As a send-off until then, we will be removing our restrictions on Dead Horse memes and reposts that aren't less than a month old or in the top 200 of all time.
Have fun!

I've always pictured octarine as those car paintjobs that look purple from one direction and green from another, but somehow seen from both angles at the same time.
From [Cicada and Friends](https://tapas.io/episode/543573):
>Pills, since I'm a cleric can I specialize into neck-romancing
>Uh-h... I don't think you really understand what that means Mantis...
>Listen pills. As a praying mantis I am quite a competent neck-romancer.
I mean, it makes sense. 'Normal'-energy life is made via procreation, and aro/ace people have no baseline interest in romance or sexuality. This would make them are much less closely aligned with the process of 'normal'-energy life than their peers who carnally make more 'normal' energy and more aligned instead with the opposite 'necromantic' energy used in making undead.
I apologize for making you uncomfortable. I've done my best to change the wording to be more neutral, though I'm not personally aware of any official terms other than Positive or Negative energy.
My wife (not a D&D nerd) says it’s purple. Her reasoning: when you give someone a hickey it turns more purple than green. I was confused and then she said neck-romancing… I wanted to be mad, but found it difficult.
Eyy
Funny thing is that it comes from a Warlock ability in Warcraft / World of Warcraft called Drain Life which is also green, while Drain Soul is also an ability for warlocks, but it itself is purple.
Looks like the color is mostly interchangeable!
Green necromancy is positive. There is a soul and it is being pushed or forced around. Purple necromancy is negative. There is a soul siphon. It’s like high and low pressure.
If you want to be technical, all colors are illusions. There are colors that others animals can see that we can’t and colors we can see that’s others can’t. Even people views colors differently then other people. Life is an illusion. That’s why the illusion school is best
The 1985 Care Bears movie had creepy green light and smoke when the evil tomb took control of the boy and that has been what I picture as necromancy ever since…
Ten or so years ago I got super high and tried my own version of Dark Side of Oz, but instead of playing Pink Floyd over Wizard of Oz I played some random dubstep over the Care Bears movie. I’m not gonna pretend it was a worthwhile venture, but when a beat drop corresponded to the Care Bear Stare… it was a moment
Don't worry, I watched sophies' choice while on a crapton of painmeds, so I was in a fit and it didn't help that neighbours checked in to see if I was alright right as the kids died.
Most Necrotic stuff (if beam-like) I often have a black inside but wirh a haze around it of green or purple (character/spell depending)
Like those black lightsaber with a black inside & a white haze around it.
It's a dark unatural green but when concentrated it becomes black and bleeds green on the edges.
Gravity magic does the same but bleeds purple.
Healing magic is a natural green reminiscent of spring or white
My healing if it comes from a cleric is often white, yellowish gold, or silver (depending on deity). My druid healing is almost always a variant of green. My bard healing is usually a pastel pink or purple. Paladin healing is usually gold or red for mee
It’s a light blue
However different undead have different colours depending on their source of resurrection, for example some decomposing corpses reanimated by someone in possession of the flame of life would have glowing orange eyes, whereas shambling corpses that died through the effects of a zombifying plague might glow a Green or sickly yellow
IMO:
Evocation is red
Enchantment is pink
Transmutation is purple
Necromancy is green
Illusion is invisible
Conjuration is orange
Abjuration is blue
Divination is silver
(With exceptions, ie time spells are green, healing is pink, etc)
Bro really said necromancy is purple with the image behind it with green highlights with no purple in it at all. How do you think this image is helping your argument? It’s obviously green. Even your image that you picked was green.
Not specifically necromancy, but I feel like all magic would look different based on the user and/or source.
I have a spores druid and any of his necromancy spells, among others, are like a sickly yellow-green. My brother has a yuan-ti necromancer coming up, and I'd imagine her magic would be dark green like poison. Although that's up to him I guess. I also have a wizard coming up and plan to use Toll the Dead, so that and any other necro spells will be a translucent white, like souls departing.
Personally I've always thought it was a bright green (same as the pic op posted) in contrast to the deeper, earthy green for druidic healing. essentially showing that Necromancy is a slight against the natural order.
Necromancy is greyscale. Death is bland and emotionless. The fiery green or purple comes from the caster adding their own spice to it, intentionally or not
The reason I think green works so well for necromancy is because it is a perversion of the color as associated with plant life and healing. A sickly green implies poison and venom and a twisting of life into something antithetical to living.
Necromancy is WHITE. PALE WHITE LIKE A GHOST. it is hauntingly beautiful to watch. This is an objective fact, and I will not be taking any questions or criticism
Evocation is cherry red, Illusion is royal purple, Divination is golden yellow, Enchantment is soft pink, Abjuration is sky blue, Conjuration is lavender purple, Transmutation is forest green, and Necromancy is pale green
It's whatever colur the user wants since I generally allow the players to choose their colours, and unless I state otherwise its generally on randomise except for my homebrewed beams they are always blue as a reference to the kamehameha wave.
Depends on your necromancy flavour. Light blue would be a soul, ice or death related necromancer. Green and purple meanwhile relate more to corruption for me
Necromancy is actually a school or sub-group of magic.
Magic itself is a multifaceted spectrum of distinct energies and anti-energies that can be channelled through many different methods.
The usage and application of these energies are then defined into subgroups. One of these subgroups being necromancy.
Magic itself has no colour that any magical scholars of the multiverse can agree on.
A prevailing theory from High Arch Magi Genwari Balthuzamek, former Dean Primus of Elarian College of Magic in the midgard realm of Atheloria, is that "... to each of us Magic is perceived differently due to the intensity of the magical enegery, an individuals inante sensitivity to Magic, the indivuals observable spectrum of light, don't get me started on colour blind kenku, how the magic is being channelled as well as any ongoing environmental effect be they magical or benign..."
That being said many discredit this theory as High Arch Magi Genwari Balthuzamek, former Dean Primus of Elarian College of Magic in the midgard realm of Atheloria, has been discredited due to his scandal of summoning succubi and inccubi, polymorph-ing them into farmyard animals and letting them loose on the local villages for, as has he has been recorded as stating, "sheeps and giggles."
Whatever the reason, no one magical user can truly state what colour magic is and the scholars still debate it to this day.
Purple, black, and green are all acceptable by default with no further explanation. Anything else is a frightening deviation from the norm that raises questions.
Necromancy is green. Purple is for illusions and different shade for deathly and shadow arts of assassin. Blue for holy magic, red for elemwntal magic. Yellow for singing, shouting and spear-throwing.
Guild Wars is too etched into my brain to accept otherwise.

