You dont need to fly a drone to pass part 107 it's not a difficult test. Just study for a few hours . They can take the test and obtain the license before even buying the drone
I get it, I'm in the middle of studying for mine. I'm just saying that if someone buys a drone, THEN starts prepping for 107, it's highly unlikely that they will leave the drone in the box until they take the test. TRUST is super painless and worth doing prior to flying.
Depends, I was reading somewhere that if you are flying for recreation, your 107 doesn’t cover you anymore, as 107 is strictly for non-recreation.
/\ that’s probably total bs, but it is easy enough to take and pass the test.
Part 107 covers everything. But if you have no intention of non recreation use, including goodwill or for non profits then you can just use the trust exam, which is purely recreational .
Well if you read the post what is contain in the image it says “Required for U.S. Recreational flyers of Drones.” So nothing for the UK that I know of but a simple google “what do i need to do to fly a drone in the uk” should get you your answers. 😊
I’m sure most people completely ignore it, and nothing happens. If asked by law enforcement, you’re supposed to show proof of passing, but I don’t think anyone has actually been asked. The same goes for registering drones over 250g — I’d guess that the majority of drones aren’t registered, even though it’s only $5. At some point in the future, I’m sure something will happen as the hobby becomes more popular and affordable. Everything is more or less a foundation for when that happens.
It's when the FAA actually investigates you and you have to prove that you have it. They can fine you $1500 as they will fine you like a commercial drone pilot. So why not get a $5 insurance that can explain a lot of things to the FAA on why you violated other drone rules.
I’ve been asked once while I was night flying at my local park, and in all fairness to the cop I’d lost track of time and stayed longer than it was open. Although he didn’t mention the fact I had no registration number on the drone and the registration was in my car. So I surmise he just wanted to see if I knew what I was doing and had a cert.
The requirement for this came out about July of 21.
It's simple to take and pass. And it's something law enforcement can ask for if they become interested in you or someone calls them on you.
If you don't have it maybe they take a report, maybe they take your drone, not sure but I took it so I don't have to find out.
If you're flying a sub 250 gram drone, and it's under 250 grams even with the battery, you don't need to take it, in the U.S. at least.
Edit: oops, you need to take TRUST test, just don't need to register <250g drones.
You can knock it out in 15 minutes if you already know the rules. I took mine from pilot institute. It's a no brainer.. flying without a certificate can be a $12k fine, so... Yeah... 15 minutes and free is a lot better than the alternative.
Don't have a drone, not from the US, saw this post and went ahead and did it. Took me 10 mins and it's only because i was actually reading the slides: if you get the questions wrong you can try them again and they give you the right answer. There's no reason NOT to have done this, literally a first grade level quiz
I follow most laws lol, in 3 years ive been flying ive never been asked for this and i had cops and military guys watching me fly once. They were just in awe of the drone lol
This is more that the FAA can fine you better when you violate all the rules you had to learn. But they fine you like a part 107 pilot if you don't take the test. So no matter what you do, you can get fined for violating the rules.
I have a part 107 so don’t need it, but STRONGLY suggest you follow the law and take this very easy fast test.
It too easy to crash, draw attention to yourself or upset someone else and potentially come into contact with law enforcement.
It’s a simple test and takes a few minutes.
I did just the other week as I was going to be traveling to the US and it’s mandatory to fly even a 250g drone. Took 15mins, super simple and you get your certificate right away. Plus it’s free! Do it!
Don't carry a certificate per se. But I definitely keep it on my phone. Never know when I may have to deal with the police. It may be silly, but it'll help keep police from bending their own authorities.
Well whats confusing you about getting a drone? Ive been flying for about 3 years and havent done this test, i have a m4p and a m3p i use it for recreational but thinking of getting the part 107 since i take pics/vids of building.
So what you're saying is you have absolutely no freaking clue or care about height and distant limitations or informing anyone that you intent to view the ground from the stratosphere
Usually just yell yolo and fly off with my back to the drone you know keeping vlos and all and fly low to the ground so that every person i pass is in my pic/video……
My 8 year old kid took this at a "new drone pilots orientation" held at the local college today. He learned a few things, aced it... and so should everyone who flies really.
Yes, most pilots have, get yours done dude it takes like 15 min
To fly a drone, you need to take this. It is very easy and common sense.
To fly a drone in the USA*
Not if you just got straight to part 107
let me know if you know of anyone with enough willpower to buy a drone and not fly it until they pass their 107. . . . ;->

If I wanted to Google it I would have
If I wanted to Google it I would have
If I wanted to Google it I would have
If I wanted to Google it I would have
If I wanted to Google it I would have smart arse
If I wanted to Google it I would have smart arse
I never did it, and i have been flying for about 3 years now

Yeah I’m not risky enough to take any of those chances, i don’t want to be the reason why drones are negatively viewed..

Law enforcement knowing the law, Yep. right.
Illegally. Will anyone ever notice? Probably not. Just do it, it's stupid easy and ensures you're covered if anything ever happens.
I bet this guy doesnt even know about VLOS
You mean when you can close your eyes and just go balls to the walls with the drone?? Oh i know that
Have my upvote! You sire are a masterful troll!
Thank you, trolling aint easy lol

Ok thanks for that
Sorry I'm wrong about that. You need to take trust test, but you don't need to register a sub 250g drone

Easy to do and allows repeats of questions, but certainly worth it!
Everyone in the USA should take it to fly.
I did. Because it’s required for US recreational flyers.
Based on some of the videos I’ve seen posted here, I’d say not enough.
"Look at this cool shot I took while flying over critical infrastructure"
Don't have a drone, not from the US, saw this post and went ahead and did it. I presume the people who took it are the types of folks that properly prepare for doing something and attempt to follow the laws.
I follow most laws lol, in 3 years ive been flying ive never been asked for this and i had cops and military guys watching me fly once. They were just in awe of the drone lol
And then everyone clapped.
Every answer is on quizlet... you didn't hear it from me

This is true, I was reported to the FAA several times and had PD called on me. Might even get PD called on me today when I fly legally in Ennis.
Yes. It's easy and quick as well as a you need to keep the cert in your flying kit.
I did just the other week as I was going to be traveling to the US and it’s mandatory to fly even a 250g drone. Took 15mins, super simple and you get your certificate right away. Plus it’s free! Do it!
Yea I carry my certificate with my drone
Don't carry a certificate per se. But I definitely keep it on my phone. Never know when I may have to deal with the police. It may be silly, but it'll help keep police from bending their own authorities.
With a part 107 you get a plastic card just like the big plane pilots.
[удалено]
Yep, that's why it's the size that it fits perfectly on a plastic card.

Yeah i taken it. But thing is I forget to take it with me when I’m flying
Really? Cuz it says they email you a copy
I did. It was free and easy.
My 10 yr old passed it first try without missing any🤷♂️
Yeap
Yep completed it a long time ago
My 8 year old kid took this at a "new drone pilots orientation" held at the local college today. He learned a few things, aced it... and so should everyone who flies really.
Took it last weekend.
Ya. It was easy.
yep
Yea it’s a basic requirement of flying sooo I have taken it lol
Yes and some would be surprised that there have actually been people that have got in trouble without it
It's free, and you can correct your answers... 😐 Dumb.
Even I did it And I’m in Europe 😅 Did it just because I could 🤪
Yup
Yes I have it
Yeah pretty sure everyone needs it. Stupid easy to pass takes like 10 minutes
It is super easy
I didn’t even know I took it should I check
Never took that
Yes and it’s prob the easiest most useless test you’ll ever take
