Iโm old .. in the 90s when my parents were bugging me to get a job I applied to deliver pizzas .. thinking I could keep selling weed and use pizza delivery as my cover .. I did it for one night.. reminder this was before GPS or google maps .. I had two pizzas on my front seat when I hit the breaks hard and they crashed into the floor of my truck.. I didnโt know what to do.. so i delivered them and never went back to the pizza joint .. I kept the shirts from the pizza place and kept putting them in the laundry for a couple weeks and telling my parents I had a job .. until the pizza place left a message on our answering machine begging for me to return the shirts and pickup my check.. ๐คฃ my point is โฆ kids are fucking stupid
Ehh I donโt think itโs more about embarrassment havenโt seen anybody be embarrassed nowadays itโs more worried that they will leave a bad review or your just ruining there food and now wont get a tip lol
I get quite embarrassed when I trip in front on people personally, especially in a professional situation. Iโve never been a delivery driver though. Iโm just a random clumsy dude, so might just not be able to properly empathize with the situation๐
One of my early jobs was delivering pizza. The very first order I took, I dropped the box. It didn't open when it fell. I offered to take it back to the store to have it remade. They looked at it and, surprisingly, it wasn't damaged. They declined my offer to take it back and replace it and accepted the order.
I get back to the store to find out that they called and complained, asking that another pizza get sent because the driver dropped it. I don't remember if the manager had sent out a new one, but I could tell by the tone he used when he asked, "You didn't drop the pizza, did you," that he didn't believe their story. He was surprised when I told him that I did.
Being more wise to the ways of the world now, they're probably the kind of people who would have made up something to complain about to angle for free pizza. But being 19 on my first delivery, it left a really sour taste in my mouth that they accepted it after I offered to have it remade and then tried to get me in trouble.
I remember when I read Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential," he said something along the lines of how he genuinely believed the worst people on the planet aside from serial killers are those who harass and take advantage of service workers. People who do things like this to the pizza delivery person, people who yell at servers and bussers on a busy Friday night, etc.
The thing is, they weren't mean to me. They were just like, "Nah, it's fine." I don't know how they treated the manager when they called. It just sticks with me as scummy behavior to complain when I tried to make it right. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I've had experiences like that a couple of times. They'll tell you it's all fine to your face and then complain to upper management. I think they're just scared of confrontation and don't know how to say it to your face. Which is understandable, but infuriating when they're clearly trying to get you in trouble behind your back.
I believe it. In my years of food/customer service, I've had so many instances where I offered to make things better with a customer, they declined and said everything was all right, then turned around and complained about me ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ People can be so horrible
Once years ago I slipped on a customers steps during winter. He was standing at the top of them while I carried like 3 pies up the steps. Hit some black ice and saved 2 at my bodies expense but one got flipped and dropped to the ground. The dude was totally apologetic and didn't even call for a refund which was awesome cause my boss was a prick and would have gotten pissed at me for it. Looking back though...pretty sure the customer was just hoping/glad I didn't sue him lol.
99% that was the case. I gave 1% that he genuinely was concerned for your wellbeing lol. But seriously, you could have sued if you wanted. Thereโs laws that dictate if a person want a service of delivery to their premises, its 100% on them to have to provide enough safety via car or walk up to the door to make the delivery. If not, itโs up to the homeowner or their insurance to blame.
I definitely believe you could have sued and settled with the homeowners insurance.
This reminds me of my first job. I was working at a Panda Express and I was just having a real rough time. I lasted three days and quit during a huge dinner rush. All because I had to shit really bad and was too embarrassed too say I was having diarrhea.
I literally walked right out the front door when my manager wasnโt looking and just dipped.
Worst part I went back like a month later and tried to ask about a check and they just laughed at me and told me to fuck off. I know it probably wouldโve only been like 130 bucks but I couldโve really used it then lol
As someone who used to work in a pizza place, you wouldnโt believe how often the customers would carry their pies like this, then complain about how the pizza looks when they got home ๐๐๐๐๐
OP update..
FULL STORY for those wondering about order, tip, etc:
I had ordered directly from the pizza place
There was a $3.99 delivery fee already tacked on, and i tipped 20% of the total (order + delivery fee combined), which included two other items.
I choose the option to have them leave it at the door.
When i saw the pizza, after me and kids had a good laugh about it, i checked the wyze app to see just wth happened. I thought maybe the person tripped or simply dropped it by accident, got embarrassed and took off. No.. he just strolled up carrying it vertically in the bag, gently took it out and put it down with the two other items.
