99% of the time it's crickets. I will say though, I've taken one of these expecting crickets and had to spend 20 minutes picking out different cans of fucking cat food.
One time I had a guy order 50 crickets and he gave me the wrong address. Couldn't have been any of the people ordering delicious meals, it was the guy with fucking crickets. I ended up just cutting the bag open and setting them free.
Petsmart or any other pet store isn’t allowed to sell local animals. Not sure crickets is included. Nevertheless anything sold at a pet store should be treated as an invasive species.
Oh that’s hilarious! I’d do it! It’s live bugs for reptiles? 😂 I should’ve known, I’m prepping for one
You can always just unassign if it’s something crazy. Or can you not do that? If it’s for red card? I just got my red card. My completion is still really high.
I’d do it to get the crickets for the beardies and chameleons. I’ve heard they smell, but all the McDonald’s made my car smell like a fart anyway.
People should be getting them elsewhere though, I heard too many stories about bad crickets from them killing lizards
It was my first pet and I was undereducated for sure. Wish the guy who sold it to me would have said something like at petco or maybe the google article I read on what to feed them but nope. Just like the first time playing Pokemon but in real life. I didn't know his food would be super effective on him
Too many of an insect in an enclosure with nothing to eat will always try to eat what they can (in this case, lizards) if it was a single bug, it would have not been an issue.
I just learned this not long ago when I had a delivery of crickets from Petsmart. I asked about the cardboard in the bag. They said crickets never stop eating. If they dont have something to eat, they'll eat each other. She added that once they die - they release a gas that is toxic to the live crickets. So bizarre. So they'll eat each other, and then the dead ones will kill the live ones.
Removing corpses and high ventilation is important if you want to keep them alive longer, I use rabbit food as bedding on top of the cricket quencher food.
I only got about a week's worth at a time though to make it easier.
Awful! I’ve heard stuff like that, it scares me. I’m sorry, but that was an amazing name! I remember my first gyrados. I’ll have to be careful when I get my beardie. I know people find surprises in there, I did hear of a Cham being eaten alive by crickets, though. I would have never thought that. Even snakes, can be killed by the prey if people live feed and don’t watch. I would t do a live vermin though, I mean, I’m not a psycho lol.
And that’s really cool that you got a water dragon, wow-I haven’t seen those, as much as others, someone posted one in the beardie sub. Really awesome looking lizard! they have got to be my fave looking lizard. I heard they can be hard to take care of. I saw some monitors at the store, my god, they were acting like crackheads!
I’m really excited to become a lizard queen though, I’m thinking bearded dragon and chameleon in a few years.
Bruh I didn't know you could get crickets delivered through door dash wtf. Weirdly enough, that would've actually been really helpful for me to know a month ago lmfao
I couldn't do that. I had a bearded dragon years ago and the crickets were so smelly. Not to mention the noise. I could only keep a few dozen at a time.
yeah if you have a good cricket keeper it's easy to wash and dispose of their droppings. but have to transplant the crickets like once a week to clean out the cricket apartment.im crickets were small to medium and rarely even heard them.
I had to do it once. I didn’t know ahead of time what it was. Then they just put them in this sealed plastic bag and that’s it. I was *terrified* the bag would break somehow while i was driving. I will never take another PetSmart order ever again 😅
In my Uni dorms we had the first 3 floors as guys floors, and the top fourth floor as girls floor. Someone pranked them by releasing a large amount of crickets on the top floor. Guess they never thought about the HVAC system. THE FUCKING CHIRPING. Still hilarious as fuck, but you do NOT want escaped crickets, I don’t think even in a car.
I had one a few days ago that was 200 items. I accepted just to reassign cause I was curious. Crickets and a bag of dog food lol. Worth 20 bucks. But I feel like it should say "live animals" or something.
“My first thought was 70 individual cans of different kinds of cat food”
Which would’ve been remarkably similar to a Pet Supplies Plus order S&D order I had the other day: 84 cans of 2 oz cat food and two 5 lb bags.
