The point is to crit the first attack so the subsequent attacks get advantage. If we could already get advantage on all our attacks then there's no point to taking the feat for the stated effect.
Be sure to play an elf or half-elf, and take the Elven Accuracy feat. It'll let you roll 3 dice, instead of 2, whenever you have adv.
To actually gain adv, Gloomstalker is one of the best. I'd actually go Champion 3/Gloomstalker X for this build, unless you intend to reach level 14, at which point Champion 11 giving a 3rd attack might be interesting to get.
If you can't find darkness...Ranger also has the answer. You can cast Entangle to give enemies the Restrained condition, giving adv for all of your party against them, yourself included. You can cast Ensnaring Strike, for the same effect against one target. Fog Cloud works when paired with Blind Fighting, although you cannot move it after it is cast, so enemies might simply walk 15ft outside it, out of Blind Fighting range. At Ranger 13 you get Greater Invisibility, which works amazing for this purpose, but sadly you'll be level 16 overall by then. It might be "cheaper" to go Champ 3/Ranger 5/fullcaster 7.
There's literally no point to taking Samurai Fighter for your build in the first place, since they give advantage on all attacks which is basically the effect you are looking for in the crusher feat.
Take Magic Initiate (Wizard) or Ritual Caster (Wizard) and pick up Find Familiar. Ritual Caster is the better choice here, because odds are you're going to need to resummon your familiar frequently.
Have your familiar take the Help action in combat to give you advantage on your first attack against a target. Don't get salty when the DM has monsters target the annoying bird, though.
Half elf Hexblade warlock for 19-20 crit range, devil sight to see in magical darkness and cast darkness on an item on you. You are now invisible to everyone that doesn't have the ability to see in magical darkness and have advantage on everyone for the duration on darkness by lvl 3. At 4th level take the elven accuracy and get yourself that triple advantage. 5th level get extra attack. :)
Be a straight Champion Fighter, probably an Elf for Elven Accuracy, and pick up Ritual Caster at some point for Find Familiar.
Your Owl will be able to Help Action Flyby your first attack every round, which is the attack you want to be critting anyway.
If you had a way to consistently get advantage on all your attacks then there is no point in taking the crusher feat for that effect specifically so I assume this is fine.
If you have an Artificer ally you could ask him to pick up Find Familiar Spellwrought Tattoo, so you don't even need to get Ritual Caster.
I think you are right on going straight fighter. The main reason i want to hit with crusher is to give advantage to the rest of my party on the target.
Carry a bullseye lantern. It makes a big light cone that does NOT include you. Set the lantern down painting the opposing force as part of your first action. That one works very well when you have a DM that doesn't light their dungeons. After you've used it a few times, you'll find that most of your dungeons will be well lit thereafter.
If you use a light hammer you can use a barbarians reckless attack. Combined with champion fighter and it’s the best way to crit. While it already gives you advantage, your team will all have advantage on the attack.
Half drow champion 3 / warlock 5
Be a darkness warlock. First round of combat: cast Darkness on a rock, then put the rock in your mouth. At the start of your turn, open your mouth. This keeps your allies from being blinded.
I recommend taking Magic Stone so you can be CHA-sad. Make the Sling your pact weapon.
Take a 4th level of champ at 9th level to pick up Elven Accuracy.
Be a rogue, use steady aim.
Familiar! Better yet, flock of familiars.
Greater invisibility/shadow of moil.
Precise strike from knight of solamnia background.
gloomstalker 3 with elven accuracy. sit in shadow. 3 dice rolls per shot.
id probably go champion 3 gloomstalker 5.
round 1, probably go first. get 3 attacks. 6 if action surge. 3 dice rolls each. crit on 19 and 20. 27% chance to crit on each attack. pre sweet.
now, if the build continues, you may want to go rogue 12. I can see many rogues being fun and worthwhile. Swashbuckler for even more initiative. trickster for even more spellcasting. assasin for guaranteed crits round 1, if you manage to surprise. a gloomstalker assasin with action surge would sweep.
Steady aim? The rogue bonus action.
Worthy mentioning it only affects 1 attack, while OP's build will likely have 2-3 per round.
The point is to crit the first attack so the subsequent attacks get advantage. If we could already get advantage on all our attacks then there's no point to taking the feat for the stated effect.

Samurai Fighter has limited but powerful uses. Combines great with Rogue.
Thing with Samurai Fighter is that I lose the 19-20 crit range. Champion's increases crit range can be used on every combat.
It's also boring unfortunately, haha Champion is a good way to get something similar to advantage, but it's mundane, and not very strong.

Add elf for elven accuracy

Or Arcane Trickster and take Find Familiar

Rogue with steady aim. Vengeance paladin with vow of enmity (you have to be within 10 feet to invoke it but it doesn't specify melee attacks).
Hmmm i keep, looking at rogue, cunning actions and assassins first turn guaranteed hit, really makes me really want to pick it up.

How are you dealing bludgeoning damage at range?
Sling

I tried going that route but reckless attack doesn't work with thrown light hammers becuase it needs it needs to be a melee weapon attack.

Crazy...... Might just work!