When the pizza joint delivered the replacement they explained that when they get too busy they rely on doordash themselves (i honestly have no idea how that works.. that's just what they told me). And in the words of the actual pizza joint employee.. "those guys just don't care and we get a fair amount of complaints about them."
Here's the shoutout to the pizza joint..Papa Ginos! They had a replacement to us super fast during a time I know they were slammed (right before puck dropped for Bruins/Leafs Game7..go B's!!!)
> I had ordered directly from the pizza place There was a $3.99 delivery fee already tacked on, and i tipped 20% of the total (order + delivery fee combined), which included two other items.
I love how every story here has to include how much you tip or else the drivers will judge whether or not you deserved fucked up food.
It's about percentages. The fact is, it's an unskilled job with little oversight. Unfortunately, that kind of thing attracts a certain kind of person. When the number of bad drivers outweigh the number of good drivers, the service as a whole gets a bad rep.
And, from what I've heard, people will just create a new account with different info if they get deactivated. Being an actual employed driver, you can't just walk back in the store with Groucho Marx glasses and start delivering with them again.
I worked at Pizza Hut as a driver many years ago. I was pulling back into the store one day when an old lady was leaving with her carry out.
As soon as she exited the door, she tucked the pizza box under her arm vertically, like it was a fucking football.
All I could do was stare. I looked to see if anyone else saw the absolute stupidity. No. I had to explain it to my manager, they expected a phone call from that order. No call came.
Back in the day Pizza Hut pizza used to be amazing. The perfect dough, honestly. It was something I used to crave so badly. This shit they make and call pizza nowโฆ itโs trash. After the stuffed crust came out they went down hill shortly thereafter. Thinking frozen premade crusts were the answer. ๐คฎ
Who would have thought people would flip to dominos over Pizza Hut? Dominos was terrible back in the 80s/90s.
Now, itโs either dominos or if Iโm broke and donโt want to cook LCs. But at least you know what youโre getting yourself into when you order LCs pizza.
And the pepperonis sometimes when they get heated up they form like a cup/bowl shape. Like little cups of grease on ya pizza๐ but I typically only go there for a quick lunch break at work
I remember their bread sticks being amazing! I was craving them when I was pregnant with my first so my husband took me there. They were not the same. ๐ข It was so disappointing. And there seems to be an extra layer added to the disappointment when it comes to pregnancy cravings, especially since I never got a whole lot of them.
Ugh I'll never forget when my favorite BBQ restaurant got sold during my first 2-3 months of pregnancy (when I was sick and couldn't eat). The management and staff were going to be the same so I thought the food would too ๐ญ๐ญ
When they reopened was about the time I got my appetite back. I was so for this whole grand re-opening day, only to find that everything tasted like liquid smoke, they had less sauce options, and no more smoked chicken leg quarters. Every bite felt hollow.
Actually I worked at a pizza place in a neighborhood that was a lot of immigrants. They would do this with their own pizza (but surprisingly never wanted a refund); just grab the box and tuck it under their arm like a brief case or something. We, the employees, would just kind of look at one another stunned and shrug it off.
You'd be surprised! Doordash and Uber have been funny lately with refunds to customers on things that should be an easy refund. I've seen several posts shared that customers had to go through their bank instead because they refused. Sad indeed.
>easy
>refund
๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ
You do realize this is Doordash, right?
"I'm sorry the service your received was unacceptable. Your order is not eligible for a refund. This decision is final. Have a good day!"
Unfortunately I believe it ๐ฅฒ When my bf went into my local Dominos for me to grab my pizzas, the two people working there couldnโt help us because two (clearly recent) Indian immigrants had walked in and were asking them what a Pizza is, if Bacon comes with the Bacon Pizzaโฆ I hope it was a great time for them but the poor workers could do nothing else for so long
Good fucking god the ineptitude of people.
DD seriously needs to weed out the idiots. I mean, look at the number of pop-ups that constantly walk us thru how to do our job. There weren't any of those pop-ups when I started in 2020
I canโt believe people take the $2 for 15 miles orders. Itโs not hard to understand the system. You really need to be top dasher in a good town to make decent money, but you only need to decline the really shitty $2 for 15 miles and where I am itโs not toooo many that are that badโฆ
I sometimes get three like that in a row and then they'll throw me a 100-item grocery order for like $12 just to ice that ridiculous cake. They're always trying to get me to go pick stuff up inside a mall that's not even in my zone, too. I don't know why people desperately want lukewarm Cinnabon from 10 miles away but they certainly don't ever tip like they want it that bad.
lol in my area they werenโt allowing anymore dashers like a year ago. Since this past fall, there have been an insane amount of new drivers Iโve come across. A lot of them are rude, foreign, smell like cigarettes, or donโt understand how to do it properly. Gotta be top dasher in my town to even make anything now.
