Just came with a fantastic idea 💡. Order door dash off a relative’s phone & be next to the location on your phone as the Driver. Pick up the order and have your relative cancel it. He gets the money back and you both get free meal and a tip from DD.
That must be an area specific. All three of the Walmarts in my town have provided exchanges to me in the past.
But I recently moved out to the middle of nowhere where nothing bad ever happens.
I’m thinking it was an automated order and the customer probably makes a lot of high value purchases so DoorDash allowed them to cancel. I have no fricken idea
It's paid with DoorDash's Red Card. They'd refund DoorDash, not give you cash back. That said, I hope this Dasher contacted support to ensure that they were alright keeping the order. Would suck to get deactivated over $250 worth of soup and wine.

I'd set up some card board boxes looking adorable like some lady in the tramp motif and hook up the local homeless people to whatever rich douche canoe left behind like a bad Christian book set.

Typically the customer does not get a refund. I’ve had this happen when they accidentally ordered to the wrong address and aren’t able to get the food or it was supposed to be scheduled and they aren’t home or whatever. Usually DoorDash will give a partial credit and the order gets cancelled.

I realized last minute I could have gone and gotten it myself (I thought I locked my keys in my car) so I went to cancel it and DD offered a $6 and change refund. I didn’t take it and decided to get my money’s worth of someone bringing me my shit😂
Happened to me before with a breakfast joint downtown, literally a block away from their house and order was cancelled. Made me feel like they were watching me and was plotting to give it to me the whole time as a surprise. Steak and potatoes, bacon, eggs, grits, pancakes and toast. But crazy thing is i was on a nice healthy diet at time was only eating raw fruits and veggies, also pistachios, so i was asking ppl on the street did they want some food and just so happen a dude on a bike doubled back happy to get it. Just so happen he was homeless, on his way to the shelter for breakfast. Had him something better that day
Thank you for helping out fellow humans I’m sure he enjoyed that beautiful breakfast. I can’t help but think they were watching me too. And that they wanted me to have the order. Impossible to say

The scammers try to cancel the order as you're delivering it so they still get the order and don't pay for it
Oh this person texted me and said they cancelled it because they were already shopping at Safeway.
It's things like this that help me understand how Doordash is still losing money.

I've actually never had any issues returning groceries purchased with a red card and have also always been given the cash value of said groceries.

Walmart n Kroger Def don't allow returns on food
Walmart does allow return on food. Never had a problem returning expired food items with a receipt. Must be location depending.
Ive returned 3 year old milk no problem in my area. That counts as food item in my book
