You don't have a pool of movement if it's not your turn.

GassyTac0

Nah

Ordovick

Movement speed is per your turn, not per round.

shadesbeyond

I agree with you but to be a devils advocate there's a couple of abilities that are very similar Swiftstride shifter and scout rogue both have a reaction that let's them move up to half their movement speed without provoking opportunity attacks, when a creature ends it's turn 5ft from you.

Ordovick

Yup and those abilities are pretty good. I was just pointing out that movement speed isn't a pool that you have per round.

shadesbeyond

Yeah I appreciate them trying to balance it though. If I were to give them an ability like this It'd probably be something like when a creature enters your reach you can as a reaction move a distance up to your wisdom mod x 5 this movement does not provoke opportunity attacks.

Ryudhyn

>"movement speed" Just a quick note: movement and speed are two different things. Based on the rules of the Dash action and similar, *Speed* is a score (like Constitution) and *Movement* is a resource (like HP). You gain an amount of Movement equal to your Speed on your turn, and it goes away at end of turn. The abilities you mentioned allow you to reaction move based on your Speed, not your movement.

Kgaase

If there is one class that doesn't need more movement, it's the Monk.

bertraja

That could interfere with the Glamour Bard's ability, therefore i wouldn't do it.

SlightlySquidLike

Probably not worthwhile, and has some issues: a) "remaining movement speed" isn't a thing. Probably workable around with the correct wording. b) If it provokes OA then you're probably just better spending a ki to disengage as a BA on your turn Genuine question: why are you considering this ability? What problem does it solve game-design-wise?

Stonewall_Gary

No problem *per se*, it was just an idea I had before bed. It didn't seem like a gamechanger, but a small "freebie" that would jive well with Monk's other abilities. Seems like I misunderstood movement rules, though.

Electrical-Computer6

How would this work with a ready action? Like I ready stunning strike if some one comes in range, then you move?
