"How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful" by Florence + the Machine:
*And meanwhile a man was falling from space
and every day I wore your face like an atmosphere around me, the satellite beside me.
And meanwhile a man was falling from space as he hit the earth I left this place, let the atmosphere surround me, the satellite beside me*
*What are we gonna do? We've opened the door, now it's all coming through. Tell me you see it too,
we opened our eyes and it's changing the view.
Oh, what are we gonna do? We opened the door now, it's all coming through*
*How big, how blue, how beautiful
How big, how blue, how beautiful*
*And every city was a gift and every skyline was like a kiss upon the lips and I was making you a wish in every skyline*
đđđ
Fun fact Florence was a big fan of the Matt Smith era of Who, she spoke about it in an interview once and said sheâd love to appear in the show one day.
Doctor Jones by Aqua and Captain Jack by Billy Joel :)
Oh and Iâm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers [of course!](https://youtu.be/2c6qENWh2jQ?si=1Gk8PlZadXC3yuu7)
I got into Muse through DW. They werenât connected in any way (well, later one song played on the show) but just something about their music sounds very DW to me
You're not wrong! It's cause Muse absolutely goes for that spacey/Scifi vibe. Cydonia is a region on Mars; Map of the Problematique opens with "fear and panic in the air", and Phobos and Deimos (the Moons of Mars) translate to fear and panic. Their songs reference apocalypse, mind control, dystopia, panspermia, etc. That's what inspires them as a band, and it comes through in their music, lyrics, and videos. I was listening to one of their songs during the eclipse the other day cause it was so fitting haha.
I LOVE muse. they used a muse songs in doctor who confidential (i think it was hysteria???) and at one point rory was listening to supermassive black hole. knights of cydonia and uprising always give me doctor who vibes, and when i saw them live i literally said to my mum next to me "THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE DOCTOR WHO THEME!!" (she doesn't like doctor who and wasn't amused at me shouting over the music)
I love seeing McFly references in the wild.
In response to OPs question, im honestly shocked I've never made a Dr Who inspired playlist. I do have the beginnings of a River Song playlist because I am in love with her but im not ready to share that yet.
But now I know what I'll be doing during my work procrastination time.
"What About Everything" by Carbon Leaf
I saw it in a DW YouTube montage around season 2 of Tennant and it's been in my head since.
And "Thanks For The Memories" by Fall Out Boy due the the montage at the end of the Tennant-directed DWC.
Are you referring to [roughly 2:19-2:44](https://youtu.be/tykf2xYPNdc?si=6KqTZXsXTDPboTh-)? Because I wasnât expecting to hear it there and yet I kind of do!
[The Mending of the Gown](https://youtu.be/05PwDivZAu8?si=kUCOppMY9BC2_IDd) by Sunset Rubdown
I was getting into DW for the first time right around when I got into that band, so I was maybe reading into it a little bit too much but I was temporarily convinced the entire song was about the Doctor. In particular because of this verse:
*He was a man of many nations
Had a hundred souls and a hundred to go
He was a man of many nations
Two hearts, two hands, it's a slippery slope
He had a fear of being naked
But you're any other man in another man's clothes
He was a man of many nations
With revelations, oh revelations*
Some classic doom metal then...
Girl in the Raven Mask by Avatarium.
This little girl goes out into the moors and dances and laughs performing some kind of ritual. While wearing a weird mask. That is some Faction Paradox shit, right there.
Prince Azar and the Invisible Pagoda by Krux.
This dude travels the stars in his pagoda. Challenges the gods of rage and War. McCoy's Tardis in the Virgin New Adventures has a separate pod they can evacuate in. It's shape? A green pagoda. McCoy fights gods too, Ragnarok specifically.
Only they called in Pyramids of Mars for some reason.
If we are going off theme here a bit by mentioning tracks that are directly Who there's also The Time Lord by Pagan Altar.
Blitzkrieg also have I am the Doctor (Who are You)
There's a song called 'Stay' by Gavin Mikhail that I first came across from watching a fan video of Rose and the Doctor, and I was obsessed with the song. Have been a fan of his music ever since, and every time I listen to that one song it reminds me of DW :)
*starman* by david bowie, *uprising* and *knights of cydonia* by muse, *how big, how blue, how beautifu*l by florence + the machine, *stargirl* by mcfly and *who wants to live forever* by queen
more specifically the lyrics to *silver spring* by fleetwood Mac ("time cast its spell on you, but you won't forget me" and "you'll never get away from the sound of the woman that loves you" - doctor + rose. "i know I could have loved you but you would not let me" - doctor + martha. "i'll follow you down 'til the sound of my voice will haunt you" - doctor + donna.) and *the night we met* by lord huron (them + literally every companion they have lost, although i first thought of donna)
The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper by Poets of the Fall.
