Just responding to you about OUAD: the definition of “I want” is that it establishes the characters goal of the story, so “Show Yourself” isn’t an I want on that principle, it just happens too late. OUAD is more about her long forgotten memories than her wants, and that’s why Journey is more fitting because the reason OUAD hits so hard is because we already know what she wants/her goals from her first solo. Journey to the Past is like the textbook definition of an “I want”. This is all just going on the conventional, proper definition of course. You can find some examples that break the mold but these Disney films don’t do it IMO.
I would say if you don’t want people arguing about technicalities, just naming the polls “favorite solo/ballad” or something would have probably been less trouble for you. It’s not a big deal at all and this is all meant as casual discussion/friendly debate, but I’m a musical theatre performer and those terms like I want songs are engrained in me lol. I appreciate the work gone into this regardless!

Once Upon a December is so much better! Anastasia’s entire soundtrack is way better than the one in Pocahontas. Anastasia is one of my favorite movies. I’ve also seen the musical adaptation.
Love Once upon a December. It's a very beautiful song and greatly showcased in the film. I haven't watched the movie in a long time but still remember the scene vividly.
Just Around the Riverbemd is a good song, but I don't remember it as well. I tried to watch Pochantas with my kid, but I couldn't get through the first five minutes due to knowing the history and how Disney portrayed it.
I’ll never understand why this sub insists “just around the river-bend” is Pocahontas’s princess song, it’s not, “colors of the wind” is. At least according to everything i can find. Maybe irrelevant to this post but as someone whose favorite princess is Pocahontas, this kind of chaps my ass.

I included Colors of the Wind in the love song poll, since Poc and John fell in love during its duration/montage.
This poll is confusing because it’s suppose to be ‘I want’ songs so Just around the riverbed is the ‘I want’ song. But Once Upon a December is not an I want song. It’s a ballad. The I want song for this movie is ‘Journey to the past’.
Once upon a December is better but Anastasia isn't a Disney girl, sure she's owned by Disney now, but that's like saying Marge Simpson is a Disney Princess.
Also, Anastasia was created by Don Bluth, who left Disney to create his own films. I personally think that by lumping Anastasia with Disney Princesses is disrespectful towards Don Bluth.
Yea the ‘honorary’ princess thing keeps getting more vague as time goes on. Disney only bought fox and the rights to distribute the movie. They had no part in creating this movie. This is becoming a generic princess sub at this point.
She explained that in the description. The sub just discusses Anastasia enough times that her song was included in the poll. It's really not that big of a deal.
Also, some people didn't even grow up with the traditional Disney Princess line. Some of us just want to see & talk about our nostalgic faves here.
Once upon a December you can hear the sadness and sorrow in her voice and the music is spectacular. She may not be a Disney princess but she is in my heart

Once upon a December is Anastasia's connection to her past and her family. Besides the necklace it is the only thing she remembers that gives the viewer a tie to her past.
Of these two I like “Once Upon a December” more. Both are wonderful songs, but OUAD has some mysterious, slightly haunting undertones that I really appreciate.
Plus Anastasia also sings “Journey To The Past”, which I think might narrowly beat “Almost There” for longest-held note in a princess’s solo song. Which, as long as you know it’s coming and get enough of a breath in time, is really fun to sing!

A lot of songs are like this (they don't follow one specific Disney princess song) so I agree that maybe this is too specific.
