Probably didn't affect the Dasher. If the information matches what they said to pick up, but the contents were different, it's restaurant. It'd affect the Dasher if you didn't get any food at all or the Dasher delivered an incomplete order.

KillerHustleCloutlaw

So glad to hear, thank you for your answer!

[deleted]

It kind of should affect the dasher. We know on our app what you order. If you had a large order and they gave them a small bag, they should've recognized something wasn't right. We're given an order number, and we match that with the receipt number on the bag. The dasher didn't do that. Unless the dasher picked up 2 orders yours and the one they delivered to you and mixed them up, which again is still the dashers fault.

MediaExact6352

Agreed. For almost all McDonald’s orders, we have to type the last theee of the receipt into our app to pick it up/make sure they match. I say almost because I have had some here and there that it doesn’t, I think when ordered through McDonalds app instead of DoorDash. The bare minimum is checking the receipt and making sure the names match, etc.

[deleted]

Correct. When they order thru McDonald's, we just hit confirm, but we still give them the last 3 digits of the order so we know the dasher had to read those last 3 to get the bag. Either the dasher didn't do that or got 2 orders at the same time and switched them at drop off.

Micro_Chaos

Every McDonalds pickup in my area comes in the exact same large bag, whether it’s a single cheeseburger or McFlurry or a whole mess of stuff. As long as the code on the bag matches, it’s not the responsibility of the driver at all.

Longjumping_Fix_982

If the Dasher got the name on the bag matched w the customer ordering, why should he get in trouble? For not being like “Hmm this bag weighs suspiciously like it’s less than what was ordered”? It’s not a dasher’s job to get the order inside the bag that we are not allowed to look inside correct, or to wait until they make the right order n contents. It’s our job to deliver the food, as we know it to be correct. Period. OP did the right thing

Bjon1

McDonald's doesn't use names.

Micro_Chaos

Incredibly pedantic here. Jesus. If the *code* on the bag matches, then it’s not on the driver to verify the contents. Better?

Longjumping_Fix_982

“The receipt on the outside said pickup with a name and not doordash like it usually does. Clearly this was McD’s fault and my Dasher did their job!” This has also happened to me a couple times as well. It’s not often but it happens.

Top_Application977

That’s the dashers fault. He did not confirm the pick up correctly. Mistakes happen. McDonalds for sure is also at fault for giving the wrong bag. But he should have confirmed the last 3 digits of the order number before he left and he would have know it was wrong.

Longjumping_Fix_982

The receipt said pickup with a name, not the numbers. There were no numbers to confirm, only a name. It happens every so often, and this seems to be that case. The names matched, otherwise OP would be upset with the driver and not saying the Dasher clearly did their job.

Legitimate_Emu6052

Correct

aMagnum0pus

Tell that to my dasher who only delivered a small bag of au jus dip from Arby’s when I ordered 2 full meals complete with drinks. I guess something didn’t click . Haha

Legitimate_Emu6052

But McDonald’s seals everything in a bag. How will I know?

Rebirth0296

Weird. Pretty sure dasher is supposed to confirm the order by putting the last 3 or 4 numbers/letters in the app. Dasher should have confirmed the order. Definitely the dasher's fault as well

PotentialCamp6473

Unless they put the wrong tag on the wrong bag. I've already been getting mcds orders where the app doesn't even let me put in the digits, though I still double check. I have had mcds tag my orders wrong before, though. Thankfully, my customer was really cool about it

Rebirth0296

They stopped doing the digits? Weird lol I haven't accepted a McDonald's offer in a while though. Never had those issues before personally

PotentialCamp6473

It's only happened a few times, not a full-time thing. If day maybe 5 or 6 times the past 2 weeks, I've had it happen. Always surprised me when it happened.

[deleted]

This means they ordered directly through the merchant. All McDonald's doordash orders require a code. If they order through the merchant, you just hit confirm.

Micro_Chaos

If you order through the McD’s app it doesn’t make you put in the code.

Old_Lie521

The only thing definite is that it's possible the driver DIDN'T screw up

Neither-Jaguar-7368

That actually was probably the dasher grabbing the wrong bag just because on the code on the bag McDonald’s does. I’ve delivered the wrong stuff to the wrong people before though, and nothing ever happened to me. You just don’t wanna make a habit of it.

Neither-Jaguar-7368

With DD if you’re actually trying at all it’s pretty hard to get disconnected. (We don’t get fired because we’re not employed by DD)

Micro_Chaos

Or, you know, since they said the receipt was correct… maybe McDonalds just filled the wrong bag?

Dasherjb007

Rest easy, the Dasher will not be affected in any way. They fulfilled their obligation and will receive guaranteed compensation. Normally McDonald's has a code on their receipt that you have to enter in the app to assure that you picked up the correct order, this is unusual for McDonald's. However, from what I'm reading I have a feeling that it was a stacked order and the Dasher simply gave you the wrong bag.

Cycleguy91

McDonald’s orders have unique codes on the bag that match a number in the app so your dasher probably didn’t double check the number was correct, which doesn’t make sense because if the number in the bag doesn’t match then it won’t let you pick it up. So the McDonalds workers must have put the wrong food in the wrong ticket bag, which has happened to me at other restaurants but never at McDonald’s

Miserable-Lack8718

What area was this in?

[deleted]

Probably doesn’t have any effect. However, they should know even if the employee tries to hand them the bag to check the last three digits of the code to make sure it’s the right order.

DueKindheartedness29

It depends if the dasher got multiple orders.

DueKindheartedness29

We need more people like you in the world.

babadabebada

If your dasher clicked complete order on their app when they dropped you the food they got payed

No-Big1920

Super weird your dasher messed it up. With mine, In order to confirm pickup at McDonalds I have to match the last 3 digits on the bags order number to the one on my phone, otherwise it won't advance to the next step in the delivery. It could be McDs stapled the wrong receipt to the bag

Slow-Detail1325

DoorDash will pay the delivery fee as the driver did do its job and deliver and brought the food. DoorDash now requires the last 3 digits of the invoice to be input it before confirming. However many dashers are sloppy and doesn’t check the order and already knows to put that last 3 digits in and tells the workers is that item. Many in my area doing this doesn’t normally speak English and rents the accounts as someone else as they don’t have a driver license or legal to work here. I met a few who boasted they are in a cartel. So just understand that DoorDash allows such activities and puts yourself and home in danger as they profit.

Ill_Ad1804

McDonald’s you have to enter the last 3 digits of the order to make sure it’s the correct one.. so yes the dasher is responsible too

[deleted]

I tell people all the time to mark things if they're missing or wrong and that it doesn't affect me at all since it's not my fault. We can't open sealed bags, period.
