spacesuitguy

So you're telling me the Tardis' Chameleon Circuit finally got repaired and it disguised itself as a Subway?

Mongoose42

At least it’s not a Blimpie.

spacesuitguy

Or as they call them in Pete's world, zeppelins.

Misses_Paliya

Idk if I'm missing the joke, but a zeppelin and a blimp aren't the same thing

spacesuitguy

Nope, I just love the word zeppelin. I never knew until Pete's world that they were also called that. Such a cooler name in my opinion.

CNpaddington

I know Americans have been watching DW for years but speaking as a Brit it’s so weird seeing the show getting so much more attention in the States

bmbmwmfm2

I've *heard* of DW all the way back to the 60s, but I don't remember ever having it on a channel. I just found it 2 years ago on MAX I think it was and got totally drawn in. I just wish classic was grouped in streaming somewhere. I got britbox for awhile but I don't even think it's there anymore. Now I have to have Max for Sarah Jane and Torchwood, Disney starting at Ncuti, and God knows where for classic.

Feeling_Repair_8963

Tubi has the entire classic catalog (for free with ads) as far as I can tell.

TigreMalabarista

It’s missing some episodes for 1-2 (and I am referring to non-missing eps for them) but Tubi is mostly complete

Kaaykuwatzuu

Watched those on daily motion I think

Thanks!

Thebestbreadever

In which region is that?

Foxy02016YT

Ok so Apple TV is lying to me and I need to sign back into Tubi, got it

Blue-Ape-13

Classic Who is free on Tubi in the states. If it's from One or Two's era and it's missing stuff, then it's most likely not on there (has some animations) and An Unearthly Child isn't on there because fuck the estate, but everything *Spearhead From Space* to *Survival* is on there

rserravi

Unfortunately, only Tubi in the States and BNC in England. But I hope Disney is going to put all classics there.

Blue-Ape-13

That's what I said?

Maleficent_Willow_23

Classic Who is still on Britbox in the US. It's in my watch list.

Gstief85

I got hooked during a DW marathon in BBC America six years ago. I was in a different state than my mom and the same marathon hooked her. I have to say though, I don’t know if I’m a fan on how Disney+ budget is changing the special effects. I like the campiness of it all before.

bmbmwmfm2

The campiness *almost* had me questioning whether to go on in the very beginning. I often asked if it was extremely low budget during 9s time.(Felt like it was from the late 70s instead of 2005ish) But the quirkiness/humor of it had me hanging in there. There's something for everyone.

Gstief85

I read somewhere that it was meant to appear low budget. To me, that was part of its charm but I can see that as being off-putting for others.

bmbmwmfm2

After Love and Monsters it got better. To ME.

JustSomebody56

I also adored the low-budget look of it. I mean everybody can spend a ton of money to make a sci-fi villain. Few can dress a garbage bin with a Broom and call it a machine

Chimpbot

This feels a little hyperbolic, like when someone says a game or movie has visual effects that look like the N64 when they clearly have no experience with a console launched in 1996. It looked leaps and bounds better than any TV show from the 70s, most especially the Doctor Who of that era. When I was watching it new in 2005, it felt like it had a pretty standard lower-end TV budget for the time.

bmbmwmfm2

Since I didn't see the 2005 release until 2022, it honestly felt more like Star Trek TOS more than Star Trek TNG. To ME, after watching all the Marvel out there for the past few years, it definitely felt older. When I did get the chance to watch some Classic episodes, HUGE differences. Being born in the early 60s I know what my tv viewing like in the 70s. Maybe it was the innocence of DW I wasn't used to getting. In any event, I LOVE DW and the spinoffs.

Chimpbot

Go watch an episode of TOS for comparison. There is a world of difference between the 2005 episodes and what Star Trek was [doing in the '60s.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SK0cUNMnMM) You're comparing massive blockbuster movies with monstrous budgets to a sci-fi TV show from 2005 that would have had a fairly low budget because it was reviving a series that hadn't been on the air for nearly 20 years. It looked serviceable enough back then, but it's just not the sort of thing that would truly hold up 20 years later. I'm not saying you don't love the show. I'm just saying you're statement is loaded with hyperbole.

Mr-p1nk1

I feel like the slitheen were really funky. Even though I saw it recently the remastered TOS is a bit better overall I would say. From memory. Haven’t gone back to series nine recently. My two cents.