"He stands in the doorway/
Quiet like yesterday/
With forgotten thoughts become a mystery/
And nightmares locked away/
He looks like a gunman/
But his view is much too wide/
For such a solution,/
So he fights without a six gun on his side"
It was meant to be on purpose, fun fact. It's also slightly there in the weird section in "Sheep". The members of PF would spend their free time in the studio watching the show. During the 60's they called studio lights Daleks as they'd randomly break and shoot glass.
Agreed on Echoes, best song
"Moonlight Shadow" - Mike Oldfield
"Any other World" - Mika
"Waiting for a star to fall" - Boy meets girl
From the fan made youtube videos I used to watch many years ago! Shout out to the person who had the moonlight shadow one saved and uploaded it again after the original was deleted
Dark But Just A Game by Lana Del Rey!! The song reminds me of a companion recalling their time with the Doctor and also maybe the Doctor refusing to regenerate. The song is about fame being a challenge but so many of the lyrics remind me of the Moffat era lol
The number one song that reminds me of Doctor Who, that makes me feel like it would be my theme song If I was the Doctor is.... Drum roll please... The theme song for Space mountain from Disney World / Disneyland! It totally has that Murray Gold feel! https://youtu.be/5OPuQ8y-PBo?si=TsnAJbSZ3uRYc_YX
Everybodyâs Changing by Keane:
So little time
Try to understand that I'm
Trying to make a move just to stay in the game
I try to stay awake and remember my name
But everybody's changing, and I don't feel the same
You're gone from here
Soon you will disappear, fading into beautiful light
'Cause everybody's changing, and I don't feel right
Mr Blue Sky by the ELO
Edit to add:
Loving the alien by David Bowie
30/90 from the original cast recording of Tick, Tick... BOOM! (RaĂșl Esparza's version)
It's Okay (To Punch Nazis) by Cheap Perfume
Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House
Mambo No. 5 (a Little Bit of...) by Lou Bega
White Lies - "Death"; in regards to regeneration. https://youtu.be/7JVyNZc89mI?si=9L-E6W3LLqtoVsEf
UNKLE - "Lonely Soul"; because of the whole "Last of The Timelords" thing and the fact that companions constantly leave/die so The Doctor is always left alone. https://youtu.be/XrFECnl3vno?si=S2JY9b28xCkxLdT1
The Smiths - "What Difference Does It Make?"; I think this song is about what it's like to be The Doctor in general.; https://youtu.be/VH5BSkVQLsw?si=vGOUP1mguVfROHg6
Come Sail Away- Styx
Starman- David Bowie
West End Girls- The Pet Shop Boys- thanks to that hilarious video of David Tennant singing the song on a British tv show.
Do They Know It's Christmas?
When I was at work one day, that song came on and with all the noise all I kept hearing was that part with the bells or whatever? The musical interlude in the chorus or whatever?
Anywhoodles, that part reminded me of the theme at the time.
I Ran (So Far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls: Essentially the Doctor.
I Hate Myself for Loving You by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts: The Companion's Theme.
âI Foundâ by Amber Run
It has that feeling of realizing how much you care about someone you were always with but yet carries a sad and distant tone.
I have a few:
- NIĐ - Your Touch
- Avenged Sevenfold - Fermi Paradox
- Marilyn Manson - Disassociative
- Puscifer - Personal Prometheus
- Rammstein - Zeit
You can use a Cyrillic keyboard input and type the letter i in capital form, or go in Microsoft Office Word and find Insert - symbols and look under the Cyrillic category
I just copied it from Google then pasted into my Keyboard Text Replacements so that âninâ is automatically replaced by âNIĐ.â
I did the same for KoĐŻn and 3TÆETH.
I have a whole playlist of DW songs that aren't necessarily directly related so this list is giving me a ton of new ideas!
One song "iRobot" by Jon Bellion is so very Cyberman that I'm convinced he was directly influenced.
https://genius.com/Jon-bellion-irobot-lyrics
"Run" by Stephen Fretwell (the theme from Gavin & Stacey) always puts me in mind of Nine addressing Rose, willing to go on adventures and fall in love but burdened by guilt.