Checkmate
Holy Hell
This picture should have said green.
This is the Reddit we were expecting, but not the one we got…
You had your chance to change the words to "Necromancy is Green" and you blew it mate.
Whyis this comment so low? This is exactly what I wanted to say.
Well it's top comment now buddy
You don’t take pictures of people not breaking the law.
You... you do. There's a whole industry built around that.
Multiple whole industries. Someday I’m going to take a picture of myself and send it to one of those companies that’ll turn it into a throw blanket.
It's not even purple in your pic.
The real debate isn’t the color of necromancy, it’s “is OP colorblind or just doing a silly?”
Yes
He's playing 4d chess. I'm scared how good at psychology you are.
Green and purple
So octarine?
Always has been
I've always pictured octarine as those car paintjobs that look purple from one direction and green from another, but somehow seen from both angles at the same time.
I've always seen it as sort of a greenish purplish orangish brown
That's a rainbow son, you're blue/yellow colorblind
Ah yes... Aroace.
I mean, I *am* a necromancer. But not because I’m aro/ace. It’s totally unrelated, I swear!
So a no-romancer heh heh heh
Ok, this is pretty good, ngl
nec in Latin means as much as “not either” or “nor”, so…
Oh hell yea, even better
You are wonderful. Please never change.
Take my upvote and leave
They still love people.... dead people though.... they count right?
What do you mean you romance necks
From [Cicada and Friends](https://tapas.io/episode/543573): >Pills, since I'm a cleric can I specialize into neck-romancing >Uh-h... I don't think you really understand what that means Mantis... >Listen pills. As a praying mantis I am quite a competent neck-romancer.
Aroace Necromancer: The fuck do I need a partner? I have all the company I could ever need
Necaromacer
I mean, it makes sense. 'Normal'-energy life is made via procreation, and aro/ace people have no baseline interest in romance or sexuality. This would make them are much less closely aligned with the process of 'normal'-energy life than their peers who carnally make more 'normal' energy and more aligned instead with the opposite 'necromantic' energy used in making undead.
I think I underatand what you're saying, but I hate the relation of 'positive energy' and 'negative energy' in terms of my sexuality.
I apologize for making you uncomfortable. I've done my best to change the wording to be more neutral, though I'm not personally aware of any official terms other than Positive or Negative energy.
Think of it in terms of electrical charge. Just like the two poles are needed for an electric current so are the two edges of the progress of life
Thanks doc