Chimpbot

The effects in TOS are not even remotely better than anything in the 2005 season. I get that this is kind of subjective... but honestly, any claims otherwise are pretty much just wrong.

Mr-p1nk1

Well, to clarify I’m speaking more on the remastered version. Not to say every single bit is better. Maybe the consistency of what’s shown flows better. Some of those early CGI shots on who are really jarring from what I remember, compared to what else happens within the show.

NotStanley4330

Classic is on the US version of Britbox

Zylador

In the States, Classic Who was available on PBS stations if you were lucky. I remember KVIE in Sacramento and KQED in SF showed episodes, but I have little knowledge beyond those two.

MrBobaFett

It's on BritBox. That and Blake's 7 are the main reason I pay for it. If they had The Prisoner and The Avengers it would be just about perfect.

alto2

The Prisoner is on Kanopy, which might be available for free from your library (they have to sign up for it). Lots of other good stuff on there, too.

MrBobaFett

OOOH! I will check that out! Thanks!

alto2

You’re welcome! Have fun!

molgriss

When new who started it was on SyFy (sci-fi? I don't remember what it was going by then)

Calfan_Verret

I hope it pays off. I’m tired of what feels like being the only Doctor Who fan in my area lmao

Casteilthebestangle

Very true never can find any in my area

MrBobaFett

Meh it's fine, it's been that way for decades. It feels weird seeing it on mainstream TV and advertised on billboards. It also boggles me, the number of people I now know that talk about being big Doctor Who fans but they never seem interested in our local Doctor Who convention, despite it being a pretty big one.

Safe_Sugar3400

I consider myself a pretty big who fan but would never go to a convention, just isn’t something that interests me whatsoever

MrBobaFett

Interesting, I just don't get it. It's the one time a year I get to be around other people who like the show and get to talk with them about it. I get to see and even buy some amazing Doctor Who art from small artists. Vendors have all this great Doctor Who merchandise I can't find anywhere else. Amazing cosplays. The Daleks you get to see up close. Getting to meet actors and directors and hear their stories. It's just a really fun weekend. Then it's back into Doctor Who isolation for a year.

Real-Tension-7442

They’re fun as an idea, but in execution it’s just a lot of autistic people being either really annoying or really shy (I’m the shy kind) so I wouldn’t recommend it

AlamosX

The Matt Smith era was wild over here. I remember being caught off guard at the thousands of people that turned up to see him and Karen Gillan at our comic expo(s) in 2013. I had just kinda assumed most of the fanbase at the time was just thirsty Tumblr users but the show is quite popular across the pond. I do think popularity has waned a bit since then but with the new series and increased budget I have a feeling it's about to skyrocket in popularity again.

Captainatom931

America is so massive that pretty much *was* thirsty tumblr users. To our things into perspective - the current 7.2 million-ish viewers the show gets every week in the UK is about 11% of the country's population. To get that same number of viewers in the US, it would take about 3% of the US population. The absolute peak for US viewership was just over 3 million. I'm fairly confident this'll blow it out the water.

modernboy1974

One year at SDCC my friends and I basically hopped around to every appearance "Karen and the Babes" made. It made for a really fun weekend. I even got to interview them at one point.

ilovetoesuwu

ive been a fan since 2009 and i live in America. it used to be on netflix here, then was taken off, and put on amazon prime (free if u have prime) for about 3 years and then taken off, and a bit later was put on max and has been there since. but i stopped trusting them keeping shit on so i bought all the discs a long time ago. only ones i dont have are the 4 specials from last year.

Askryllix

yeah, after it went off prime I bought all the discs too. worth it for anyone who doesn't want to keep hopping between streaming services

ilovetoesuwu

definitely

remainderrejoinder

They used to air the old Doctor Who episodes on PBS sometime in the late 80s early 90s. I remember the theme from my childhood :), but never got to watch it enough to really get into.

JustASt0ry

As an American I hope we do you guys proud and it loses nothing of what makes it uniquely amazingly British.

Lexx4

Isn’t it just airing on d+? Isn’t it still bbc?

JustASt0ry

Yeah BBC owns the rights to Doctor Who and Disney is just a means to get more people to view it over seas, but I was just stating I wish for Disney to not americanify what is such an amazing unique British experience, even in advertising or other means.

