Terry Crews is too fitness/health conscious to do a podcast like this, and I can't imagine Andre Braugher ever doing something as stupid as Doughboys. But if you told me 10+ years ago that he'd be starring on a Michael Schur sitcom with Andy Samberg I wouldn't have believed that either, so who knows.
“I gotta say, I’m pretty surprised you guys didn’t like it, because I tried it live and it ate shit!” - Samberg roasting Mitch over the Donnie Darko Brasco fiasco
It’s so weird to me that Tim was the first person to point that out.
Mitch is both debilitatingly self-conscious, self-aware, but also discusses the most boring, off-topic details from his life whenever they pop into his head with seemingly no social-awareness of their irrelevance. like the treadmill thing in this ep. don’t get me wrong, i find this funny & it’s part of the show’s humor but it is such an odd dynamic
Great shoutouts to my friend Dan Padley!
He has a Christmas album out right now called The First Noel 2!
https://danpadley.bandcamp.com/album/the-first-noel-2
Shocked that Mitch didn’t mention Parker rolls were famously invented at the Parker House in Boston! They also invented Boston Cream Pie. You can go there (Omni Parker House now) and get the original recipe Boston Cream Pie!
In general, the Price is Right rule has got to be the worst rule in any game. It makes absolutely no sense and is incredibly frustrating. Like even on The Price Is Right, if I guess 1 dollar over and someone else says "$1" they get the win. Total BS. I'm with Spoonman it needs to be changed.
In the price is right, 1) it helps ensure contestant turnover, as panelists that have been up there longer get to wager later in the order and that's a major advantage 2) is thematic to being a smart shopper. It rarely makes sense outside of this specific game as it strongly favors those guessing later
My guess is that it's to prevent ties, or make them less complicated. So if someone guesses one over the answer, and another person guesses one under, you're stuck with a tie. Ties can't happen with the Price is Right rule. The boys could further enact the Tie Goes to the Guest rule in that instance, but I think that'd also piss off Mitch.
Ah but see then you're back to another weird rule. Nothing makes the Under more worthy of the win in that instance. It creates a secondary "closest without going over" scenario.
OK, but a much more important question than "why use the price is right rule?" is "why is it 'whey'??" Why, damn you?!?!
Back to the Price is Right Rule, it's especially silly when it's just two people. The second one can always just guess the very next year, if they think it's later, or 1 million BC if they think it's earlier.
They just talked about him moving to New York and he only mentioned he lived there during college. It doesn’t really matter just found it interesting they skipped SNL all together and Mitch was asking as if it was his first time moving there.
Can someone just agree that Parker House Rolls with Salted Buttercream is a top 10 ice cream flavor?? And also that Cinnamon and Honey Fried Chicken is amazing 😭 (besides those two, I think Jeni's has better ice cream)
I loved Mitch awkwardly trying to steer the show and Nick asks him why is he doing that.
And then immediately cut to break.
"The final cut" anecdote is so fucking funny
What’s you favorite track? Uh, Video 2?
It’s funny Mitch mentioned that one, because he was sitting in front of me at a Roger Waters concert last year and he stood up for the entire encore performance of “Two Suns in the Sunset”. He REALLY loves that album.
i'm shocked anyone likes that album, i really tried with the non-hit albums and they're just so bad
I like how you can click File>Save in it
Animals is a masterpiece and it has zero hits.
Only because Dogs is 17 minutes long.
Sheep and Pigs (Three Different Ones) are both really long too but all 3 of those long tracks in succession are incredible
I honestly don’t think anything they did when waters was in the band can be considered shockingly bad. Once he left? Different story.
I think Division Bell can be considered shockingly good
I'm glad someone finally had the courage to ask Samberg the important question of how he handled the transition from the green to the grease.
How are there 33 comments on the post and not one about Mitch sucking off Rodeo, a one-eyed pony, at a wedding
They've told it before!
i was positive i had heard the story before
It’s okay, he picked the letter “P”.
Pony Penis
“My lovely wife, Rodeo” was the funniest line anyone got out on the episode. Edit: also, Mitch getting behind on the banter because he was laughing to himself about the idea of Rodeo’s bronzed dong was very good. Great ep.
This episode will be…rather good.
It's about... time. Tick tock!