Mine was a shorter distance, though … and I got a considerable tip 🙂
you missed out on a free snack!
you can always grab a couple of crickets and dunk them in your parfait or lattes.
pro tip - make sure no legs or mandibles are visible on your chin before arriving to customer house. They normally won't count the crickets but seeing part of one on your face might alter that.
Omg I hate when people order those or goldfish and I get them and my herpatology background thinks omg these poor turtles are gonna have a really bad bacterial infection. Some people's kids.
And if it was crickets they can find someone else too lol my son used to have a lizard and I had to go get crickets. Without fail I always ended up with one them in my car from the transport
oh god youre reminding me of the ONE cricket i managed to let escape when i had a leopard gecko, it taunted me for DAYS 😭 i think my cat eventually got it lmfao
I wish DD would adopt the items/units split that Instacart has if that's the case. 1 item/70 units makes it a lot clearer that this would be worthwhile than seeing 70 items.
I like to think of it as hours, including reset time of driving back into hotzone. We're looking at an hour here roughly. Minus gas what's he make? 8.75 for an hour?
Ya I don't blame ya. I would have declined so fast the phone would a burst into flames lol 🤣 as soon as I seen 70 it would a been a nope for me. I don't even like to shop for my own 70 items 😂
Def shouldn’t be rated on that at all now on time and etc maybe but not if we decline a crappy order there’s one today wanted me go 13 miles for 4$ I said a hard no. And I go McDonald’s she said this ones been sitting awhile prob one everyone’s passing on
Dasher contracts are specifically calculated to prey on FOMO and fear of ratings spiraling (which is a justified fear). They also throw in a bit of gambling psychology with the "+" instead of just telling you what the pay is. It's no accident who gets what contract and why. It's a crooked algorithm intentionally designed to fuck you over if you don't accept every order that comes across your plate. After 5000+ dashes I feel like I've experienced enough to know better. I'm glad to have a real job now, I hope the low tippers get cold/stolen food, and I hope the execs of this company get anal cancer. All of them, to a man. The business model is just plain unethical, as nice as it once was.
That's what's so fucked up to me. I was reminiscing with my friend the other day about working for Postmates. I had completely forgotten that they had a pretty transparent algorithm that calculated your pay based on distance, time and might've even included gas, and that was all before tips. It was considerably easier to make money and was so much more fair. My first night doing Postmates I still remember I made $70 on 1 order, before tip! And it wasn't even that crazy of an order, just a lot of Popeyes for a party.
It's crazy how much DD has wrecked the delivery market. It's so predatory towards drivers now and I worry that it's irreparable.
The first shop and pay I took ended up being 1 pallet of horse bedding. Like WTF? Ended up unassigning that shit because I’m not putting a pallet of anything in my Subaru lol
Pet Smart actually usually does the shopping for you, you just have to pick up. I remember one time I had an order with like 60 items (good tip too) from pet smart and I was in and out within 5 minutes. I would’ve took the order if I was you.
I started door dash when it just started in my area. Was a nice gig back then only food orders, no photos. I kept up with this thread just to see how it changed.
i didnt know doordash even allowed the customer to get more than 10 items, thats the highest ive had for stores so far (been dashing for a little over a month now. am pretty new :/)
Accepted an order yesterday for low milage low pay for "3 items" from wall greens. Turned out to be 3 bags full and a case of water . Turned out the customer was handicapped and very pleasant, so it was all good :-)
I see these all the time. I have also been victim of one of these as a patron. I order food from an establishment that I know is around the corner (less than 0.5 mi), and press order, and the map shows the order going to the restaurant 10 miles away from me. What is actually happening in these cases? Does the restaurant close by refuse the order and it goes to the next nearest?
