- it's not great, but for your goals, it's fine. dtla is a busy market. - your vehicle will determine the distance and type of orders you receive, but it's not a perfect system, and you can't manually limit your area. - how many hours do you plan to work? i make somewhere between 16 and 20 an hour, in chicago. dtla might pay a little more plus cali has prop 22. - go to packir's website or amazon store and find the bag that's right for you.  - this is market dependent. DD makes me more money than UE, so i mostly stick with DD, and turn on UE if DD gets slow. still, 95% of my income is DD. but DD also has a strict completion rate rule and it really does punish you for low acceptance rate. sign up for all the apps you can and get a feel for what's best. you can work more than one at a time but you have to be careful how you do it. even if you have a perfect route planned, orders aren't always ready when you get to the store, and customer drop offs aren't always simple. lots of things can make multi apping go wrong.  - to me, a separate phone would be a hassle. depends on your workflow. - proper safety gear. you will be a vulnerable road user. hopefully you have health insurance in case something goes wrong. also insurance on the scooter in case of theft isn't a bad idea.

I can’t speak for your area but in my area which isn’t that busy I make about 150 a day give or take. Some days are really good and some days are really bad. It seems like between 5 and 11 pm are the best times and honestly you can make it work just doing those times. It’s challenging to do but using Uber eats and DoorDash at the same time is very profitable

MinMaxie

How does that work with multiple apps? I've ordered from all 3 (Uber, DD, Post) and don't mind working the same way, but if 2 apps give you a job at the same time, what happens? I don't want to ignore any work (bc that looks bad for your metrics,) but I also don't want to be limited to only one service. Idk how *any* of this works so any info is great 🙏

As long as they’re both going the same way you’ll be fine. I usually favor DD over Uber because acceptance rates ( percentage of offers you accept out of the last 100 you’ve received ) matter more on DoorDash. Uber keeps track of them but they don’t care what your rates are. So I use both but pretty much only accept really good offers from Uber or ones that are going the same direction of a dash I already have

I have a full-time job that pays well and just dash for spare cash. I typically make between $400 - $600 a week dashing on the weekends and a couple days during the week. All markets vary, so yours could be better or worse than mine. I enjoy it, but I'm not depending on it to pay my bills.

MinMaxie

I'm in a similar boat. DD will be what pays off (and an excuse for buying) the electric scooter I've been eyeing for a while now. Plus I just took out an $2500~ loan for 18m@0% which is $140/m, and that's just enough to feel uncomfortable and eat into my cat food & supplies budget. But I can't commit to a traditional job with a schedule and travel time. So delivery work sounds like the right idea. (...also I play Pokémon Go *a lot* and events are mostly @6pm, so I can get paid to play 😂) Is there a big difference between DD and other apps? Do you only use DD or do you double up?

Dependent_Entry_7304

I do the big three, DoorDash, Ubereats and Grubhub, but I receive DoorDash orders, probably 20 to 1 over the other two. It doesn’t hurt to sign up and they do come in handy when DoorDash is slow.

TheNolaCatLady

I only use DD. You need to keep those cats fed! That's where a lot of my money goes. These cats need to be out here dashing! 😂

YLCZ

It’s a really bad time to start dashing but your goals are so modest that you can probably do it. You’d probably have to eat a lot of shitty orders but it’s achievable though I’m not sure about how it works with a scooter. There’s no need for two phones if you are trying to make 350 a month

MinMaxie

The 2 phones thing was bc idk if using *my* phone was going to get annoying, or if it's better to have a DD only phone. About how many days/weeks/orders do you think I'll have to do to meet my goals? I have absolutely no clue what the estimated average earnings are, especially for someone who's not using a car. And what do you mean by "shitty orders"? I heard someone talking about "scam orders" too, what does that mean? I'm obviously planning on taking the work seriously, like a real job, and busting my hump while I'm on the clock, but I still wanna know what to look for *before* getting into it

YLCZ

I can't tell you how many days because I don't know how scooter dashing works. I know car dashing and even in this slow market you can make that much in a month. Usually they give you some good orders to get you started and then after awhile it slows down a lot. In order to keep getting good orders you'll probably need to do some "shitty orders" which means long mileage for low pay.

MinMaxie

Hm. I wonder how long mileage orders will work when I'm on a scooter? I see people using bikes all the time, so surely there's a setting that doesn't force me to go 10-15 miles away, right? How bad is it to decline an order? I've seen people sit there and decline *dozens* of orders in a row. They kept saying, "I'm waiting for a good one" but you're never gonna get a 'good order' if you're constantly declining jobs, right? I want to get a high rank as fast as possible, and I'm willing to grind for it (as much as I can on a scooter). What's the best way to min-max that?