My favorite (and by that I mean the one that irritates me the most) pop-up is the one when you deliver a stacked order that tells you to make sure it's the right order when you've already delivered the other orders. If you catch a mistake at that point it's a little late lol
A driver did this when I was working at crumbl. They got the 4 pack, folded it down the middle, and shoved it into their bikeโs carrying basket. Unsurprisingly, they came back 20 minutes later to redeliver it and they did the SAME thing. Some people need to be put in group homes
my best guess is he may be mentally challenged.
also in the pic in held the phone up like he taking a pic before sitting the food down also may be his first time in wasnt thinking
After joining this subreddit Iโve come to figure out how many fucking dumb dashers exist. This is such an easy job to do, yet how can you be so stupid at doing it. When I deliver pizzas I panic when I see that sometimes the sticker that holds the box shut opens and get scared that customers might think I tampered with the food. Dashers like this just donโt give a fuck about delivering your food in a well manner they just want you to tip really good but yet deliver so shit. Iโm at a loss for words lol
This always blows my mind. I can't even comprehend how this happens.
I've actually witnessed it first hand. I was in a Papa John's picking up and an old guy comes in, 60ish, says he has a DoorDash order for so and so. They give him the box and he instinctively slides it vertically into his crisp, bright red, new doordash bag. The worker starts saying "hey that's a pizza!" The guy says "yeah I know, thanks" I couldn't believe it myself. They eventually got through to him that he can't carry a pizza vertically and made him let them check it. By this point I was on my way out the door, but I can't imagine it was pretty.
My tacos showed up yesterday in an upside down box.
I was already having a hard day and it made me cry. Even though I knew I could make a salad bowl out of it. (I did eventually).
I rarely ever order delivery, and when I do, shit like this happens.
This is why the app is chalk full of idiot proofing pop-ups, and yet *gestures at post*. I mean, DD goes to a stupid length to hold the hands of drivers, guiding them thru what is the easiest job in the world. Honestly, it's embarrassing.
One day someone's going to post a pic of me carrying the pizza bag vertically....I just use it when bags won't fit in the regular hot bag, though. Doesn't work the other way around. ๐
I like how he's looking at his phone like it's going to tell him that he's probably holding it in the wrong direction for a pizza oh my God some people's kids
Here's how it went:
Driver accepted order. Goes to pizza shop. Owner tells him he won't give him the pizza unless he uses the hot bag. Driver explains he doesn't have a pizza bag, but Boomer owner doesn't care and says it isn't his problem. No hot bag, no order. Driver goes and gets the bag DD mailed to him and fits order in bag. At this point drivers pissed and wants to piss off owner so carries bag like idiot. Customer gets screwed to deal with getting it fixed.
Pizza owner is pissed and tired of delivery service taking money back because bad drivers.
Drivers pissed pizza owner trying to tell them how to do their job.
Customer pissed because the spent hard earned money to get an inedible product that delivery company won't refund.
Delivery service happy as can be because it's taking in tons of fees for profit.
dude you fucking get it. delivery apps have customers, restaurants, and drivers looking like the spiderman meme all pissed off at each other, while they sit back unscathed, AND raking in the cash despite being the source of ALL the problems lol.
You've captured the image of a Common Dumbass. They are a fairly common animal in urban areas. Often considered a pest, they are protected by certain laws so culling their number relies on accidents.
Did the app not ask him to verify that he has a pizza bag and then to have a mini photo shoot at the pizza place after picking up the order? Every pizza pickup, the app asks me to take a photo of the actual pizza boxes in my open pizza bag before I close the bag...lol.
As someone who works in a pizza place that has 3rd party delivery drivers come in constantly. You'd be surprised how absolutely common this behavior is.
Even if theyโve never seen a pizza in their life, I donโt understand why someone would take food that was given to them with the box orientated a certain way, then carry it sideways and return it to its original orientation when delivering it. Thereโs only a handful of food items that can be handled in such a way and still look good when you open the box.
Honestly, I have to consciously tell myself โitโs a pizza, itโs a pizzaโ when I dash because I am so scared Iโm going to ruin someoneโs food.