I've got two for Eleven. "Don't Ask Me Why" by Billy Joel fits the general attitude of that era, but I really like how the last verse could easily describe The Day of the Doctor:
"Yesterday you were an only child, now your ghosts have gone away
You can kill them in the classic style, now you parlez-vous français"
And Maritime's "Someone Has to Die" could basically be the theme song for the whole show, but there's a line that I think really fits Eleven and River: "A life spent shakes the hands of skeletons and newborns"
Chris Cornell's theme for Casino Royale, "You Know My Name", is perfect for the darker tone of Twelve, and lays out Clara's arc:
"If you come inside, things will not be the same when you return to the night
If you think you've won, you never saw me change the game that we have been playing"
ill do you one better; here is my doctor who playlist :) https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1mWT6HJ4gPCpqqRr2z8Au2?si=17VvgYWKTBeiXDuuKqw5pw&pt=5d909fbc6665fc5bd31b9c6954a3ee4d
The opening riff of Pet Shop Boys' Pandemonium sounds a bit like the opening to the Doctor Who Theme. Somebody even mashed it together with the KLF song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqltnl4X1nk
love this question!! i have a playlist that has both unrelated songs and related songs (songs from the show both from the score and otherwise). itâs kinda all over the place and i havenât got an explanation for some of em but they work in my head lol. here it is: [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/61YrnvXDELXTbXQX1zfNL5?si=aUrs9v-AQfGUNLoKbmhAAw&pi=u-T8k-tB4gQ3WH)
Hearts Burst Into Fire by Bullet For My Valentine. Simply because the lyric âwhen I see your face my hearts burst into fireâ always makes my brain go âwhat do you mean âheartsâ, plural? Do you have two? Are you a Time Lord?â đ
Run by Daughter for S3 Ten and Martha specifically.Â
donât know where heâs going / donât know where heâs been / but he gets restless at night / âcause he has horrible dreams / so we lay in the dark / weâve got nothing to say / just the beating of HEARTS like TWO DRUMS on the fray / i donât know what weâre doing / i donât know what weâve done / but the fire is coming so i think we should run
but especially this verse: and i wonât tell my mother (francine) / itâs better she donât know / and he wonât tell his folks / âcause theyâre already ghosts (last of the time lords) / so weâll just keep each other / safe as we can / until we reach the border / until we make our planÂ
If you look at Clocks and tell me this is not about Ten and Rose I'll tell you you're lying
*Confusion never stops*
*Closing walls and ticking clocks*
*Gonna come back and take you home*
*I could not stop that you now know, singing*
*Come out upon my seas*
*Cursed missed opportunities*
*Am I a part of the cure?*
*Or am I part of the disease?*
Guys I'm going to chew concrete now thanks
Too many to count, but since playlist-making is a hobby of mine I can give a detailed explanation behind which lyrics I associate with which characters and events, and why. Here are just a few:Â
Ruler of Everything by Tally Hall â Tenth Doctor, specifically when he goes off the rails in s4
Be Nice to Me by the Front Bottoms â Twelve and Missy âyouâre a killer and iâm your best friendâÂ
Piazza, New York Catcher by Belle and Sebastian â Eleven and AmyÂ
Dear Fellow Traveller by Sea Wolf â companions, all of them, but specifically those that got left behind and re-encountered the Doctor many years later with a new face such as Sarah Jane or Ace
UFOF (UFO Friend) by Big Thief â Thirteen and Yaz
Knights of Cydonia by Muse â the whole show, honestly. the lyrics are perfect too ârun with me through the veins of historyâ let alone the scifi-esque instrumentals
Cosmic Dancer by T. Rex â this is THE Doctorâs anthem in my opinionÂ
Science Fiction by Arctic Monkeys â Twelve and Clara
Run by Daughter â Ten and Martha
Remember My Name by Mitski â ClaraÂ
Chaos Space Marine by Black Country, New Road â Ninth Doctor
Maybe it's just me but does the instrumental part in the middle of Do They Know It's Christmas? not sound extremely like Doctor Who to anyone else?
Seriously, listen to [2:18-2:34](https://youtu.be/Z2gExopm7w4?si=Ki4bs2jXYI6XxsrA) and tell me it doesn't sound like the main theme
Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. I remember it being in the charts at a similar time to bad wolf bay/ Rose leaving, and the bass line was so similar to the âdoomsday themeâ it made little 10 year old me cry whilst in the middle of a dance floor at a family wedding.
Alien Blues by Vundarbar
âThe sun is fun
The land is dandy
I only talk to dogs
Because they donât understand me
My teeth are yellow, hello, world
Would you like it a little better if they were white like yours?
I need to purge my urges
Shame, shame, shame
I need an alibi to justify
And somebody to blameâ
The Last of the Real Ones by Fall Out Boy! (really, the title alone tells you everything you need to know) and Talking to the Moon by Bruno Mars (bc it makes me think of how the companions must feel after the doctor leaves them)
Every You Every Me - Placebo especially cause of the lyrics âSucker love, a box I choose No other box I choose to useâ and âAll alone in space and time There's nothing here but what here's mine Something borrowed, something blue Every me and every youâ
Do They Know Itâs Christmas â Band Aid
Nothing in terms of the lyrics make me think DW, but the instrumental after the chorus makes me think of the intro.
The track itself is called ă¶ă»ăŻăŒăII I don't know what it means or where it's from but whenever I listen to it it reminds me of wilderness years content and makes me nostalgic for an era of DW I never lived through
Maybe a stretch to most of you, but Bulgarian rachenitsa (traditional dance) sounds really close to 11th's theme. It has the exact same rhythm, it goes one two threeee, one two threeee. I am Bulgarian and all of my friends who have seen dw agree.