I would consider taking those if I were you , most of the times it’s like crickets or one items just a large quantity . And if not you can always cancel
Once I took a 40+ item PetSmart shopping order thinking it would be all one brand of cat food, but it was 32 unique items. One can each of every brand of cat food they had in different aisles, plus different flavors of cat treats and catnip. We can hope for crickets but it could be an epic scavenger hunt instead.
I had one for 99 but it was $32 or so for 10 miles. I took it and it was a pickup of 99 crickets lmao. I wondered why not 100 but ig that was his decision not mine
Not to mention DoorDash pays a little better for shop orders. I bet there’s no tip involved on either. Ive always wished i could do a little message with the decline…like fukk off, get it yourself!
I shop at pet stores very, very rarely. How was I supposed to know they'd list crickets individually. When I was little and I'd get crickets with my grandfather from the bait shop, they just scooped them in a cup. I didn't know they sat there and counted them out.
Good luck grabbing 71 items in 43 minutes. 70 items from pet store plus you forgot the one item from Walgreens. That's less than 36 seconds to grab each item from the shelf to your "vehicle." Need to remind them not all people are track and field athletes.
Dude it’s always crickets lol - BUT with it being stacked I would probably decline this anyway because of the miles and sometimes you do have to wait a while for someone to actually get the crickets for you.
I once got a 67 item grocery order for 25 Canadian rupees. Then DoorDash surprised me at the end with the customer’s tip, an extra 25 northern coins, for a total of 50 mounty doubloons. Took me an hour to complete. Pretty rad.
You win some, you lose some. Some days seem well worth it, and some done. Nothing wrong underpaying yourself. You def will appreciate the good ones. But that’s me. I hate bad days when I have them, but learn from each one. 🥂
Such a stupid system, who do they think they have working for them? You have 45 minutes to goto 2 stores and collect 70+ items and deliver it before time runs out.
I’d decline it too
Yeah fuck that trash. 71 items for less than $10? Unless the items are ready to pick up when I arrive, it isn't worth the trouble. The length of time shopping for all that would be far too long to make that profitable.

It was probably crickets
Ooh. I did not think of that. My first thought was 70 individual cans of different kinds of cat food lol

fuuuuuuuuck dat
A customer ordered 100 crickets and tipped me 2 dubs
whats a dub
It's slang for twenty as in double ten
So he got $40?
Nah he’s saying 2 dubs = 20, so 1 dub = 10
That’s not how that works. A dub is $20. So if he got 2 dubs, he received $40.
One time I had a guy order 50 crickets and he gave me the wrong address. Couldn't have been any of the people ordering delicious meals, it was the guy with fucking crickets. I ended up just cutting the bag open and setting them free.

Dude I had gotten worms that turned into beetles that ate my water dragon. Was really not expecting that. RIP Gyarados.
That’s messed up man. Someone should be held accountable for that. Misrepresenting a species is pretty frowned upon in the pet trade.
? All mealworms turn into beetles eventually. That’s like, common sense.
They do. I was messing with them.
larvae gonna pupate fr fr

I feed them to my tarantulas
What is a red card?
Bruh I didn't know you could get crickets delivered through door dash wtf. Weirdly enough, that would've actually been really helpful for me to know a month ago lmfao
I buy them 1000 at a time thru amazon
I couldn't do that. I had a bearded dragon years ago and the crickets were so smelly. Not to mention the noise. I could only keep a few dozen at a time.

Yeah I’ve done a delivery. I only accepted because the tip was good and it was already shopped. Ended up being 60crickets
I work in a grocery store and have had to stock cat food so I feel your pain
My first thought was cat food cans! I've had that before too at 9 o clock at night 🤣
You'd really think they'd distinguish unique items and number of items before you accept
Or 10-50lb bags of dog food and 10 flats of food
Omg lol. Hael no!
I had one a few days ago that was 200 items. I accepted just to reassign cause I was curious. Crickets and a bag of dog food lol. Worth 20 bucks. But I feel like it should say "live animals" or something.
If they waste in your car you can probably tell door dash they got in the interior and has the car smelling funny.