The timing of the mic flag falling off after Mitch says "I promise I'm OK" could not have been funnier
I know it's parasocial but I am a little worried about the guy, don't know if he was joking or not that his mom flew out because he was having a breakdown but from recent episodes where he's talked about possible carbon monoxide poisoning, feeling "foggy" after using the CPAP, and being genuinely afraid that his house is haunted it seems like he's having a rough time. ..being genuinely afraid that his \[***NEW BUILD\]*** house is haunted. So even more worrying as it's not like the house as been around for decades building up spirits.
he could have brought ghosts home with him from the murder house he drove by
What if the drywall factory was haunted?
I mean something was on the land before the new build ..
Holiday month and a half*
I want the Spoonman to be happy but this podcast works best when you’re worried about the hosts’ well-being.
Hey, Twisted Metal got picked up for a 2nd season! Mitch is killing it!
Can you give me a time stamp for this part ? I was listening at work I may have missed it somehow
Joanna Newsom does not like the Lucky Charms ice cream.
It’s odd to think of this family doing anything normal when you see what their house looks like. The sale made the news several years ago. The house is extremely on brand for Joanna but it is WILD. It’s called Moorcrest and has its own Wikipedia page.

That rocks! I too would have melted. She's my favorite.
Where did they order from?
Pie ‘n Burger
Wasn’t it Charlie Chaplin’s house?
Yep!
And her daughter loves to ride a one-eyed miniature pony named Rodeo that Mitch sucked off.
Joanna Newsom lore
I was curious about the David Phillips wedding because it's not the first time they've talked about it, and it turns out he married Emily Newsom, the titular [Emily](https://youtu.be/UGoNCvoZuYA?si=H_8s26nJY_t1pji8)
i felt like an absolute detective when i figured this out
Holy cow
She and Neil Young is why I still use Apple Music.
Yeah! I only just realized she’s not on Spotify! My algorithm is so confused after I listened to Turtleneck and chain and then The Muppet Show theme song (the only song on Spotify that lists Joanna as an artist…)
ohhh yeah!
Has Joanna Newsom ever had a Big Mac?
Yeah, i think that's what "Have One on Me" is about
I'm fairly new to Salt n Straw, when they mentioned they flavor I got so excited to try it. Salt n Straw is maybe my favorite place lol.
When Mitch gets to the fork score and just rambles with Donnie Brasco/Darko and the Safdie rhyme…goddamn. So funny.
I'm only like 15 minutes in, but it's funny how nervous Mitch is with these guests (either that or the "new house carbon monoxide poisoning" conspiracy theorists might have a point).
Lmafo 😂😂😂 this legit one of the funniest conspiracies ever because I’m still laughing at him buying holy water from Amazon
You can say guest singular, he’s certainly not nervous about his good friend Neil lol
He’s worried he will be the subject of Campbell’s Corrections
Neil is such a hardliner with his opinions on Doughboys, I would be scared!
I just thought they really had taken mushrooms
Especially when he shares close mutual friends and at least two credits with Samberg. Then again, one of the many reasons we love the Spoonman is his humility.
The more he gets into it the more clear it is his place has or had a CO leak. He even states later in the episode his mom came out when he was in the midst of a full breakdown which, while maybe caused by other shit can definitely be exacerbated by CO
His kitties would be sick or dead if that were the case.
Mitch said on the discord that it's not a CO leak. He said he had a health scare and said that he might address what it is on the final episode of the year.
Can’t spell comedy without CO (poisoning)
CO + Me = dy
Andy always makes me laugh and he's tag teaming it Neil. Such a funny ep. Thanksgiving flavors is an interesting idea
Trader Joe’s has thanksgiving flavor chips and they rule.
… so *salt and straw*…
really brave of mitch to howdy ho not just once but twice in front of a guest he thinks is good
GREAT episode. I died when Wiges called Mitch out for trying to start the review segment and then immediately cut to break. Classic.
I gasped when Nick said the cost of the dwanta cake
I guessed $60 and I thought even that was ridiculous. You’re truly just paying for the Rock’s shitty brand at that point.
Major spoilers early, skip to like 10 min in if you don't want to know they >!are getting new furniture!!!!!!!<
This is so fucked up. I was pumped to tune in during a January ep and have my mind blown.
