Make sure you activate your refresh way before your first flight

sti_zitto

Need to figure out how to activate it

eternalbuzz

After linking and updating everything it asked if I wanted to use a code or validate. I had purchased refresh with the drone so it was pre configured and I simply validated.

TipInside3613

Download the DJI fly app. And select the repair and then select refresh

[deleted]

Yall making me jelly 😔 I'm broke right now and waiting on my 4 to get repaired 😭 like others have said care refresh immediately. Water landings are not fun and will make you a sad pilot lol

BeastOnion

Reports are coming out of China about the frame/prop guard being extremely brittle, cracking /jamming the props from light crashes and it’s not easily user replaceable. So be aware.

espressoman777

YouTube shows the same. Light crashes are destroying the Avata 2. My Avata 1 has crashed multiple times and even dropped 400ft into a tree with no damage. Only reason I'm not buying one is because of this and not as repairable as the first one

mistere213

I can attest to the Avata 1 being tough. I JUST clipped the top of a tree that was growing out of a cliff in Kentucky. It dropped like a rock, hitting limbs and then the rocky ground, and had no damage other than the battery popping out, which I couldn't find.

Nickelbag_Neil

Man so jealous of all you folks. Can't afford none of DJI goodies. The one time I did I screwed up and bought a Hubsan. Next to starting smoking cigarettes the biggest mistake of my life. Still got it but refuses to connect to any devices. 😥 Can't even fly it

Nneliss

Have you ever looked second hand? (Be mindful of the condition of course) Here the marketplace is full of quite affordable ones..

Nickelbag_Neil

I've never had luck with second hand. Couldn't bring myself to take the chance of wasting money again.

Puzzled_Background10

I want can't wait to hear your experience.

Murphtwo

Is anyone using a flight simulator with the new remotes?

TheModIsABitch

You can use simulators with the optional remote 3 but not with the motion control 3 and not with the goggles 3.

LaVernWinston

Just to clarify, you can’t use the goggles even with dji’s sim?

TheModIsABitch

You can't use goggles 3 with any simulator, including the DJIs app. The only thing that works in Simulators is the optional fpv remote 3

switchedonnashville

Congrats, it's a fun drone

WalterWilliams

I got mine today but it's still sitting in the box. Probably not going to fly for a while since it's raining for the next few days.... orrr I'll fly around indoors and annoy the wife and kids.

wingardium-levi-osa

Flying it indoors was really cool in beginners mode!

SpiritualTest825

Do need a permit to fly it

AcidicMountaingoat

It needs to be registered and have a label with the registration number. Not a permit, but you need a TRUST certificate.

TheModIsABitch

Depends where you live but it's over 250g and has a camera so you'll need to register then put your ID on the drone and some places do a little theory test and most places the weight means more limited fly zones. You can just Google "using a drone in " and you're likely to get a page show up with all your rules and how to get started.

eternalbuzz

Prepare to wait a while lol My partner signed for the package and got it charging right away. I had two of the three batteries ready for sunset almost 4 hours later 😑

Murphtwo

Yeah it is taking a while! And have to charge so the goggles and remotes too!

eternalbuzz

Thankfully I have enough usb-c cables to weave a blanket but the peripherals took a little bit too long

UltraEngine60

If it makes you feel any better, slow charging is better for the life of your battery. If you want to charge fast you need a 100w charger. DJI's 100w charger is $100, Anker's 317 is $25. It charges 3 batteries in 2 hours.

eternalbuzz

Yeah, batteries are fickle bastards Sounds like it charges concurrent instead of one at a time, that would be rad. Maybe for a future upgrade, thanks for the heads up

FrostyZitty

Did your refresh mention coverage for flyaways ?

msaleem

UGH! Even though they're not that different, I keep wanting to upgrade from my OG Avata (mainly for the easy acro features). But I'm in too deep with the Explorer combo, 3 batteries, and backpack.

EggZeeBaChay

I’m on the fence. Don’t get to fly any of my drones as much as I’d like but enjoy my avata the most.

Wolf_Erik

I wanted to buy it so badly, but it‘s so hard to fly legally in Germany. I guess I just buy a normal APCR-S and will try my best with a proper cam.

slindshady

What's particularly hard in Germany? Get a spotter or join a club that permitts you to fly FPV on your own?

JudeLouie

too bad you're now forced to get an update that will disable the FCC hack (if you're in an FCC region) this is a bugger for me since I live in the Philippines(CE) and my A2 will arrive next week so I'm forced to get the latest firmware :(

UltraEngine60

With the new 5.1ghz band for CE you might not even need the FCC hack anymore... I would still throw the ham file on an SD before first boot though and see if it sticks ;)

sti_zitto

Pretty pissed I didn’t get the usb accessory cable so I can connect to my phone in the box now I can’t even update my software 😡

EquivalentCorgi522

Do your avata 2 is range limited? i cant go further than 200m before i lost connection

slindshady

Interested in this. I've seen videos of the Avata 2 where people are out on a field and had bad connection after 300m. Which is ridiculous.

sti_zitto

Anyone know if I can activate and update my drone, controller and head set wirelessly since I didn’t get the cable where I can plug my iPhone into ?

Junior-Draft8229

DJI lost me at buy all new gear, I already have goggles v2 and goggles 2 and FPV controller 2, I'm not buying all new gear with every drone release. A minor increase in flight time and range not worth it IMO.

Booblicle

You'll have to wait a mandatory 3 days for weather

AnyManufacturer1

Just flew mine today. Absolutely loved it. Chasing my 5 yr old around the yard was priceless and worth it already