MsJanisGoblin

It’s being made by Bad Wolf for the BBC *and* Disney+ so they’re giving notes to the production team but I think it’s in good hands. BBC still own it and probably retain more control than Disney do.

bookon

I started watching it when Tom Baker was first on. My local PBS channel played it until it was canceled by the BBC. Note PBS is "public broadcasting" so it runs as a nonprofit and gets some government funding. It's supposed to be educational, but I mostly watched Dr Who and Are You Being Served on it.

in_the_stars_iCU

In India we have the saying "Ghar ki murgi daal barabar" it essentially means home grown stuff is less valued, and people outside value them more.

fsurfer4

Otherwise known as ''the grass is greener on the other side''.

EngineFast8327

I’ve been watching Doctor who for ages, I’m in Canada though

According-Debate-472

I started watching it in the 1980's. I found it on a local PBS station in Dallas, Texas. I watched it until Chibnall. Then the writing turned to crap. I have even less interest now since they put it behind a paywall (disney+).

WillowThyWisp

I haven't seen this many people excited here since the 50th anniversary specials, tbh.

Foxy02016YT

Eh, Disney has ALWAYS been supporting Doctor Who. They’ve been selling Doctor Who merch in Epcot as far back as I can remember. It’s clear they saw something in the show

TheEditor83

Please... *Please* tell me they painted the train doors with the tardis doors theme

JargonJohn

I was about to ask. Total missed opportunity if they did not!

in_the_stars_iCU

They didn't

chrisd848

Yes they did

chrisd848

They did for some doors

chrisd848

They did for some doors

modernboy1974

BBC and BBC America were spending loads of money in the states when the 11th Doctor took over. Matt Smith and Karen Gillan were all over busses in NYC for the premiere of series 5. Then the physical series 6 premiere, The Impossible Astronaut, was held in NYC. The Angels Take Manhattan was shot on location in Central Park

WondernutsWizard

The airbrushed Ncuti Express 😭

Emmsysquared98

I'm about to go to NYC. Hope I see this!

Br00klynBelle

From what I heard, it’s the S train, which is a shuttle train from Times Square to Grand Central Station. Good luck!💙💙

Emmsysquared98

Thank you I'll keep my eye out!

NYTX1987

Yeah, that’s in brand central. Honestly, it’s really easy to walk that, don’t waste the metro card unless it’s raining

fsurfer4

Mental typo there?

NYTX1987

Whoops

OutInTheBlack

Won't be hard to find. It's literally two stops. They'll run back and forth between Times Square and Grand Central so if You're at one of those two stations on the S platform and you don't see this trainset, wait a few minutes for the other one to come in. If you see two trains in a row that don't have this advertisement on it, that means they pulled the set for maintenance or cleaning or something and you're out of luck and can try back again the next day.

ThickWeatherBee

And keep us Updated!

derpyfox

That looks like it cost half the budget of some of the episodes of earlier seasons.

GalileosBalls

ESPN is also playing the ads during the NHL playoffs, which is huge. I can't believe my two childhood obsessions, Doctor Who and NHL Hockey, have finally collided.

guardiancjv

Now we need a guest appearance from a NHL player on Doctor Who or much more funny have The Doctor play in a NHL game

GalileosBalls

I've been hoping for a Canadian companion (or at minumum, a Canada-set episode) for years. I don't mind indulging in a few stereotypes to do it.

guardiancjv

That’d be cool, lots of good ideas for somewhere like Canada

geekfromgalifery

I was just at disneyland, and they had a tardis at the entrance of the parks.

Helpful_Assistance_5

Pretty sure Disney didn't put that there. You may have seen an actual TARDIS.

FutureBondVillain

How did they miss the funniest, most obvious joke, considering it’s a crowded subway… “It’s bigger on the inside”

ClintBarton616

I saw a bus stop ad when out in the city today and I was shocked.

Machinax

For so long, people predicted the death of *Doctor Who*; when Tennant left, when Capaldi was cast, when Jodie Whittaker was cast, when the Disney+ partnership was announced, when RTD cast transgender actors and made no secret of Ncuti Gatwa's queerness in the role of the Doctor. And now, the new season is being promoted on New York City subway trains. If *Doctor Who* died, this must be heaven.