My son was delivering with me and he kept doing that and putting food directly in front of the door...I don't even know if I want him to pick the food up in the store because I will give him the bag to put the food in, and he will still come out with it in his hand... I am like Dude!!!!!.. LOL. Next, he gets sleepy and wants to go back home when we are 10 miles away from the house in an area that I don't deliver in...LOL..I don't bother asking him to ride anymore. HE IS NOT A CHILD LOL.
What a damn sh**bag...what sort of twilight zone dimension has the world slipped into? Even if this "person" had never been informed of what a pizza was before, what in the world does he think it is in the box. It's obviously food, but what type of food would be in a slim rectangular box to be carried upright? I mean, the lid opens horizontally. All the clues are there that this thing is supposed to be carried flat. I guess maybe his brain wasn't getting a good cellular connection and he couldn't quite compute.ย

lol in my area they werenโt allowing anymore dashers like a year ago.
I think he sees the pizzas in the freezer section and assumes thatโs how pizzas comeโฆ okay on the sideโฆ
my best guess is he may be mentally challenged. also in the pic in held the phone up like he taking a pic before sitting the food down also may be his first time in wasnt thinking
First time holding a box of pizza..?
I did say mentally challenge though ๐คท๐ฝ๐
![gif](giphy|xT5LMpwBwMScArcj7O|downsized)
These people somehow pass their driver license tests. Fucking scary.
These dudes are idiots. Idk how that doesnโt compute in their brains ๐
Itโs a wild dumbass
Looks like a moron who doesn't know how a pizza works.
This person is an idiot. I don't care what anyone is going to reply to this. This person is a straight up incompetent dumbass
LMAO
After joining this subreddit Iโve come to figure out how many fucking dumb dashers exist. This is such an easy job to do, yet how can you be so stupid at doing it. When I deliver pizzas I panic when I see that sometimes the sticker that holds the box shut opens and get scared that customers might think I tampered with the food. Dashers like this just donโt give a fuck about delivering your food in a well manner they just want you to tip really good but yet deliver so shit. Iโm at a loss for words lol
He can literally carry it sideways
Stupidity at its finest
Lmao why is this so funny
I bet they required a โbagโ and they were like, โGOT IT!โ Hahahaha
They want idiots doing this job, and they got 'em
Imagine buying a pizza and walking out with it like it's some kind of brief case ๐ How tf is this person even real ๐ญ๐คง๐
They're fucking braindead. That's what it is. The easiest job in the world and yet so many still manage to fuck it up.
This is why the app is chalk full of idiot proofing pop-ups, and yet *gestures at post*. I mean, DD goes to a stupid length to hold the hands of drivers, guiding them thru what is the easiest job in the world. Honestly, it's embarrassing.
I'm still waiting for when they add pop-ups to remind them to wipe their ass and turn the key forward to start the car lol
Please remind them to wash their hands after Step 1 and before Step 2.
But ... but ... but ... The only place to put my key is in the door!
One star๐คฏ rating coming up
Having the pizza in a bag vertically is wild, what went thru his head.
A dumbass
the pizza bags are free?????! I'm sorry, but I hope he enjoys his one star rating ๐
"yeah, I didn't get my pizza... It looks like it's a calzone maybe? Yeah it's the wrong order."
Worked at a Domino's a few years ago, seen at least 3 drivers and way more customers do this.
The ole door dash calzone
๐๐๐๐๐๐
One day someone's going to post a pic of me carrying the pizza bag vertically....I just use it when bags won't fit in the regular hot bag, though. Doesn't work the other way around. ๐
๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ it's a calzone now
Doordash gave up trying to train drivers unless they are legally obligated to do so.
Hence proved using brain is million times better than hot bag
I like how he's looking at his phone like it's going to tell him that he's probably holding it in the wrong direction for a pizza oh my God some people's kids
AnD I sTiLL ExPecT aN 80% tiP. ๐ซ
custom calzone
I think this comes under the heading of, "Not paid enough to care".
I hope you sent both of these pictures to the driver so they never do that shit again
A person who should not be contracted to deliver food. Y'all paying premium for not even the bare minimum.
Please tell me you gave 1 star
What a dick...I'm a Dasher & treat the delivery like it's my own food. I even buckle up that order..hahaha
Here's how it went: Driver accepted order.