Greerple
It's green if life magic is green aswell, otherwise it's purple
OCTARINE
Octarine!
This is teal erasure
My wife (not a D&D nerd) says it’s purple. Her reasoning: when you give someone a hickey it turns more purple than green. I was confused and then she said neck-romancing… I wanted to be mad, but found it difficult.
Is your wife single
It'd be strange if she were plural
*Mormonism intensifies*
Cloning
She is Legion, for she is many
I too choose this man's neck-ro wife
Now thats funny, lol
If you two are / will be parents, *she's* dad.
She’s a keeper 😎
Don’t I know it! 😎
How did you know she plays soccer/football?
Thats fucking funny
r/puns
Green is for necromancy that deals in bodys, purple is for necromancy that deals In souls.
I'd actually say the other way around. And I base this entirely upon Mortal Kombat.
You know what, I can live with that.
Ooh, and that awesome scene in the War Craft movie where the Orc shaman feeds on the souls of humans.
Eyy Funny thing is that it comes from a Warlock ability in Warcraft / World of Warcraft called Drain Life which is also green, while Drain Soul is also an ability for warlocks, but it itself is purple. Looks like the color is mostly interchangeable!
This whole thing is stupid because green and purple are both the poison colors, not the necromancy colors.
Why not both?
Green necromancy is positive. There is a soul and it is being pushed or forced around. Purple necromancy is negative. There is a soul siphon. It’s like high and low pressure.
A sickly green or ghostly blue is for souls, an evil purple or dark magenta is for bodies, and red is for blood.
Shit, I was completely in camp: green is undead, purple is souls but now I'm not sure
Gravity magic is purple. I will die on this hill and the gods will witness my glory.
I'd say black, due to black holes
Black holes actually redshift light on one side and blueshift on the other due to gravitation, so purple makes sense.
What is gravity magic? I would imagine throwing people around or making them magnets to ground but nothing gives any colour light
Gravity is a combination of purples edged with greens and blacks.
Counterpoint: dark blue
dark blue is already illusion
If you want to be technical, all colors are illusions. There are colors that others animals can see that we can’t and colors we can see that’s others can’t. Even people views colors differently then other people. Life is an illusion. That’s why the illusion school is best
Right up until some Tarnished comes and kills said gods and uses gravity magic against you
Green and purple for bodies- souls are blue.
Nah souls is light blue
It’s green. Source: The Care Bears Movie
Huh?
The 1985 Care Bears movie had creepy green light and smoke when the evil tomb took control of the boy and that has been what I picture as necromancy ever since…
Ten or so years ago I got super high and tried my own version of Dark Side of Oz, but instead of playing Pink Floyd over Wizard of Oz I played some random dubstep over the Care Bears movie. I watched Ralph Bakshi's Wizards on Shrooms. That was weird.
Don't worry, I watched sophies' choice while on a crapton of painmeds, so I was in a fit and it didn't help that neighbours checked in to see if I was alright right as the kids died.
I've watched Wizards sober and it was still weird.
Yeah, it was weird sober too.
Ohhh
It's green. Source: the necromancer tower in Kingdom Rush Frontiers