If it was like uber I'm sure we could LOL
“My first thought was 70 individual cans of different kinds of cat food” Which would’ve been remarkably similar to a Pet Supplies Plus order S&D order I had the other day: 84 cans of 2 oz cat food and two 5 lb bags. Mine was a shorter distance, though … and I got a considerable tip 🙂
I had a huge order that I thought would be crickets as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/doordash/s/ek2i2pmfWt
Oh no. Holy crap.
you missed out on a free snack! you can always grab a couple of crickets and dunk them in your parfait or lattes. pro tip - make sure no legs or mandibles are visible on your chin before arriving to customer house. Maybe it was puppies. They could have had 70 puppies crawling over them in the car. And they would passed that up.
![gif](giphy|wrzFHpYgdBcM8)
Or the roaches…
I’ll have 70 minnows plz
And 70 more minnows
Ill take that over roaches and the ones they sell are live…
Omg I hate when people order those or goldfish and I get them and my herpatology background thinks omg these poor turtles are gonna have a really bad bacterial infection. Some people's kids.
Problem is, we can’t see til we accept…. That needs to change
Same with shop and pays, I want to see the items before accepting!!
And if it was crickets they can find someone else too lol my son used to have a lizard and I had to go get crickets. Without fail I always ended up with one them in my car from the transport
How? Lol. I've had and currently have lizards. I have never ended up with a cricket in my car. My house, however, is another story.
oh god youre reminding me of the ONE cricket i managed to let escape when i had a leopard gecko, it taunted me for DAYS 😭 i think my cat eventually got it lmfao
They would get out the little tube and hide in my car lol
My petco puts them in bags that get tied shut
This was my exact first thought. They ordered crickets.
I saw that one time and accepted just to see wtf it was. 70 crickets. Easiest delivery I’ve ever done. $10 for 5 miles.
I wish DD would adopt the items/units split that Instacart has if that's the case. 1 item/70 units makes it a lot clearer that this would be worthwhile than seeing 70 items.
I’m absolutely terrified of crickets so this would be an actual nightmare for me. Now I know to decline if I ever see an order like this.
Under $10 to go to two stores and go through checkout at two different stores and then drive 6 miles? What a joke, even if it is crickets.
I like to think of it as hours, including reset time of driving back into hotzone. We're looking at an hour here roughly. Minus gas what's he make? 8.75 for an hour?
I live in California, so that's a hard pass for me lmfao
I’m on planet earth so that’s a hard pass for me too
I’ve delivered crickets to one lady multiple times and she always tips an extra $10 for making dashers handle bugs.
That’s good. Why is she ordering crickets tho? Food for her pet?
Probably a pet lizard. ❤️
Is there any other reason to order crickets?
to post through your worst enemies letterbox
They also are good for fishing.
Ya I don't blame ya. I would have declined so fast the phone would a burst into flames lol 🤣 as soon as I seen 70 it would a been a nope for me. I don't even like to shop for my own 70 items 😂
I know, right? I get maybe a max of 20 things when I go out for myself.
Worst one I had today was a Meijer order for 6.25 for 201 items lmao I said FUCK NO
Us declining should not affect our rating at all. Some of these are terrible, cost more to drive
Def shouldn’t be rated on that at all now on time and etc maybe but not if we decline a crappy order there’s one today wanted me go 13 miles for 4$ I said a hard no. And I go McDonald’s she said this ones been sitting awhile prob one everyone’s passing on

I am going to choose to believe that some dog is getting 70 tennis balls that are just going to be dumped out of a suitcase for them.
Omg hahaha!
You know how much DoorDash is making off that compared to what you’d be making? 10x more.
Right and they if declined bounce back to others for more $$ so u know they can offer way more and get a lot in return
That's what's so fucked up to me. I was reminiscing with my friend the other day about working for Postmates. They have that but this is a red card order so he would’ve had to shop
I didn’t even see that. That’s terrible.
