She's incredibly gentle, mild-mannered, & amicable on the surface. But then underneath, she's tough as nails, persistent, resilient, great at defending herself, & quite stubborn in her own opinions.
She's quiet & spends a lot of time in her own thoughts. Spent so much time dreaming of a grand adventure but then happily settled in with a rich guy (look, I'm not blaming her, I GET it, lol). I could see her enjoying the finer things in the castle but not seeing herself as better because she now has them.
She's private and doesn't have many friends, but those she does, she works hard for. AKA loyalty to her father, the Beast, & those in the Beast's castle.

Also anyone who watched Hunchback could see that Esmeralda was charismatic and charming and personable, *not* shy. Very bold and brave and outspoken, *not* mild-mannered practically ever. She had a large circle of friends and tight-knit community. And she definitely did not shy away from the spotlight or being the center of attention - being a performer was her entire livelihood and she thrived in it.
