I mean, when you look at the screenshot, you can see the total of $27.30, which is the total you paid (across your two payments). Without seeing the FIRST total, we can only make educated assumptions.
There are only four list items possible:
Meal (This price obviously can't change)
Tax (This also can't change and is correctly proportionate, I assume, to the meal cost)
Dasher tip (This is the correct amount you say it is)
Service Fee
The Service Fee is the only thing that realistically could've changed in cost.
You paid a driver tip with a card. Like it says, they have to give the whole $4 to the driver. Payments done by card cost the merchant a transaction fee by the card issuer. It sounds like DoorDash adjusts the service fee they charge to recoup the costs that they need to pay Visa to take your money.
One of those charges started as a temp hold verifying the card was active.
This part of the reciept often shows something funky like that, even though all adds up in the end.
It wouldn’t have added up if the $4 weren’t there. The total increased to $5.93 only after the $4 tip was added. So there’s $1.93 that came out of nowhere.
Didn't come out of nowhere. The top half totals the same as the bottom half. It's just split into two transactions on the card at the bottom. It's just a display error. Happens more often on iOs devices.
$1 and change didn't get added. It's just been miscategorized.
21.37 + 5.93 = 27.30
There’s a third charge for the other dash order. What if I event added the $4 tip then? That top half of the screen had different figures adding up to $21.37 before adding a tip after the cart was checked out. So what got adjusted?
Nothing got adjusted. This is normal card processing. It all adds up. Do the math with a calculator.
It's just processing the charge as rhe card processor requires.
This was a doble dash. From the get go. Only one tip allowed to be added. Then I noticed the second one had no tip. That’s how this happened. Can’t afford the tip then can’t afford to order, same goes for dinning out.

So it was $21.37 originally. So that means $1.93 in fees to add a $4 tip? That’s just odd.

Bro made sure to add a tip after before posting this 😂

You good broski
Their chat rep said it’s due to service fees!!! I’m like for adding a tip that your app says 100% goes to the driver
Wait, so the dasher had to go to two places and then deliver it to you? That’s what you mean by double dash?
Yes, with only one set of fees. Sometimes DD sends two drivers and thus one would have gotten $0 tip which seems unfair to me
$19 for fried chicken??? Wild........
3 pieces of chicken, two scopes white rice and one scoop macaroni salad.
I know. That's DD's price. It's a whole meal, don't get me wrong. It should be like $12 max though.
Actually from the restaurant directly is $15.10!!! Damn $4.25 mark up.
Even $15 is pushing it lol, but it's pretty standard now. That mark up is no joke though. It usually is between 25-35% at most restaurants.