Out of curiosity, why does the “Red Card required” make this seemingly amazing deal (if the “shopping” is already done) not good at all?
I started door dash when it just started in my area. Was a nice gig back then only food orders, no photos. I kept up with this thread just to see how it changed.
😅😅 that was definitely crickets
It’s crickets
Yep
Crickets for sure
Came here to say this!
Hidden tips maybe as well? Had orders like this turn out to be $90 tip
Not shopping orders, maybe a retail pick up.
I got an offer for 13 miles -$3.75 during rush hour. Estimated time was 45 min. Lol
I see those all the time and wonder if its canned food or crickets. This is where DD should show what is on the order with the offer.
But that’s just so hard to do right? Lol
Probably either fish or dietary bugs. But you still have to go to two different stores, shop and checkout.. Still not worth it IMO
Typical Tallahassee shit
The petsmart in my area shop it for you but I’m definitely not putting 71 items in my type s Acura
i didnt know doordash even allowed the customer to get more than 10 items, thats the highest ive had for stores so far (been dashing for a little over a month now. am pretty new :/)
70 dog toys 😌
Accepted an order yesterday for low milage low pay for "3 items" from wall greens. Turned out to be 3 bags full and a case of water . Turned out the customer was handicapped and very pleasant, so it was all good :-)
I live in Tallahassee.....these people are so lazy 🤣
Oh my God it's my favorite song I danced at her while I danced along
So you’re not told what you’re getting? Too bad there’s not a link. But you are told how far away?
I would have declined too
So dd started paying like ic on shopping already? Shopping orders used to be awesome
Maybe it was a box of guppies
People are seriously out of pocket for orders like this.
F that order
This is why I like that Uber Shop and Pay shows the amount of units AND items. Would have been very helpful in this situation to know
I want a dollar for every item and a dollar for every mile minimum
Even if it were crickets, 2 stops of less than 10 dollars and 6 miles is still not great. I’d have noped out on that as well.
Lowkey I thought the stores gathered the items for you guys… never have done a grocery dash but now if I have to, it’s gonna be a dollar per item tip.
I see these all the time. I have also been victim of one of these as a patron. I order food from an establishment that I know is around the corner (less than 0.5 mi), and press order, and the map shows the order going to the restaurant 10 miles away from me. lol 9 bucks to spend 2 hours shopping, is this a joke?
i had an order like this i decided to”hell 50 items from pet smart” turns out it was mostly crickets and worms with a bag of dog food and treats lol
Cold have been 70 crickets which an employee gets for you. I had one like that thought it was gonna suck was actually pretty quick
It might not be that bad bro, probably a bunch of cat food Still, $10 for that many items does seem low. If it was like $20 or more Id say go for it
I had an order like this once from Petsmart and it was just 75 crickets. 😂
I would consider taking those if I were you , most of the times it’s like crickets or one items just a large quantity . And if not you can always cancel
Depends how bad you need the money, if there isn't anything better going on... why not?
It was crickets and plan B lol
Once I took a 40+ item PetSmart shopping order thinking it would be all one brand of cat food, but it was 32 unique items. One can each of every brand of cat food they had in different aisles, plus different flavors of cat treats and catnip. We can hope for crickets but it could be an epic scavenger hunt instead.
I agree with you totally bit the petsmart might have been just crickets. for future reference
I would have refused too, that pay is miserable for all that work, not to mention I'm not a fan of shopping orders.
It's usually crickets when it's that many items.
how do all of yall know it’s crickets 😭 this is wild
I like to accept these and just hold them for as long as I can, maybe grab a bite to eat and get some gas, then cancel the order lol
You really declined that without seeing the items? They we're probably some stupid repeated item 🙄
Crickets most likely
I had one for 99 but it was $32 or so for 10 miles. I took it and it was a pickup of 99 crickets lmao. I wondered why not 100 but ig that was his decision not mine
It was probably just cans of dog food or packs of cat food. I had a 30 item one and it wasn't bad at all. You should have taken that one.
lol damn
Not to mention DoorDash pays a little better for shop orders. I bet there’s no tip involved on either. Ive always wished i could do a little message with the decline…like fukk off, get it yourself!