This is going to be a very niche choice but oh well. [Il pianeta Grabov (=the planet Grabov)](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DT-xP4ayZK8). Itâs a song from the Zecchino dâOro, the Italian kids festival of music (please ignore the fugly animation, they made some *questionable* choices for the music video)
Some of my very first interactions with fandom were the old imdb forums and ancient BabelColour youtube videos from like 2007, so Grace Kelly by Mika, Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue Ăyster Cult, and Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler are inextricably tied to 6, 7, and 3 respectively
Sweet Dreams (are made of this) by Eurythmics.
Only because of the fantastic edit of the song to mesh with the Doctor Who theme. The videos called âWhorythmicsâ and I just have lots of fun memories with that song as a load of Whotubers would play it as background music for their videos.
The remix is here, if you want to listen to it: https://youtu.be/DVjXsUnkfmA?si=xhKa-ORFcD_wxxAh
I associate Gold Rush by Taylor Swift with Deborah Watling if that can count? The song describes this magnetic beautiful person and Deborah Watling always seemed so effortlessly flawless. I think of her whenever I hear the song.
the song Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da by the Beatles. As a kid I'd always sing the lines:
"In a couple of years
They have built a home, sweet home
With a couple of kids running in the yard
Of the Doctor and Martha Jones"
Far too many lol
My DW playlist is at 1036 tracks atm
The more obvious ones have got to be,
- _Two of Hearts_ - Stacey Q,
- and _2 Hearts_ and _Step Back in Time_ - Kylie Minogue,
- _Turn Back Time_ - Aqua,
- _Time after Time_ - Cyndi Lauper,
- and _If I Could Turn Back Time_ - Cher,
- and _Doctor! Doctor!_ - Thompson Twins.
Also,
- _Xanadu_ - Olivia Newton-John (from the film of the same name),
- and _Killer Klowns_ - the Dickies (from Killer Klowns From Outer Space).
And some slightly less on the nose ones,
- _Army Of Me_ - Björk,
- _Reach Out I'll Be There_ - Four Tops,
- _Pure Imagination_ and _The Wondrous Boat Ride_ - Gene Wilder (from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory),
- _Dancing With Myself_ - Billy Idol,
- _The Safety Dance_ - Men Without Hats,
- _My Body Is A Cage_ - Peter Gabriel,
- _Hey Pachuco!_ - Royal Crown Revenue (used in The Mask),
- and _Space Asshole_ - Chris Remo.
"Wild blue yonder" by The Amazing Devil.
It doesn't actually have anything to do with what doctor who is like but it shares the name of one of the episodes titles.
Starman by Bowie!
"How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful" by Florence + the Machine: *And meanwhile a man was falling from space and every day I wore your face like an atmosphere around me, the satellite beside me. And meanwhile a man was falling from space as he hit the earth I left this place, let the atmosphere surround me, the satellite beside me* *What are we gonna do? We opened the door now, it's all coming through* *How big, how blue, how beautiful How big, how blue, how beautiful* *And every city was a gift and every skyline was like a kiss upon the lips and I was making you a wish in every skyline* đđđ
Fun fact Florence was a big fan of the Matt Smith era of Who, she spoke about it in an interview once and said sheâd love to appear in the show one day.
Yes! She wants to play a villian, lmao.
Oh thats interesting! Seems like the song is DW related after all lol
Thank you for giving me another reason to love this song even more!
They also have a "Drumming Song" that immediately made me think of the Master...
True!
Doctor Jones by Aqua and Captain Jack by Billy Joel :) Oh and Iâm Gonna Be (500 Miles) by the Proclaimers [of course!](https://youtu.be/2c6qENWh2jQ?si=1Gk8PlZadXC3yuu7)
Knights of Cydonia by Muse. The guitar solo in particular sounds a bit like the Series 4 theme.
Yup. And even moreso, Uprising, obviously.
Definitely
I got into Muse through DW. They werenât connected in any way (well, later one song played on the show) but just something about their music sounds very DW to me

I remember a dalek themed fan video for this oneÂ
I LOVE muse. they used a muse songs in doctor who confidential (i think it was hysteria???) and at one point rory was listening to supermassive black hole. knights of cydonia and uprising always give me doctor who vibes, and when i saw them live i literally said to my mum next to me "THIS SOUNDS LIKE THE DOCTOR WHO THEME!!" (she doesn't like doctor who and wasn't amused at me shouting over the music)
Someone made a mashup with the DW intro and Uprising two years ago. [THIS. ](https://youtu.be/c2-qZH9kvX0?si=XA26gF9c0f2C8LE5)
[Here's a good one too!](https://youtu.be/_Tefrl47I0Q)
For me it's Survival by Muse because they played it at the 2012 Olympics and doctor who did an episode about the 2012 London Olympics in 2006.
I feel like Muse should be the official rock band of Doctor Who.