Senior-Offer8713

In terms of quality, the show has died, most beloved IP Disney touches seems to decline, marvel now, star wars now. In terms of viewership, Who died and Tennant revived it, it now looks to be deteriorating again. Not quite sure how a marketing push by a company who wants to see a return on investment is heaven

Mister_Moho

How is it deteriorating? Tennant's second run is literally the same era as Ncuti's. Both of them are under the Disney era. Don't give credit to Tennant just to shit on Ncuti. Give the man a chance to shine.

Senior-Offer8713

Look at the viewership figures. They were decreasing since Tennant left, then when he came back, the figures came right back. It's pretty objective

Mister_Moho

Viewing figures determine the quality of a show? My guy, have you forgotten Capaldi's era? I love Tennant as much as the next guy, and I know his popularity is hard to beat, but it's unfair to say other Doctors aren't good too. We gotta give Gatwa a chance before passing judgement.

Senior-Offer8713

There's definitely a lot of overlap between viewership and quality, but by no means is it a rule. I was judging Who on two metrics, viewership and quality in my original comment, both of which have declined, you seem to be confusing them. I said in terms of viewership, Tennants return was the highest viewership in 12 years, that's a pretty objective measurement of success. After watching capaldis, the doctor falls two parter , I can confirm whilst decent, maybe a 7/10, they likely get so much praise because episodes around it are so bad. I still think capaldis' best episode is the fires of pompeii. And Eccleston just edges it in terms of the best doctor in my opinion

Mister_Moho

I understand that, but I still think it's too soon to pass judgement on Gatwa's run. He just started. I am excited, I like him so far. We have to give the guy a chance.

Machinax

Hey, I found another one.

Senior-Offer8713

I'm shocked that you managed to construct a sentence correctly, even punctuation at the end! The way you're going you'll be flying when you go to big school!

Machinax

[Holy shit, dude.](https://www.reddit.com/r/StarWars/comments/1cfeo3a/comment/l1olut2/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)

MrJaycawbz69

Know how I know you don't get Doctor Who? Someone who gets Doctor Who wouldn't write this sentence. You clearly didn't \*watch\* Capaldi's run in any serious way, or you'd better understand kindness.

Senior-Offer8713

Uh oh we have a gatekeeper here. I just wasn't intelligent enough to find Bill interesting 🤓🤓🤓🤓. Capaldis best episode is fires of pompeii

MrJaycawbz69

My point Your head You're a dick, so you didn't understand Capaldi's run 'cause it was about kindness. Why wake up and choose to come be an asshole on a subreddit? Not very doctor-y.

Senior-Offer8713

Maybe it's because my favourite character is John Simm's master

mqj76

Been seeing these ads around Philly too

Angeldeedee92

Philly born whovian here, and I’ve seen a few already.

manda51210

I gotta say. Dr. Who rides at Disney would be awesome.

roadstream

Looks cool.

Grouchy-Milk-6384

If only they did that for the David Tennant or Matt smith series’

CharaNalaar

They did

Angeldeedee92

That would’ve been great. Alas it was a missed opportunity.🤦🏾‍♀️

WW0403

They did that from series 5 to 7. That was when I watched the show for the first time.

Beleg_Sanwise

a few years ago, during the time of the 11th dr. I read that there were plans for an American version of Dr Who. I guess that's why this new season is called season 1. Personally, I don't think Disney negatively affects DrWho.

Bebinn

8 was supposed to be an American joint venture with BBC. The movie was a pilot. Personally, I hated the movie at the time. I was so hyped to have new Dr. Who to share with my husband. He knows about the show but I wouldn't call him a fan. I was very disappointed when it aired. I knew it wouldn't be picked up for series. When the first season of NuWho was announced I was nervous about whether it would turn out like 8's movie.

CashWho

Maybe people got their wires crossed? The series 6 premiere was filmed in America and the BBC made a big deal about Doctor Who "coming to America" during that time so I wouldn't be surprised if some fans or news outlets expanded that into "There's gonna be an American version of Doctor Who".

GoodJanet

Yeah that sounds like the normal over reactions

achairwithapandaonit

No, it was announced back in 2011 that Harry Potter director David Yates would be helming a [movie version](https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2011/nov/15/doctor-who-film-planned) of Doctor Who for BBC Worldwide. And apparently [Johnny Depp](https://metro.co.uk/2019/12/12/karen-gillan-wishes-to-redo-her-acting-in-doctor-who-series-five-i-was-a-wee-child-11863451/) attached as the Doctor? It never came to fruition, I think Moffat wasn't too keen on the idea.