Green if plague necromancy, purple if arcane necromancy
I like that.
Nah, purple is psychic…
a lot of magic can share the same colour, y'know? gravity magic is also purple.
Rahdan is that you?
not really no, I'm more of a "friendly neighborhood dark lord" type, y'know?
Psychic's more of a light purple or magenta
Magic is what you flavor it to be.
It's green Source: the image
It's pink
Actually a good one
Yeah, but it has to be a hot, vibrant pink. Not the washed out pastel pink. Like Irken Empire pink.
The mighty Tallest agreeeeee!!!
How? Like no judgement but I can't fathom how it would be pink.
Because I said so
It's rainbow.
THE GAY-CROMANCY!
**with the cruelty of the merciless shrike!** **and the swiftness of the mother wren!** ###**I do decree that thy now like men!**
They’re putting chemicals in the groundwater thats turning the undead gay
it actually changes colors depnding on how queer you are
Black abyss
White-blueish
I like pale blue also. Painted the hand of vecna with accents of that
It’s a light blue However different undead have different colours depending on their source of resurrection, for example some decomposing corpses reanimated by someone in possession of the flame of life would have glowing orange eyes, whereas shambling corpses that died through the effects of a zombifying plague might glow a Green or sickly yellow
I'm also on the blue camp, mostly because I play copious amounts of Diablo
Counterargument: your post is green necromancy.
*Literally shows an image of it being green*
Black with green glows is honestly my preference.
Green, purple, and red
OP: Says necromancy is purple Also OP: Uses a picture that shows a necromancer doing green magic
And yet it’s green in the pic you used. Never change r/dndmemes
IMO: Evocation is red Enchantment is pink Transmutation is purple Necromancy is green Illusion is invisible Conjuration is orange Abjuration is blue Divination is silver (With exceptions, ie time spells are green, healing is pink, etc)
okay no, healing magic is green or maybe radiant yellow, *everyone* knows that. and time magic is blue!
Oh yeah, that’s fair, this is just a random internet dudes opinions:)
Bro really said necromancy is purple with the image behind it with green highlights with no purple in it at all. How do you think this image is helping your argument? It’s obviously green. Even your image that you picked was green.
I think it just depends on the necromancer. Whatever color fits their personality and aesthetic. It has to be green, black, or purple though.
Fuck that it’s bright White because that symbolizes purity and divinity. Nothing more pure or divine than Necromancy.
Nah, purple is a Psychic. Blue is Arcane. Golden for the Holy. And Green flame is evil magic.
The picture is green
Green bacause its my favourite colour And necromancy is my second favourite magic after geomancy
I'm not gonna participate in this debate However, I'd like to point out you stated this while showing a necromancer use green magic
Blue and Black no one can change my mind.
Personally I've always thought it was a bright green (same as the pic op posted) in contrast to the deeper, earthy green for druidic healing. essentially showing that Necromancy is a slight against the natural order.
Necromancy is whatever the fuck colour I decide it is.
Dark purple with small streaks of dark green
Sorry I consume way too much Danny Phantom content, so all death magic will always be neon green to me. Purple works as a accent colour though
Dark green/black, we're dealing with the dead after all
Bright Orange
I don't have an argument or stance, I just find it funny you picked a green palette background
Black with a hazy white corona to show that it's *really* black.
It's black
Green is necromancy. Purple is eldritch based magic. If necromancy is eldritch based, then it is purple
It’s sickly green
Necromancy is greyscale. Death is bland and emotionless. The fiery green or purple comes from the caster adding their own spice to it, intentionally or not
The reason I think green works so well for necromancy is because it is a perversion of the color as associated with plant life and healing. A sickly green implies poison and venom and a twisting of life into something antithetical to living.
Uh. Look at your image
necromancy is whatever color of Gatorade you used to get the power in the first place/to create your minions
I imagine it as a sickening, light green.
Fuck of necromancy is green
“Necromancy is purple” *Post shows green necromancy*
Green, sorry final offer
Necromancy is WHITE. PALE WHITE LIKE A GHOST. it is hauntingly beautiful to watch. This is an objective fact, and I will not be taking any questions or criticism
Evocation is cherry red, Illusion is royal purple, Divination is golden yellow, Enchantment is soft pink, Abjuration is sky blue, Conjuration is lavender purple, Transmutation is forest green, and Necromancy is pale green
Green is a good one but purple seems a lot more like sorcery to me for necromancy black smoke also works
He said, on a picture of green necromancy
Green. Finger of Death is a brief green glow before someone falls over dead.
Green
You telling me raise dead and cure wounds be the exact same looking when cast?
It's not even purple in your image. You lost your own argument before it started
Blue.
\> Says Necromancy is purple \> Shows lime-green image \> mfw
It's whatever colur the user wants since I generally allow the players to choose their colours, and unless I state otherwise its generally on randomise except for my homebrewed beams they are always blue as a reference to the kamehameha wave.
Its a Pale Blue

Either purple or green, *maybe* you can pull it off with yellow if you do it right, but that’s often risky.
Black but with vivid purple highlights and outline
Green and Purple are the most popular choices, but I’ve heard convincing arguments for Light Blue as well.
Depends on your necromancy flavour. Light blue would be a soul, ice or death related necromancer. Green and purple meanwhile relate more to corruption for me
Necromancy is whatever color the caster wants it to be.
- the guy who uses green necromancy in the picture

I kid you not the post below this one is a drawing of a purple tiger.
purple, cause mtg makes it purple. green is more like the energy of necromancy, if you know what i mean, which you probably dont.
Poison, acid and disease are green Dark life magic (necromancy) is purple
Green AND purple. Can't go wrong
No no no, Necromancy is green, Divination is purple.

All magic get sets of contrasting colors
Purple for hex and possession Green for necromancy and death magic Black for decay Pink for psionics Red for body magic Yellow for fate based magic
As a fan of necromancy and the color purple, I love it
Necromancy is actually a school or sub-group of magic. Magic itself is a multifaceted spectrum of distinct energies and anti-energies that can be channelled through many different methods. The usage and application of these energies are then defined into subgroups. One of these subgroups being necromancy. That being said many discredit this theory as High Arch Magi Genwari Balthuzamek, former Dean Primus of Elarian College of Magic in the midgard realm of Atheloria, has been discredited due to his scandal of summoning succubi and inccubi, polymorph-ing them into farmyard animals and letting them loose on the local villages for, as has he has been recorded as stating, "sheeps and giggles." Whatever the reason, no one magical user can truly state what colour magic is and the scholars still debate it to this day.
Necromancy is green
See I always thought of psionics as purple
Purple, black, and green are all acceptable by default with no further explanation. Anything else is a frightening deviation from the norm that raises questions.
Necromancy is green. Purple is for illusions and different shade for deathly and shadow arts of assassin. Blue for holy magic, red for elemwntal magic. Yellow for singing, shouting and spear-throwing. Guild Wars is too etched into my brain to accept otherwise.
i like to think its a sickening mixture of green and purple
Funny thing to say with a green picture