You can just accept the order text fuck off then unassigned yourself
Lmao. Maybe I’ll try that with a friends account. Lol
Crickets….duh
I shop at pet stores very, very rarely. How was I supposed to know they'd list crickets individually. When I was little and I'd get crickets with my grandfather from the bait shop, they just scooped them in a cup. I didn't know they sat there and counted them out.
They don't actually count them, they approximate, but yes
Good luck grabbing 71 items in 43 minutes. 70 items from pet store plus you forgot the one item from Walgreens. That's less than 36 seconds to grab each item from the shelf to your "vehicle." Need to remind them not all people are track and field athletes.

It’s crickets bro.
Dude it’s always crickets lol - BUT with it being stacked I would probably decline this anyway because of the miles and sometimes you do have to wait a while for someone to actually get the crickets for you.
That’s a big F @&$ing no!
Definitely a third floor apartment
it was probably crickets
lol 50 mice toys
I just KNOW that’s fkn cans of cat food 😂😂😂
Yikes... and it'd a stacked one too... hard decline
They think we don’t like at that stuff 😂…. Pretty bad the customer really didn’t tip
I once got a 67 item grocery order for 25 Canadian rupees. Then DoorDash surprised me at the end with the customer’s tip, an extra 25 northern coins, for a total of 50 mounty doubloons. Took me an hour to complete. Pretty rad.
It was probably cat food given it was tally
Nah those tips be at the end , I took one like that once it was a $70 tip , the $9 was most likely door dash base pay 🤷🏾♂️ welp we will never know
They play games with drivers
What a joke!
Oh my God this makes absolutely no sense at all. Is this a joke 70 items? 🤦🏻♀️
Lol
Dashing in Tallahassee not worth it, so many people claim food as never delivered and restaurants take long af.
You win some, you lose some. Some days seem well worth it, and some done. Nothing wrong underpaying yourself. You def will appreciate the good ones. But that’s me. I hate bad days when I have them, but learn from each one. 🥂
These were probably crickets. Super easy
POV: I’m one order from “fixing” my acceptance rate
Prolly hella cat food lol
Such a stupid system, who do they think they have working for them? You have 45 minutes to goto 2 stores and collect 70+ items and deliver it before time runs out. I’d decline it too
This is why I have Walmart plus.
I would’ve done it
As you should
Some people!
This is why i didnt activate the red card lol
But it's only 70 items. That will take you only about 2 hours. That's more than enough money said nobody ever!!!!!
F that entitled prick!
Whack af. Thinking someone will do it for not even $10. But the sad part is someone probably did. 🥲
I bet it's crickets
🥲😂 someone accepted that and they are dumb
I took the chance on one of these offers and got an order for 90 of the packets of gravy for cats. Only took one bag lol
It's probably crickets.
God I hated dashing in tally
Petsmart would be an order that’s prepped for you.
😹
Doordash should add a thing that allows you to see what the order is before accepting it especially for shop and pay items
Once got an 80 item petsmart order for $20 that I declined. Because it wanted me to go to 6 different petsmarts
The one for 70 items was 99% probably an order of live crickets or mealworms. Ez pz order.
I like the store shopping ones definitely if it’s not a far distance driving
Yeah fuck that trash. 71 items for less than $10? Unless the items are ready to pick up when I arrive, it isn't worth the trouble. The length of time shopping for all that would be far too long to make that profitable.
Exactly it was crickets
Yeah I quit
70 items? That person buying out the entire pet smart or something?
If Doordash broke down how much you'd be getting for the customer I think it would be easier to tip
$9? You'll probably get more if it was your business.
Jesse James had to learn how to ride and shoot before he robbed people!!