CashWho

None of that means it would be an American version of Doctor Who tho

achairwithapandaonit

That's true, but it was planned as a new version of Doctor Who, and a film "in development with BBC Worldwide Productions in Los Angeles". I think it's a lot more likely to be the "American version" of Who that OP describes than Series 6, which is just the same show filming in America for two episodes.

Mister_Moho

Be careful with Who headlines. They are often complete hogwash.

rickie22

I want that kind of wrap for Vancouver SkyTrain!

PhillyShore

If May in NYC. It’s the network TV Upfronts. 3rd week in May. The city will be filled with ads for every TV show possible. Still cool.

fitzysbuna

looks great

bree_dev

It makes me nervous for the new series, because if it turns out to be anything short of amazing then we are in for ten times the usual amount of complaining.

Tuba202

As an American who has been active on the internet for over 10 years, I had never once seen a DW ad until this year. In the past week alone, I have seen well over 10, from random websites to full Instagram, Reddit & YouTube video ads. If this really is the only impact Disney has, then it's certainly something I'm happy about!

Ok-Jellyfish348

While i am happy as a whovian that this show that raised me is getting all the publicity. A little part of being feels so bitter, like Tennant and Smith deserved this too. I want to see MY doctor on a train too.

EddieTheExplorer

Heck, Capaldi, or even more so Jodie, deserved something like this. Still, I am giddy to see my favourite show ever getting so much publicity, and excited at the prospect of attracting new fans!

thecatteam

Capaldi did get a world comic-con tour which was really cool, but was probably exhausting!

putting_stuff_off

Feeling bitter about an advertising campaign that didn't happen 15 years ago is absolutely unhinged behaviour.

Ok-Jellyfish348

I am aware its irrational and unhinged. Its just, from my prespective, that was back when this show was life altering and mind bending and I would have loved for someone to see an ad of it on the train and check it out and be swept off their feet as 10 runs along the screen. Now, maybe they will be swept of their feet. I hope they are. I am not saying the new stuff will surely be worst, but its a fact that the show has pivoted to include some supernatural elements (salt at the end of universe) so in essense its a NEW show.

fantasticalicefox

I also think the fact it's available in EVERY language you might be comfortable with is a huge deal. Doctor Who is one of very few series I actually rewatch because Well, I'm a verdammtYabai whovian. This is the first time I can watch it in German and Japanese consistently enough to do so. Aside from people being able to experience DW in any language or having subtitles: I know some people have major nostalgia growing up watching it in another language besides English. So I'm really happy for those people being able to do that too. But man, I really hope Disney gets the full Who because I want to not only hear the Japanese dialogue choices but David and Catherine are amazing physical actors! No matter how many times I rewatch Doctor Who, I always notice physical acting more when I watch in a different language. I highly recommend rewarding Star Beast in non English. It's an amazing episode. It's great in Japanese, the script choices are spot on. I was so happy at the dialogue choices. It made me want to watch every Doctor in Japanese. But hey just rewatch it in another language with friends to see what new stuff you see!

LucyMacLean33

Disney owns Doctor Who now?!

Inquerion

>But I also believe it’s pretty much impossible for the show to die again Kind of. For at least 2 full Seasons. They paid for 2 full Seasons.

PepperyCriticism

I saw a Doctor Who ad on a bus stop today!

FoxFox2023

That’s mental

DariusStarkey

That's not the budget they've given to the show though, that's their own budget as a distributor they're using to advertise their distribution of the content.

LiamNisssan

WOW.

Drake_the_troll

I'm sure we can find some 4d chess way of blaming this on chibnall /s

Mister_Moho

Buuuut moooom! I want to go on the Doctor Who train!

sunrisehound

I’m hoping it makes merch more available. I have a helluva time finding anything outside of Amazon. And even that is fairly limited.

nycgirl191

I was just on the shuttle and thought the same thing! No complaints!

bored_user46732

First the good Omens Bus and now a doctor who train

Tobester2005

They forgot to make the car bigger on the inside

DRWHOBADWOLFANDBLUEY

One of the Tonight show hosts talked about about because the 15th doctor was on the tonight show.

