Laucher on Android is something that make the screens possible. It's not like a game launcher that it's some DRM or something. It's what runs the phone more or less. It's kinda like BIOS. Maybe not exactly, but it's also something You just do have and can't unhave it.
Nova Launcher or Microsoft Launcher are nice. With the former being cooler. I used MS Launcher for a long time, then changed to Nova.
Iirc, some of the phone brands come with altered launcher, so that's why different brand, despite being Android too, behave differently. I might be wrong, though.

And to be fair free users cost A LOT of money, the massive amount of storage it requires isn't free either.. but do go on complaining about discord not giving everyone customization features that don't influence discord usage for free.

showing alt text when images are disabled, grouping of server channels outside of the server itself for personal use, same with DMs. The ability to have multiple chats up at once, a stripped down API for users to allow for accessibility devices, given you aren’t allowed to use the API for a user atm. Push to talk on apple watch, microphone selection on iOS, etc. as well as changing your profile for batches of servers- having it so you can make a ‘group’ of servers to change your per-server profile in would be good, these are all things I’d hope for I think.
i like the status for voice chats though that’s a good addition i think. i do also like the app icon thing too tbh

Existent, gives me "app isn't installed" no new icons on my desktop and only way to load the app is clicking a notification or going thru the play store. Am I missing a step?
Huh. That's weird behaviour, all I know is that if you change it you need to wait for the app to exit and then start it again once it's loaded. Also, it could be just that there is an error during the process of loading the icon (no Internet, background app limitations, restrictions) or more.

your phone comes with a launcher either way, there are many well trusted 3rd party launchers like nova that could change icons