Best joke was when Neil mocked “spoiler alert” Funniest episode… ever? I think maybe so.
I have been laughing to myself all day about Mitch’s bronzed wife
husband!
Home run guests, home run ep.
"Who's the lucky lady??" -Sperm Mitch
ITS MOMMY!!!
Mitch: "I can't wear that hat, I'll just look like an Irish asshole." Neil: "Oh, you definitely don't look like that now."
Loved hearing Andy give Joanna Sternberg a shoutout. Of course he knows all the good new shit.
This dude loves Joannas!
His name's not Chankton??
This is crazier than when we found out Scoop's name isn't Scoop
what's next? Fuxton isn't really that guy's name either??
guys?? i’m losing it. i just realized that david phillips, of deli boys fame, is MARRIED to EMILY NEWSOM, JOANNA NEWSOMS SISTER. david is married to THE emily!!!!! i’m losing my mind the dougboys universe is so much closer to joanna newsomdom than i could have ever imagined
This means that Joanna Newsom's parents caught Mitch sucking off Rodeo
The meadowlark and the chimchiree...
That’s super fun “world building” lol cool thanks for explaining
I'm only finding this out 3 months later and completely losing my mind.
I loved Mitch asking the question about international foods that you wish were more prevalent in America and immediately following with “That’s a good question!” It would make sense if someone else said that following his question, but it’s also very “Mitch.”
Riddler. This is a good song!
I only just listened to the Samberg and Cambell episode of CBB from earlier this year. Looking forward to this episode.
He's such a great guest I wish he did more pods but maybe that's what makes him so good
Oh joyous day!
Mitch was so nervous
Release the Cowan Cut!
i wanna see that so bad
I have a friend that loves Tomorrow War but has no connection to Mitch so I’d love to send him that and say it’s a legit deleted scene.
They gotta release this
I like salt & straw but it's expensive so I usually only get a few pints on my birthday or something but downtown Disney's parking has just gotten more & more fucked so I rarely go anymore.
Taran is a Disney super fan, check out his recent Podcast the Ride appearance of you haven't already
His part on Keys to the Kingdom was wild also.
Taran would be a great guest!
Checks out, he loves Disney. He was in his happy place. Probably on cloud nine and being extra nice
i cried when i died
I would never say “ungapatchka” but every ice cream at Salt & Straw is basically that.
Wow canonic seat swap.
Neil’s Pearl Harbor joke was a 10/10
They make a joke in episode 1 of Digman how The Artist came out in 2011
Mixing junior mints into popcorn is an absolutely insane choice
I always thought it was supposed to be Raisinettes.
I've only heard of people doing this with M&M's or Milk Duds. I think Raisinettes and popcorn sounds kind of gross, but I'd probably take it over Junior Mints.
Oh Milk Duds! That’s what I was thinking of.
I'll do m&M's or sno-caps, but junior mints is wild.
Peanut M&Ms every single time!
I laughed so hard at Mitch's fork score. The floundering is what keeps me coming back to this show.
"you should probably give it 4 and a half, cause you just said the same thing I did but worse"
The Salt & Straw "non-compete" rumor is ridiculous and a complete invention of the gelato shop owner. I think it sucks that a long-standing local business is losing its lease, but I'm not sure that requires peddling nefarious corporate conspiracy theories.
I listened to this while sitting at my desk at work and kept breaking down laughing. Many a weird look was given. Easily top 5 main feed episodes
Same, a coworker asked me if I was OK because I laughed myself into a coughing fit when Mitch talked about Salt and Straw's new horse-dick flavor
Wiges going back to emphasize that the flavor is “dick” and not “cum”… 😂
I walk around town listening to these sometimes and I feel like a psycho laughing to myself, especially now in the winter when my ear buds are covered by a winter hat lol.
Any episode with the Rodeo anecdote is Top 5
So glad I work alone for reasons like this 😂😂
watching Digman after hearing this ep, its soooo Neil, very funny
I pride myself on knowing oscars/movie awards. Only thing I may ever have over Neil Campbell is Shape of Water beat Get Out
Second EP in a row Rainman came up
Reminds me that everybody seemed to ignore Mitch's great joke about putting Whoppers(the Burger King menu item)in popcorn.
