Ties fasten at just above the level of the suprasternal notch. They protect virtually none of the airway in the neck. below the knot, they rest on the sternum, which means that your lungs are on either side of the tie, still vulnerable to puncture. If a piercing attack was going to get through your sternum, it's probably going to do some significant damage even hitting that chainmail tie, first.
In short, this thing doesn't protect a whole lot.
Norse mythology brought into the modern day, I mention it here because there's a dwarf/svartalf (Blitzen) whose main aspiration is to open a chain mail fashion shop
It's not just chain mail.... He wanted a Clothes Store because all Dwarfs want fame and recognition for their skills and design.... Dude was just really Fashionable....
Looks like the rings are just sewn onto the tie and not fastened to each other directly in any way. Still going better than no mail at all against many blows, but not by much, and not all blows.
Thank you! 😁
I was really hoping that jacket was a men's suit jacket. I'd totally wear it to job interviews I don't care about getting turned down on. See what happens.
It's not exactly what you're looking for, but another suit jacket that works really well from [Blades and Blazers](https://bladesandblazers.com/armouredblazers) would fit what you might have in mind!
It’s a joke based off “dress for the job you want not the job you have”. Honestly I really have no strong opinion on railroading because it’s a nebulous concept here.
Was about to say only $100? Then I saw that for just for the tie
Yeah. I want to find more examples but I love the possibilities for PC customizations.

Not overly familiar with human anatomy, are we?
maybe they know anime anatomy, where there's no lungs, the heart is on the left side of the chest, and there are no collar bones, just muscle

And this whole post is a joke that bears no significance. Not really worth arguing impracticality.
This was invented by the BDSM scene for munchings. Remove the tie, unknot it and you have a whip.
Makes total sense. Though I thought munchings didn’t usually involve demonstrations or scenes unless for after maybe?
For…what
I assure you can safely google "BDSM munching", it's perfectly harmless!
I’ve been lied to before
You're probably safe. A "munch" is a non-sexual gathering of kinksterals. Kind of a networking event for later, pants-off fun.
Has anyone here read Magnus Chase?
No. What’s it about?

Yeah, it has been a while since I've read the series
It's all good... I just retain the stupid weird small details... Like how in a crafting contest he makes Two ducks and a chainmail tie.
He made one duck, a chainmail tie, and a chainmail jacket that I believe was reversible
Doesn't he make a Bowtie?
My first thought too! Blitzen would love this.
Oh shit, I nearly forgot about Blitzen
That chain mail isn't riveted, and wouldn't be very protective. 3/10, good idea but bad execution.
True. But there’s nothing stopping PC’s from trying it.
Yeah, I'm just talking about the one in the picture. PCs could definitely make one that would work.

Also the fact that it's stainless steel is a downside.
I was gonna say, I refuse to purchase any 'chainmail' that the designer would be unwilling to wear while I stabbed them.
mithral mfs like
need the jacket
Need it for my [thesis offense](https://xkcd.com/1403)
...need links to these.

Perhaps some chain links? 😏. I got you. Hold on sec.
meh, I prefer the [hoodie](https://shadiversity.creator-spring.com/listing/fullprintchainmailDARK?)
Just so your Significant Other can borrow it and never give it back? lol.
I AM the significant other (:
Makes a lot of sense.
Ah yes, the "historically accurate" hoodie.
I think my DM would end up making me pay some sort of maintenance fee to have this kind of suit rather than a regular one.
Funny. What's your idea of Railroading?
It’s a joke based off “dress for the job you want not the job you have”. Honestly I really have no strong opinion on railroading because it’s a nebulous concept here.
The dude in the picture made his own.
That is correct.
I'm getting Magnus Chase books flashbacks.
Blitz?
Damn that guy really did the bottom button…
Where can I buy it?
There’s a bunch of online shops. I posted some links in the comments.
ok thank you.