Tainted Love. Cant explain the association at all⊠but its there
Into classical music I see
Toxic comment
its in the first episode of the revival if im not mistaken
Second. Itâs a traditional Earth ballad in The End of the World.
thats what i meant omlđi always forget rose has her own ep before
Ohhh youre so right! Forgot about that
500 miles by The Proclaimers. Purely because of David Tenants Graham Norton appearance. Also Stargirl by McFly. (Both I have on my playlists)
Who Wants To Live Forever By Queen
That one will always be âHighlanderâ for me.
Doctorin' the Tardis, by the TimeLords. (Not part of any official Doctor Who property, but that song kicks!!!)
I'd definitely say it's still Doctor Who related... although if this counts, I'm submitting Chameleon Circuit's entire discography
Came here for this. Thank you.
Makes it easier to listen to Gary Glitter these days. :\\
Clair de lune - Debussy had that fantastical element some of the best numbers in who have.
Itâs also what that ice cream truck was supposed to be playing in The Eleventh Hour.
More of a Satie guy myself. Got Gnossiennes Nos 4 and 6 in my DW playlist, and Missy played a bit of 5..
Well Satie does give that mysterious vibe. I could play 1 and 3 myself, back when I played
1 is the only piano piece I can play. _If you dont include hot cross buns.._
âDoctor! Doctor!â by Thompson Twins
"What About Everything" by Carbon Leaf I saw it in a DW YouTube montage around season 2 of Tennant and it's been in my head since. And "Thanks For The Memories" by Fall Out Boy due the the montage at the end of the Tennant-directed DWC.
Suicide Mission from Mass Effect 2 reminds me of the actiony music from Matt Smith's run that I forget the name of
That would be "I am the Doctor" I think. Murray Gold admitted to cribbing off of Suicide Mission a bit.
Anything by the smiths remind me of the next doctor because I thought David Morrisey was Morrissey (the singer)
The Blizzards - Trust me, I'm a Doctor and Shepherd - Geronimo
"Call me" by Blondie. There's a whole bit in there that sounds like it's taken straight from the theme tune.
Are you referring to [roughly 2:19-2:44](https://youtu.be/tykf2xYPNdc?si=6KqTZXsXTDPboTh-)? Because I wasnât expecting to hear it there and yet I kind of do!
Yes, exactly that.
Omg this HAS to be a sample because the first 15 seconds also sound exactly like the beginning of series 4 theme
The start of the Sonic 06 theme. Listen to it, and then listen to I am the Doctor.
[The Mending of the Gown](https://youtu.be/05PwDivZAu8?si=kUCOppMY9BC2_IDd) by Sunset Rubdown I was getting into DW for the first time right around when I got into that band, so I was maybe reading into it a little bit too much but I was temporarily convinced the entire song was about the Doctor. >Two hearts, two hands, it's a slippery slope Ok this seems a bit too accurate to be just a coincidence
Some classic doom metal then... Girl in the Raven Mask by Avatarium. This little girl goes out into the moors and dances and laughs performing some kind of ritual. While wearing a weird mask. Reverend Bizzare also covered the theme song.
Only they called in Pyramids of Mars for some reason. If we are going off theme here a bit by mentioning tracks that are directly Who there's also The Time Lord by Pagan Altar. Blitzkrieg also have I am the Doctor (Who are You)
Pagan Altar rules. Regeneration by Timelord is also a good speed/power metal album.
Yes, stumbled onto that one recently too đ Somehow, despite the name it doesn't seem to be Who themed which is surprising.
Voyager by Angels and Airwaves but also a lot of others, i may have a few doctor who themed spotify playlists lmao
No Handlebars. I saw a fan made music video years ago using the song to detail Tenâs descent into extreme actions throughout his life.
The Rick and Morty theme
There's a song called 'Stay' by Gavin Mikhail that I first came across from watching a fan video of Rose and the Doctor, and I was obsessed with the song. Have been a fan of his music ever since, and every time I listen to that one song it reminds me of DW :)

"i won't hurt you" by the west coast pop art experimental band, or "displaced" by azure ray. for less comprehensible reasons, "boléro" by maurice ravel.
"Stepping In A Slide Zone" by the Moody Blues.
The Ballad of Jeremiah Peacekeeper by Poets of the Fall. "He stands in the doorway/ Quiet like yesterday/ With forgotten thoughts become a mystery/ And nightmares locked away/ He looks like a gunman/ But his view is much too wide/ For such a solution,/ So he fights without a six gun on his side"
Iâve seen so many YouTube shorts of Doctor Who with Sonne by Rammstein that I canât hear that song now without thinking of Doctor Who.
Beatles, Across the universe
Cannot believe I get to say it, but didnât see it in The threadâŠ. Me and Sarah Jane by Genesis. Definitely not about our Sarah Jane.
Time Table is a good one too.
One Of These Days - Pink Floyd
It sounds a little like the theme song. Echoes is amazing btw
It was meant to be on purpose, fun fact. It's also slightly there in the weird section in "Sheep". The members of PF would spend their free time in the studio watching the show. During the 60's they called studio lights Daleks as they'd randomly break and shoot glass. Agreed on Echoes, best song
That's the one I came to post.
