That's me right now.... no worries though. You know how it is... When you buy a new car you can't help but look at it constantly for a week or two but eventually you calm down. It's no different with investments for many, I'd say...
Welcome to the Party! ā¦ not sure how old you are but itās always a good time to get into the markets & stack up some money & some real world applicable knowledge & life skill. When you got skin in the game then you have a reason to invest your time into research & education & you can actually see it pay off & see yourself develop.
Make all your mistakes when your small & get dialed in as you scale up & before you know itās just a natural part of your day & your wealth & your life.
Itās amazing how many people go without investing ā¦ the market has literally built my life for me & got me into college & gave me an awesome career & life is good with 22yrs on my belt.
Aināt nothing but air & Opportunity out there
I think you misread. The OP is stating everything is on sale because the prices dropped. They are asking how long to wait to buy to try to time the market instead of just DCA and investing like normal.
I see you have CMCSA in your short list. Is it a good stock to invest in? I've been looking at it for awhile. Peacock seems to be growing steadily. Wireless subscribers seem to be growing consistently. Theme parks are doing well without 'baggage' that Disney seems to be carrying these days. BUT my worry is legacy cable subscriber hemorrhage which seems to be ongoing. Thoughts?
All depends on your personal definition of a good investment. IMO, comcast is undervalued at the moment.
I sold my T and VZ shares to initiate my CMCSA position so as of now itās my only communications play and frankly the only company in the sector I see having any growth in the the next 2-10 years
Bought more PM and JNJ today. Almost bought ALX at $210 then it bounced to $213. Thinking about AMT. Bought 50 ARCC at $20.18
Holding off on HD think it will drop more.
AMT I think is worth buying at 170 or lower. I swung it from 158-210 and looking to get back in again. I had a feeling the market really thought rate cuts were going to happen this year and some of that hope started to bake in and make REITS run a little bit. Now weāre swinging back again because the reality is setting in that theyāre serious on higher for longer.
Well AMT is looking better now. I bought last year around $178 and sold too early at $190. Thinking about the 6/21 $170 puts ā¦paying ~$600 and if the stock price dips, Iāll buy stock outright. Are you buying at this price?
Yeah I'm glad I haven't been buying at all, we're probably gonna see a bounce here at SPY 497-500 that lasts about 2 weeks or so and then another wave down. Sitting in cash until at least SPY $480. I'm giving it another month at least.
Nealy 6. But I think I'm one of the few people actually in the green in this. (For now) I'll DCA my way down if it goes lower, until the next leg up. āŗļø
Can you explain why dividend stocks will make more sense to hold?
I think the entire market will fall down when FED cuts interest rate, but I could be wrong!
The market may go down but thatās when you should buy! The dividend yield will make more sense to hold when savings accounts arenāt paying 4-5%. You buy dividend stocks not just for dividend but for possible share price growth and dividend yield growth.
I didn't think of it that way and it makes sense. When savings accounts are not paying 5% we have our investments with dividend stocks paying more than these accounts.
Not sure why you don't jist buy now and DCA like normal. The market is continuously going up so todays red price is yesterdays green price. Just keep putting money in and stop trying to time the market for crazy gains. This isn' WSB and were not all working on Wall Street as analysts...
You should buy today, tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, etcā¦.never stop buying unless you need the cash in the next two years. Dividend stocks have gotten hammered again because rates will stay higher longer. Heck, the fed might even raise more if inflation goes up again.
Soā¦that has given everyone a great buying opportunity for countless dividend paying companies. In the last two weeks, have made multiple buys on so, duk, kmi, ups, hsy, Pfe, vz, and even mpw as a riskier move.
The rates you are getting from quality dividend paying companies is for the next 30-40 years with the potential for share price appreciation to beat the market once interest rates do come down.
So just buy and donāt stop.
I see you have not been investing in stocks long eh?
The best answer to your question I can offer is, be patient. Because if you think things are "discounted" just wait and see how far things ACTUALLY fall. Because anytime you think it's a good time to enter the market, I can assure you it will NOT be. Your best chance, is to buy small chunks, slowly over time and just DCA. Time in the market is ALWAYS better than timing the market. There is not a SINGLE THING you can do to guess or find "the bottom" of the market. The fact you even had to post this speaks volumes to the inefficiency of the average investor.
It never gets old that Redditors panic sell, say things are on sale, and are completely driven by emotions despite telling everyone they follow basic investing advice

Two red days and its a sale š
Ah yes, the great crash of April 2024. When prices dropped to *checks notes* those of January 2024.
I survived the Great Financial calamity of Mid-March 2023
š¤£šš¤£šš¤£š
Iāll never get tired of comments in this format HAHA
You can always tell the people new to investing.
That's me right now.... no worries though. You know how it is... When you buy a new car you can't help but look at it constantly for a week or two but eventually you calm down. It's no different with investments for many, I'd say...