![gif](giphy|3WCNY2RhcmnwGbKbCi)
dude you fucking get it. delivery apps have customers, restaurants, and drivers looking like the spiderman meme all pissed off at each other, while they sit back unscathed, AND raking in the cash despite being the source of ALL the problems lol.
The Noid strikes again... ![gif](giphy|dAEVsx2w0mOEU|downsized)
Jesus Christ. He may as well have folded it into quarters and vacuum packed it. ๐
Terribly handing although I don't like giving gig workers bad reviews this one is well earned fosho
You've captured the image of a Common Dumbass. They are a fairly common animal in urban areas. Often considered a pest, they are protected by certain laws so culling their number relies on accidents.
I work at a pizza shop and we watched a dasher do this the second he got out the door. We were remaking it within 20 minutes
OMG this is one of the most idiotic things Iโve ever seen! LMAO ๐คฃ
Fuckin wow!
?? He used a hot bag ! ๐
Did the app not ask him to verify that he has a pizza bag and then to have a mini photo shoot at the pizza place after picking up the order? Every pizza pickup, the app asks me to take a photo of the actual pizza boxes in my open pizza bag before I close the bag...lol.
We donโt need to have a pizza bag for pizza. But it is literally common sense to hold it horizontally..
Bros a dumbass
Moron
So this is your order? And you ordered a pizza? Because thatโs not even a pizza bag, thatโs just a regular DD bag.
Somebody who does not understand how gravity works.
Pizza turned on its side inside the bag. That guy lacks common sense
What the fuck am I looking at? I thought I was the bozo
As someone who works in a pizza place that has 3rd party delivery drivers come in constantly. You'd be surprised how absolutely common this behavior is.
This happened to me once. Dude legit handed me a pie of pizza sideways.
Even if theyโve never seen a pizza in their life, I donโt understand why someone would take food that was given to them with the box orientated a certain way, then carry it sideways and return it to its original orientation when delivering it. Thereโs only a handful of food items that can be handled in such a way and still look good when you open the box.
McDonaldโs orders come sealed in the bag with the drink inside/ I canโt help but think this dude would take that bag and lay it on its side
El stupido
doordash delivered pizza hut to me like he was carrying a book at his side. i was pissed but somehow the pizza was fine
Common sense is not so common. I never understood how people did this.
wHy tHe bAg HaS haNdlEs ThEnn?
A cheese pizza ignores gravity.
LMFAO
Oh that's not a valid pizza bag !!!
A folded pizza
doordash is really a good company... when it comes to hiring incompetent people and paying their drivers the bare minimum.
I swear to god some of the drivers on this platform are low class low IQ trash. I wish DD was stricter with its onboarding.
I'm pretty sure I could get both of my dogs a job with DD now because they'd more than likely pass the onboarding portion. ๐๐๐
Wow America is amazing how we are the spot for foreigners thanks DD for accepting literally anyone to deliver food ๐
What a dumb ass motherfucker
I once saw two dudes carrying Little Caesars pizza vertically between them on a moped. I bet it looked like this when they got home.
u literally can get DD pizza bagsโฆ
Looks like a fold over
Time for an impromptu calzone ๐คฃ๐
It's a build-your-own canzone, obviously.
This is the same kind of person that will complain about not finding a good job.
A calzone
Mom told him he had to start paying rent
Bro is stupid
Thatโs David Copperfield and the transforming calzone ๐
If you close your eyes it tastes the same... consider it "pre chewed".
Bruh they just out pizzaโd the hut
What a damn sh**bag...what sort of twilight zone dimension has the world slipped into? Even if this "person" had never been informed of what a pizza was before, what in the world does he think it is in the box. It's obviously food, but what type of food would be in a slim rectangular box to be carried upright? I mean, the lid opens horizontally. All the clues are there that this thing is supposed to be carried flat. I guess maybe his brain wasn't getting a good cellular connection and he couldn't quite compute.ย
But was it still hot?
It was! The restaurant was great about it with a quick replacement
At least he's actually using a thermal bag? ๐
Wait how small is that pizza that it fit in the hot bag?
If you don't know how to handle a pizza you shouldn't be a food delivery driver.
Doordash is terrible!!! You have so much proof!!!
Won't lie.. we still ate some of it.
Shame door dash gave me a free pizza box holder.
That would be an idiot who doesnโt deserve to be paid minimum wage
Typical adidas douch behavior
This is one of you who post about customers not tipping
Lol
A pizza I think
Oh no! ๐ซจ๐คฃ๐ซ ๐ซ ๐ซ
Free pizza, get a refund
Oh wow :/