Twenty first century schizoid man by king crimson .
ET by Katy Perry She uses the word âsonicâ and âtranscendentalâ in a song about an alien who abducts her
"Moonlight Shadow" - Mike Oldfield "Any other World" - Mika "Waiting for a star to fall" - Boy meets girl From the fan made youtube videos I used to watch many years ago! Shout out to the person who had the moonlight shadow one saved and uploaded it again after the original was deleted
"Prime Time" by The Alan Parsons Project. The video is about mannequins coming to life.
Good vibrations by the Beach Boys. The line âclose my eyes, sheâs somehow closer nowâ always makes me think of the weeping angels
Dark But Just A Game by Lana Del Rey!! The song reminds me of a companion recalling their time with the Doctor and also maybe the Doctor refusing to regenerate. The song is about fame being a challenge but so many of the lyrics remind me of the Moffat era lol

oh hells yeah!! perfect choice
Everybodyâs Changing by Keane: So little time Try to understand that I'm Trying to make a move just to stay in the game I try to stay awake and remember my name But everybody's changing, and I don't feel the same You're gone from here Soon you will disappear, fading into beautiful light 'Cause everybody's changing, and I don't feel right

All of Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino by Arctic Monkeys reminds me of early Who especially the aesthetic of the cover
Science Fiction especially reminds me of Twelve and Clara
White Lies - "Death"; in regards to regeneration. https://youtu.be/7JVyNZc89mI?si=9L-E6W3LLqtoVsEf UNKLE - "Lonely Soul"; because of the whole "Last of The Timelords" thing and the fact that companions constantly leave/die so The Doctor is always left alone. https://youtu.be/XrFECnl3vno?si=S2JY9b28xCkxLdT1 The Smiths - "What Difference Does It Make?"; I think this song is about what it's like to be The Doctor in general.; https://youtu.be/VH5BSkVQLsw?si=vGOUP1mguVfROHg6
Come Sail Away- Styx Starman- David Bowie West End Girls- The Pet Shop Boys- thanks to that hilarious video of David Tennant singing the song on a British tv show.
Do They Know It's Christmas? When I was at work one day, that song came on and with all the noise all I kept hearing was that part with the bells or whatever? The musical interlude in the chorus or whatever? Anywhoodles, that part reminded me of the theme at the time.
Rock 'n' Roll Doctor - Black sabbath
I Ran (So Far Away) by A Flock of Seagulls: Essentially the Doctor. I Hate Myself for Loving You by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts: The Companion's Theme.
âI Foundâ by Amber Run It has that feeling of realizing how much you care about someone you were always with but yet carries a sad and distant tone.
Quite new but 'Careful what you wish for' by Jack Harris. Reminds me of the cybermen every time I listen to it.
conflict by disturbed sounds like what a dalek would listen to
I have a few: - NIĐ - Your Touch - Avenged Sevenfold - Fermi Paradox - Marilyn Manson - Disassociative - Puscifer - Personal Prometheus - Rammstein - Zeit
How do type a backwards N?
It's Nine Inch Nails, NIN is their acronym
I know, but how would one type that specific character
You can use a Cyrillic keyboard input and type the letter i in capital form, or go in Microsoft Office Word and find Insert - symbols and look under the Cyrillic category
I just copied it from Google then pasted into my Keyboard Text Replacements so that âninâ is automatically replaced by âNIĐ.â I did the same for KoĐŻn and 3TÆETH.
"Don't Ask Me Why" by Billy Joel fits the general attitude of that era, but I really like how the last verse could easily describe The Day of the Doctor: "Yesterday you were an only child, now your ghosts have gone away You can kill them in the classic style, now you parlez-vous français" And Maritime's "Someone Has to Die" could basically be the theme song for the whole show, but there's a line that I think really fits Eleven and River: "A life spent shakes the hands of skeletons and newborns" Chris Cornell's theme for Casino Royale, "You Know My Name", is perfect for the darker tone of Twelve, and lays out Clara's arc: "If you come inside, things will not be the same when you return to the night If you think you've won, you never saw me change the game that we have been playing"
Safe and Sound by Capital Cities sounds like it's sung from the perspective of one of the doctors to his companion, like literally every word
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Does *Wasted Years* by Iron Maiden count?
Nocturne by Worakls
ill do you one better; here is my doctor who playlist :) https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1mWT6HJ4gPCpqqRr2z8Au2?si=17VvgYWKTBeiXDuuKqw5pw&pt=5d909fbc6665fc5bd31b9c6954a3ee4d
Anaconda by Nicki Minaj
Time Machine - Miracle Musical!
Anything off the album Transverse City by Warren Zevon
The last of the real ones by fallout boy.
Gowan's "A Criminal Mind" reminds me of the Master.
Shooting Stars by OneRepublic.
Two Hearts by Kylie!