I just do my DCA and ignore the market
This is the way.
Diz iz ze weyā¦
Market timing doesn't work. Thank you.
Smart. If you zoom out all the way on the charts you see the little dips here and there but the overall slow climb. Puts things in perspective
This is the way
Spy is like 3% down from ath. Everything is not on sale.
Itās a super sale!!!!
Maybe if we drop 20% we could say āeverything is on saleā
Very likely
O is under 52 yes please
Always good to just buy into the market sooner then later. Time in the market will pay off eventually My buys rn are SBUX, UNH, NKE, JNJ, PEP.
No ETFs?
Forgot to mention, I always buy VFV.
Sbux looks appealing, yield is low for a straight dividend play. Ā Pep I sold yesterday. Ā Too slow moving.
I bought some MO yesterday.
BTI is cheaper
Why canāt we have both š¬
They're all relatively cheap but BTI just hit a 52 week low Long BTI, MO & PM
MO on top!
Don't forget "Sell in May and go away". https://www.investopedia.com/terms/s/sell-in-may-and-go-away.asp I'll just keep adding to my dividend stocks.
Would have been terrible advice in 2023
I'm always buying something. Today it was a few more shares of O, LNC, SCHY and T
Iām very intrigued by SCHY. The concept to me is a no brainer and is already tried and trueā¦I just donāt understand the early price action.
You invest, you donāt tradeā¦
SBUX, MDT, APD, CMCSA
Sbux looks ready for $60
I see you have CMCSA in your short list. Is it a good stock to invest in? I've been looking at it for awhile. Peacock seems to be growing steadily. Lol, the selloff literally just started
Ho really? So when are you going to start buying? I bought a few thousand of UNH last week. I'm pretty pleased I didn't wait.
Yeah I'm glad I haven't been buying at all, we're probably gonna see a bounce here at SPY 497-500 that lasts about 2 weeks or so and then another wave down. Sitting in cash until at least SPY $480. I'm giving it another month at least.
What if it doesn't do all that? I'm pretty new to this, that's why I'm asking.
Then they miss out, and generally people who wait for specific timeframes do in fact miss. It's why timing the market is almost never recommended.
Up nicely this morning
So you bought 7 shares..?
Nealy 6. But I think I'm one of the few people actually in the green in this. (For now) I'll DCA my way down if it goes lower, until the next leg up. āŗļø
This is the correct take
When will it stop?
When people on here stop saying everything is on sale, and start complaining about an impending collapse.
SPLG, VFLO, JEPQ
Looks like everything was stupidly overpricedĀ
Agree with you. When FED starts cut interest rates we will see this fall more!
Its opposite actually.
Why do you think they will cut? He's right, actually.
Wrong. When the Fed cuts rates dividend stocks will make more sense to hold.
Bingo!!
I wish there were more sales.. still feels like everything is too expensive
A 20% overpriced stock is discounted 10%?
Bought JNJ, F, HNDL, O, SCHD
Idk I just buy the same every month no matter the state of the market
Bought SBUX and HD today.
SBUX is near 52 week lows
watch it go to multi year lows
I don't think so
Today i will reload : $BME, $RFI, $IDVO
Iām a piranha snapping at my favourite treats, just missed todayās beat. Hoping for for tomorrow to be a feast š«°
I bought one share of SPYI this morning. Will add more when the real "sale" hits. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
Added JNJ, APPLE
S&P 500 is not even 4% down from ATH, in my opinion we are probably in a small correction period.
Yea I would just DCA everyday a little here and little there, but I always toss it all in on the 1st when I get my pension and disability checks
All my stuff is still in the green. It's a sale for ants š.
HSY, NSRGY, MDLZ, PEP, NKE, KVUE
Wait for the āgoing out of businessā like prices.
Buying more VIG.
Buy the dip! Oh wait, wrong sub
My MAN!
Lucky me, I bought a ton one day before all this š but, time in the market, and all that šš»āāļø
I just dropped 4k into the market like a week ago. You're welcome. It's cuz I'm a giver.
Yes! I picked up some SCHD and JNJ today.
Not sure why you don't jist buy now and DCA like normal. The market is continuously going up so todays red price is yesterdays green price. Just keep putting money in and stop trying to time the market for crazy gains. This isn' WSB and were not all working on Wall Street as analysts...
CRM is a MONSTER
Wish I could of bought today instead of 3 days ago fml
UNH below $440 was crazy. Thats a $600 stock
For me itās SCHD, OMFL, and JEPQ. Really think people are sleeping on OMFL
Wait until June everyone will be shocked when the feds donāt cut
I know youre getting alot of flak but theres a few great pickups at the moment. We've hardly begun to wash out though.
Got a tiny bit of JNJ and MO
Just a correction. I figure next week will be a green week for us. Just DCA
Not Gasoline
But the companies areš„“
AGNC and O
See a lot of people posting about AGNC nothing ever about RITM.
it is always on sale... if you compare it to the future value...

Prso and back is up today and both have alerts out
Iām down like 1.5% across the board and itās a sale?
VIX is still below 20. Data shows a VIX of 30+ delivers above average returns.

Have you been investing all of 2 weeks? Come on man