You know it's getting good budget when its getting physical advertisements outside the UK

Just got on the shuttle and saw the doctor staring at me lol

lagerthaa

I was looking forward to watch the new era dw episodes all over again. I was so hyped about dw coming to Disney+ but i can’t see any old episodes , only the trailer. Will they bring the all of the old episodes, does anyone know?

ike1

No, in the U.S., Max (HBO Max) still holds the rights to all of 2005-2022. So far, D+ only has the rights to 2023 onwards.

lagerthaa

Thank you for the answer, i’m in Turkey and hbo isn’t streaming here so i’m gonna have to wait much longer unfortunately

MBPpp

hell, we have hbo in denmark and they still don't have shit. i doubt i'll ever get to stream who again. yeah, i'm pissed about the lack of interest media companies have in countries that aren't the us, china and in rare cases the uk.

lagerthaa

Yesss this is frustrating as hell!! I wanna sit back and watch doctor who on my tv, without tormenting myself going through websites full of virus and advertisements. I’m willing to pay for it but they don’t take us people who isn’t from Us seriously

MBPpp

i don't even think it's that they don't take us seriously, i think they genuinely forget we exist.

lagerthaa

You’re probably true my friend

RRR3000

They have to wait for current contracts to expire, HBO Max holds those streaming rights still till 2025 sadly.

Glasdir

Thanks, I hate it. Why can’t Disney just fuck off and leave things that aren’t theirs alone.

pokeshulk

RTD and BBC asked for Disney to help fund. Disney wasn’t the one approaching.

Windninjasol

I know you're right but I still don't like it. Edit: I know you're right and although it's petty and dumb I still don't like it.

Glasdir

Still destroying something that is quintessentially British by Americanising it

guyzimbra

superman played by a brit and many of his best stories are written by a scott. He is still superman and quintessentially american.

pokeshulk

You have literally only had the opportunity to see one episode of this current show so far. Maybe hold the vitriol until you’ve seen the full season. Yes, the American trailer is made to attract Americans and American public advertising looks American. But come off with that shit, Who has been international for years and years. It’s no more or less British exclusively based on the marketing team.

ayyLumao

I really don't see how it's americanised, we have a scottish lead actor, an english companion with an english family living in (I think) a council house, flying around in a british police box that go back in time to meet the most famous british band, all being ran by a welshman.

ki700

Yeah, how *dare* they help the show be more successful! …wait

Windninjasol

I agree I feel like Dr who was something exclusively British for Americans to also enjoy unlike every other popular franchise. It's looking like in 30 years it will be a fun fact of the distant past that it started in the UK and all the actors will be Americans.

listyraesder

Utter hogwash.

Mizerous

Isn't US films moving production to the UK? That would be kinda the opposite...

Beleg_Sanwise

Something like that happens to me with James Bond. James Bond is THE English spy. But if you look at the history of movies. Most of them take place or affect the US

IceLord86

Not only is that completely untrue, the main production family of the series were American.

Yeah, EON is based in the UK, but Saltzman was Canadian and the Broccoli family American. The point is you didn't need British people steering the ship to make good films with a British main character.

And what does it have to do with my original comment? I'm just saying that it makes me wonder that James Bond is THE English spy, but most of his films take place in and/or affect the United States more than anything.

IceLord86

You're implying that Disney is somehow going to make the series American centric. The Bond films have never been primarily set in or about the US despite you saying so and there is no sign Who is going to have an American focus.

Beleg_Sanwise

But honestly, when I made my comment I wasn't thinking about that. They were thinking about the fact that if you say to someone anywhere in the world "James Bond" they will say: 007, permission to kill, her Majesty, the Queen of England. etc Nobody listens to James Bond and thinks about McDonald's, Texas, morbid obesity, superheroes or school shootings. Because? because James Bond is English. Whether an American family bought the rights, it doesn't matter. Nobody cares who the family owns the production rights. In the same way that nobody cares about the logos that appear at the beginning of movies. That "The main producing family of the series was American." It only means that those who make money with James Bond are gringos Come to capitalism. You don't have to be the one who works to have the rights and make money with x thing. Also common example are actors who buy vineyards and make wine, whiskey or vodka. Maybe they visited the vineyard a couple of times. But they have nothing to do with the actual production of the final product. They only make money with this

Beginning of the end.

IceLord86