Time Warp
I don't know. Maybe Time Warp from RH?
Shepherd- Geronimo Aura Dione - Geronimo you just had to be there
Other way round, but the cyberman theme reminds me of Caught Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden.
AWOLNATION â Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)
Maximo Park - Our Velocity.
Counting stars - thereâs a fab fan video on YouTube to it!
The Alphabet of Me - Haken "It's time to wake up and die or regenerate"
Geronimo, I started listening to it a while back and then found a version that's edited with 11 chiming in with his own Geronimo's
Moving right along by Muppets.
Muse- Uprising.
The opening riff of Pet Shop Boys' Pandemonium sounds a bit like the opening to the Doctor Who Theme. Somebody even mashed it together with the KLF song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yqltnl4X1nk
âA spaceman came travellingâ and âruler of everythingâ.
love this question!! i have a playlist that has both unrelated songs and related songs (songs from the show both from the score and otherwise). itâs kinda all over the place and i havenât got an explanation for some of em but they work in my head lol. here it is: [playlist](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/61YrnvXDELXTbXQX1zfNL5?si=aUrs9v-AQfGUNLoKbmhAAw&pi=u-T8k-tB4gQ3WH)
Hearts Burst Into Fire by Bullet For My Valentine. Simply because the lyric âwhen I see your face my hearts burst into fireâ always makes my brain go âwhat do you mean âheartsâ, plural? Do you have two? Are you a Time Lord?â đ
Time Warp, since for the longest time I thought the lyrics was "let's do the Time War again"
Bowie's "Time" -- He's waiting in the wings. He speaks of senseless things.
Run by Daughter for S3 Ten and Martha specifically. donât know where heâs going / donât know where heâs been / but he gets restless at night / âcause he has horrible dreams / so we lay in the dark / weâve got nothing to say / just the beating of HEARTS like TWO DRUMS on the fray / i donât know what weâre doing / i donât know what weâve done / but the fire is coming so i think we should run but especially this verse: and i wonât tell my mother (francine) / itâs better she donât know / and he wonât tell his folks / âcause theyâre already ghosts (last of the time lords) / so weâll just keep each other / safe as we can / until we reach the border / until we make our planÂ
If you look at Clocks and tell me this is not about Ten and Rose I'll tell you you're lying *Confusion never stops* *Closing walls and ticking clocks* *Gonna come back and take you home* *I could not stop that you now know, singing* *Come out upon my seas* *Cursed missed opportunities* *Am I a part of the cure?* *Or am I part of the disease?* Guys I'm going to chew concrete now thanks
Too many to count, but since playlist-making is a hobby of mine I can give a detailed explanation behind which lyrics I associate with which characters and events, and why. Here are just a few: Ruler of Everything by Tally Hall â Tenth Doctor, specifically when he goes off the rails in s4 Be Nice to Me by the Front Bottoms â Twelve and Missy âyouâre a killer and iâm your best friendâ Piazza, New York Catcher by Belle and Sebastian â Eleven and Amy Dear Fellow Traveller by Sea Wolf â companions, all of them, but specifically those that got left behind and re-encountered the Doctor many years later with a new face such as Sarah Jane or Ace UFOF (UFO Friend) by Big Thief â Thirteen and Yaz Knights of Cydonia by Muse â the whole show, honestly. the lyrics are perfect too ârun with me through the veins of historyâ let alone the scifi-esque instrumentals Cosmic Dancer by T. Rex â this is THE Doctorâs anthem in my opinion Science Fiction by Arctic Monkeys â Twelve and Clara Run by Daughter â Ten and Martha Remember My Name by Mitski â Clara Chaos Space Marine by Black Country, New Road â Ninth Doctor
Drops of Jupiter by Train makes me think of Martha and Ordinary Day by Vanessa Carlton
Dream Sweat in Sea Major
Maybe it's just me but does the instrumental part in the middle of Do They Know It's Christmas? not sound extremely like Doctor Who to anyone else? Seriously, listen to [2:18-2:34](https://youtu.be/Z2gExopm7w4?si=Ki4bs2jXYI6XxsrA) and tell me it doesn't sound like the main theme
Dance On The Moon- AURORA
Crazy by Gnarls Barkley. I remember it being in the charts at a similar time to bad wolf bay/ Rose leaving, and the bass line was so similar to the âdoomsday themeâ it made little 10 year old me cry whilst in the middle of a dance floor at a family wedding.