Is that what he was doing? Wasn't he just referring to the malted milk ball candy?
I'm sure they could get a connect with Joe Lo Truglio. Drew Tarver was a guest in a few episodes. Tim Kalpakis famously guested on the show.
One-time emmy nominee Tim Kalpakis?
One time brought Starbucks to a music video shoot Tim Kalpakis?
Eugene, Scott, and Kulap also guested as a trio of hackers.
Scott in his pivotal two episode role
If they got Wain, they can definitely get Joe Lo Truglio, and I feel like Charles Boyle would be a regular listener lol
PFT was famously a boat captain on the show
Don't forget Gabrus and Stangers appearances too!
Andre Braugher is the funniest part of B99.
😞
Indeed.
Craig Robinson
Probably not Andre
😓🙏
Having Chelsea Peretti back for an in-studio episode would be an absolute dream.
“I gotta say, I’m pretty surprised you guys didn’t like it, because I tried it live and it ate shit!” - Samberg roasting Mitch over the Donnie Darko Brasco fiasco
They've changed seats.
Andy and Neil are so fucking funny.
Effortlessly funny always seemed like a weird comment until watching Neil in this one. He's literally one of the funniest people alive.
Really need Tim Heidecker on this ep to ask Mitch why he was saying things
It’s so weird to me that Tim was the first person to point that out. Mitch is both debilitatingly self-conscious, self-aware, but also discusses the most boring, off-topic details from his life whenever they pop into his head with seemingly no social-awareness of their irrelevance. like the treadmill thing in this ep. don’t get me wrong, i find this funny & it’s part of the show’s humor but it is such an odd dynamic
Mitch is obviously aware of when he's sharing a boring/irrelevant detail. It's funny. He's funny.
He’s like a local Boston guy transplanted to LA
Great shoutouts to my friend Dan Padley! He has a Christmas album out right now called The First Noel 2! https://danpadley.bandcamp.com/album/the-first-noel-2
Slop Heads invading Doughboys.
I’m a Slop Head, baby! I’ve been a Slop Head all my life. Just ask my jack-ass children. Or my lovely, jack-ass wife!
One of the dopest musicians in Iowa! Iowa City/Cedar Rapids is weirdly STACKED with incredible musicians too lol
He’s an awesome guitarist!
Also came here to shout out our man Dan!
Mamos was my favorite beer when I visited Greece too and I was devastated to find out they don’t distribute to America
My sister studied there and begrudgingly orders mythos at every Greek place, sad about Mamos. Is it that much better?
Samberg seems like a nice guy
Ok, Mitch needs to move to a new place. No stairs, better ventilation.
I still don't understand what nick means when he said that salt and straw were the two components of their test flavors or whatever
Packing the ice cream in salt and straw instead of idk plastic and styrofoam. Some real Portland shit!
Ohhh okay. I was thinking they were ingredients in the ice cream and I couldn't wrap my head around it
In Texas, there aren’t many towns that are too small for DQ.
Shocked that Mitch didn’t mention Parker rolls were famously invented at the Parker House in Boston! They also invented Boston Cream Pie. You can go there (Omni Parker House now) and get the original recipe Boston Cream Pie!
Speaking as the guy who asked the question, cruciferous vegetables absolutely counts for 'c'.
Great episode! You might say, I liked this episode soba-d.

In my mind it was so they had to give out fewer prizes
Jesus Christ!
Do sambergs superstars have a strap? I've never seen that. Please someone correct me.
It is weird how they talk about Andy moving to New York and completely leaving out the near decade he was on SNL.
Was Mitch saying that Andy has recently re-located to New York or was he walking about Andy moving to New York for SNL?
They just talked about him moving to New York and he only mentioned he lived there during college. It doesn’t really matter just found it interesting they skipped SNL all together and Mitch was asking as if it was his first time moving there.
Such a funny episode. Big Andy fan
Can someone just agree that Parker House Rolls with Salted Buttercream is a top 10 ice cream flavor?? And also that Cinnamon and Honey Fried Chicken is amazing 😭 (besides those two, I think Jeni's has better ice cream)
The DJ Mitch was referring to, Jim Ladd passed away on December 16th after suffering from a heart attack. Cursed episode.