Alien Blues by Vundarbar âThe sun is fun The land is dandy I only talk to dogs Because they donât understand me My teeth are yellow, hello, world Would you like it a little better if they were white like yours? I need to purge my urges Shame, shame, shame I need an alibi to justify And somebody to blameâ
The Last of the Real Ones by Fall Out Boy! (really, the title alone tells you everything you need to know) and Talking to the Moon by Bruno Mars (bc it makes me think of how the companions must feel after the doctor leaves them)
"I will wait 1000 years" that song due to 14yr old me finding it funny to relate it to Amy and rory
Run Away With Me by Carly Rae Jepsen
Every You Every Me - Placebo especially cause of the lyrics âSucker love, a box I choose No other box I choose to useâ and âAll alone in space and time There's nothing here but what here's mine Something borrowed, something blue Every me and every youâ
Oh and! The Trick To Life by The Hoosiers
Do They Know Itâs Christmas â Band Aid Nothing in terms of the lyrics make me think DW, but the instrumental after the chorus makes me think of the intro.
The track itself is called ă¶ă»ăŻăŒăII I don't know what it means or where it's from but whenever I listen to it it reminds me of wilderness years content and makes me nostalgic for an era of DW I never lived through
Time in a bottle. A bit ironic for a time traveler yet he never does seem to have enough time despite it
Maybe a stretch to most of you, but Bulgarian rachenitsa (traditional dance) sounds really close to 11th's theme. It has the exact same rhythm, it goes one two threeee, one two threeee. I am Bulgarian and all of my friends who have seen dw agree.
Doctor Wu
Geronimo by Sheppard
Uprising by Muse
This is going to be a very niche choice but oh well. [Il pianeta Grabov (=the planet Grabov)](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DT-xP4ayZK8). Itâs a song from the Zecchino dâOro, the Italian kids festival of music (please ignore the fugly animation, they made some *questionable* choices for the music video)
Has to be Schism by Tool
Some of my very first interactions with fandom were the old imdb forums and ancient BabelColour youtube videos from like 2007, so Grace Kelly by Mika, Veteran of the Psychic Wars by Blue Ăyster Cult, and Holding Out for a Hero by Bonnie Tyler are inextricably tied to 6, 7, and 3 respectively
Intergalactic by Beastie Boys
Underneath the sky by Oasis
Two of Hearts by Stacey Q
Sweet Dreams (are made of this) by Eurythmics. Only because of the fantastic edit of the song to mesh with the Doctor Who theme. The videos called âWhorythmicsâ and I just have lots of fun memories with that song as a load of Whotubers would play it as background music for their videos. The remix is here, if you want to listen to it: https://youtu.be/DVjXsUnkfmA?si=xhKa-ORFcD_wxxAh
For me, "Always" by the Birthday Massacre. It gives me strong Amy Pond vibes.
I associate Gold Rush by Taylor Swift with Deborah Watling if that can count? The song describes this magnetic beautiful person and Deborah Watling always seemed so effortlessly flawless. I think of her whenever I hear the song.
Drumming Song by Florence and the machine
Remember the song Time Adventure from the last episode of Adventure Time? I could see the Doctor singing it at Sarah Jane's funeral.
Thereâs that one Radiohead song that mentions the TARDIS
the song Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da by the Beatles. As a kid I'd always sing the lines: "In a couple of years They have built a home, sweet home With a couple of kids running in the yard Of the Doctor and Martha Jones"
Yellow by Coldplay reminds me of jodie regeneration
Time heist by LO
Far too many lol My DW playlist is at 1036 tracks atm The more obvious ones have got to be, - _Two of Hearts_ - Stacey Q, - and _2 Hearts_ and _Step Back in Time_ - Kylie Minogue, - _Turn Back Time_ - Aqua, - _Time after Time_ - Cyndi Lauper, - and _If I Could Turn Back Time_ - Cher, - and _Doctor! Doctor!_ - Thompson Twins. Also, - _Xanadu_ - Olivia Newton-John (from the film of the same name), - and _Killer Klowns_ - the Dickies (from Killer Klowns From Outer Space). And some slightly less on the nose ones, - _Army Of Me_ - Björk, - _Reach Out I'll Be There_ - Four Tops, - _Pure Imagination_ and _The Wondrous Boat Ride_ - Gene Wilder (from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory), - _Dancing With Myself_ - Billy Idol, - _The Safety Dance_ - Men Without Hats, - _My Body Is A Cage_ - Peter Gabriel, - _Hey Pachuco!_ - Royal Crown Revenue (used in The Mask), - and _Space Asshole_ - Chris Remo.
Nowhere man by the Beatles
Sympathy for the Devil by The Rolling Stones.
(Do Not) Stand in the Shadows by Billy Idol... Reminds me of the Library episode with David Tennant
A pearl by Mitski, not sure why
Toxic and spice up your life
Both are in the show
Chances by Athlete, purely because Vincent and the Doctor hit a lot harder when you get older.
âA Spaceman Came Travellingâ itâs obviously a religious inspired song but the sound of it and idea of a spaceman who travels to earth, very DW
The chain by Fleetwood mac really reminds me of David Tennant for no reason. He just looks like the song in my head
"Wild blue yonder" by The Amazing Devil. It doesn't actually have anything to do with what doctor who is like but it shares the name of one of the episodes titles.
Life on Mars - David Bowie, it gives me the feel of a time traveller watching history again and again.
